  • what if theres a sun shower or when i go to wash my windshield?

  • Stanley Roberts is a reporter and this was a news cast. Headlights aren't just so you can see but so other people can see you. Cars in cloudy rainy days blend in and are hard to see. Next time you're out in such weather, especially on the freeway, look in the mirror and see the difference. This law is not against civil rights. It's against inconsiderate people who cause injuries or death. (Why not just drive at night with no headlights? In most places there's enough light to see the road.)

  • I would wager that the guy reporting on this has plenty of his own skeltons in his closet that he doesnt want pointed out to the public and is just being a hipocritical ass.

  • It should not be a law it should be just common sense to burn the headlights when wipers are employed?

  • Good thing I have day time running lights

  • It's a typical liberal law that basically tells you how to think and fines you when you thin for your self. It's a stupid law to do nothing more than create revenue.

  • @Gramps1975 Just like 90% of stop signs...

  • Petty Bullshit.

  • Glad I watched this video, I did not know this law. How would you expect all drivers to know this law? What a scam

  • sorry I haven't lived in California since Aprial of 2005 so I wouldn't know about the laws. I'm in Arizona.

  • Got news for you, i could see well over 1000ft in some of your clips. WTF do you bother reporting this petty ass shit!? OMG, these people are fucking menaces to society............ive watched a number of these videos, and it seems you label anyone that isnt a mindless zombie or a walking, breathing law book, a bad person.

  • @joe735 i completely agree.

  • this is chicken shit

  • Keep up the good work stanley

  • Darn, I don't even check to see if this law exists in the state I currently live in.

First I don't drive a motor vehicle, rather a bicycle and I do run day time lights and full lights even in very light rain, fog or just gray times of the day... It's called common sense. In fact anytime I see a car that is hard to see, my lights are turned on.

  • OMG CRIME OF THE CENTURY! Those people are terrible for forgetting about some law even cops probably don't enforce.

We have that law in Jersey too but I've never seen anyone, or heard of anyone get pulled over for it.

  • i'm just glad i dont live in this state, idiots

  • That's one of the most ridiculous driving laws I've ever heard of. I can't believe you even chose to call people out on it.

  • my god you cover some boring shit

  • The mini has a rain senors the wipers come on by them selfs the driver is probly oblivous to the fact. Maybe they should make rain senors that control your wipers and head lights

  • Standing at a bus stop for 25 minutes waiting for the "every 10 minutes" #28 on Park Presidio on a rainy day - and obviously nothing to do but wait for the fucking #28 - I observed that it seemed the HUGE VAST majority of violators of the "windshield=lights on" rule were female drivers.

    Just my observation.

Oh, also couldn't help but notice that the cellphone talkers WHILE DRIVING tended to be female drivers too.....

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP NEWS PEOPLE R BULL SHITERS =)

  • 0:58 So, that means only Jay Leno is exempt from the law?

  • In my country there is a law that says that you allways have to have your headlights on while driving. Does not matter if it rains or not, day or night.

I think it is good since you are more visable regardless if it is day or night. You might think it is unnecessary during the day, but it is still good that people can see you better if you have them on.

Just saying. (I know it is not a law in USA)

  • @Znitso Isn't it because it's hardly ever sunny in Sweden? Americans don't have rear fog lights on their cars either. Never had to use it, but still.

  • @04smallmj Oh come on man, you should have seen this summer. We do have great weather here to you know. But people make that misstake all the time. Our winters sure are "rough" and cold (not very sunny, but that depends of course.)

Now, about the headlight-law. As i meantioned before, our goverment thinks that it is easier for a pedestrian for example to spot a car that is moving with headlights on then a car with headlights off. It's just a safety thingy...

  • @Znitso ooooh your from Sweden?! im a huge fan of anything Sweedish!! (mostly volvos hehe) really i think we had that law in florida i see cars with day time running lights all the time..

  • @Rodolcort Haha good observation :) Yes i am. Am glad to hear it. Where are you from? I like your Jeeps :D

Does that law in florida still exist? Thanks

  • so what its a stupid law if its pouring i could see it but come on is there not better things this reporter could be covering this law is f n stupid when i have trouble seeing people thats when i'll turn them on. not a second b 4

  • How about people not using their headlights at all? I noticed several cars without headlights when it wasn't raining this morning, and they were hard to see because their car's colors were dark.

Just when SF is complaining about a lack of revenue, I see plenty of it around. Just have a few cops at a corner and watch the money flow in!

  • may b you should have your perscription checked . If you cant see people in the day without their headlights , you have no buisness behind the wheel of a car and should take the bus!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • its the same here in south carolina but i use my parking lights during the day and lights when its raining remember while it may not be raining hard there window might be covered in droplets of water and make it harder for you to be seen if you dont have your lights on

  • I didn't know that. I don't recall that being on the DMV license test.

  • You can turn them on manually, dummy.
