Relating to search/seizure, privacy works on a sliding scale. If you're in your home or lawyer's office, you have an absolute right to privacy. In public though, when you're in "plain view", that standard is greatly reduced. Airports, prisons and courthouses are all places where protections are far weaker.

I have another idea. We agree to strip naked in a private room. Then the TSA Agents need not touch you. They can see everything they want. Then you don't have to go through radiation and you don't have to be touched. This may be a better option for some people.
Then if this idea catches on, we can have National Strip Day to really slow things up.

@cuttingmike There is no constitutional 'right to travel' unless you're a member of Congress. It might be in the common law, but it's not an iron-clad constitutional protection.
Relating to search/seizure, privacy works on a sliding scale. If you're in your home or lawyer's office, you have an absolute right to privacy. In public though, when you're in "plain view", that standard is greatly reduced. Airports, prisons and courthouses are all places where protections are far weaker.

Yes, there IS a lesser degree of liberty in public places; Michigan v. Sitz (decision allowing random sobriety checks) and United States v. Martinez-Fuerte (immigration checks.
Moreover, borders (including airports) require no cause at all for searches (in relation to passenger screening, anyway). Once again, learn your Constitution/case law.

Here in the UK, we are given various perspectives regarding a specific issue, both from a liberal point of view and a conservative p.o.v., + others. I might add that at this moment in time we are under a coalition government - Conservatives+Lib Democrats. Conservatives have the upper hand, without a doubt.

I can say though, that certains neo-conservative elements in the higher echelons of US politics advocate Machiavellian, as well as Hobbesian, approaches regarding international affairs. They invaded Iraq, which did not pose a significant threat to the USA or the West, for that matter.

We are concerned about radiation with the scanners. We are concerned about sexual assault and other discomfort during the patdowns.
I have another idea. We agree to strip naked in a private room. Then the TSA Agents need not touch you. They can see everything they want. Then you don't have to go through radiation and you don't have to be touched. This may be a better option for some people.
Then if this idea catches on, we can have National Strip Day to really slow things up.

"Muslim-looking?" WTF Muslim is a religion. There is no Muslim "look." Millions of whites (Albanians, Bosnians, Russians), blacks (Somalians, Nigerians, Sudanese), Middle Easterners. Indians, and Oriental Asians (Indonesians, Malaysians) are Muslim. And I've literally seen grannies get full body pat downs, so everybody has been subject to this over the last decade. But Johns Hopkins spokesperson responded to CNN that they neither declared these devices safe for humans, nor were they asked to test them for safety. If these devices were safe, the Department of Homeland Security talking pantsuit wouldn't have to lie, would she?

Why do they even scan my bags! Why do they make me walk through anything at all! Why do I have to take off my shoes! How dare, me, a paying customer being assumed guilty before being proven innocent! And what about those "several passengers" and those "few, unidentifiable pictures" leaked.
