@RTree613. Well, any tranny can be broken, but if you're not beating on it, then even the reqular WRX tranny can live through up to 350whp for awhile. I had mine for about a year at 320 wheel torque and the stock tranny took it like a champ.

@RTree613 It's been a few years already, but if I remember correctly the Forester XT has the same gears as the WRX, but the final drive ratio is shorter which essentially makes the Forester XT gears withstand higher load than WRX's.
@kesspup66 The beauty of this little wagon in that it already comes with STI engine. Stock. ;) The only thing I did to it, is replaced WRX turbo (stock) with one similar to STI's. That was really the only power mod. Others were just to support it, like bigger downpipe, fuel pump and tune.
@boxersbeatbrawlers one more thing - I also installed STI's stock intercooler, the stock one is tiny :) Yeah, that's it. I also replaced stock springs with the the ones from the real Forester STI, replaced 16" wheels with 17" + some sporty tires - the stock tires are too soft and yes, that's pretty much it :)

The Mercury Marauder, did very well considering how heavy the car is. It's all about American Pride. We as Americans should take pride in our domestic cars,,,because they were built with a certain spirit and not the spirit of throw away consumerism of today. You see, even without import tarrifs against foreign products to prop up price relationship of domestic products vs foreign products, the conversion of dollar-to-duetche Mark (if German), or to Yen (if Japanese), means that even if a profit is made in dollars it is lost in Yen if currency conversion takes place back to country of Origin.

Stock, the Marauder has 320 HP dual Overhead cam engine from Cobra Mustang, but it's a 4,200 LB car. You're comparing a 240 HP car to a car that is as heavy as a Ford Explorer or an SUV. It's about power to weight ratio. This Ford is a low 14sec car in the quarter mile. With a Supercharger, it's a 12 second car and can't be beat. Also compare the price of putting out almost 500 HP with this car, with a supercharger, compared to same power level achieved with a Suburu Turbo?
Yeah slow, but with the family on board, in a minnesota winter, with AWD, the subaru is the best thing since sliced bread. I bought a forester xt over a bmw x3, an ex35 and others.
The forester is not perfect, but it does do amazingly well, especially in rainstorms at 85mph or snowpack at 75mph.

The messed up thing is that was my best run evar with the car. SInce then did alot to it and it got totaled out before I cauld get to the track again.
That Forester has an STI turbo in it (an upgrade from the stock WRX turbo) and 3" exhaust vs 2.25" stock. These are only 2 performance upgrades that were done to it at that time.
That guy with the Mercury cant drive for crap. I had a 03 Marauder and my best time was a 13.29, and my car was all stock. Im not dissin on the subaru, as I love subaru's too, im just stating fact.
I just googled "03 Marauder 1/4 mile" and it seems that stock one runs within high 14s to low 15th time range. Marauders are pretty heavy and have only (for a heavy car) 302hp, so there is no way a stock Marauder could do low 13s, unless there was something seriously wrong with the dragstrip's timing gear.

No, the Forester isn't stock either, it has an STI-like turbo (different brand, same size). The Forester comes stock with the WRX turbo and ran 14.3 sec on the same track.

Forester isn't that much taller either, in real life. Needle will stop at 140mph, but car keeps going faster and faster. Dude you need updates, in 21st century, BMWs easily hit over 185mph.
Thats all a bit off. I own a forester XT (ran 12.83@109.1 last week) and it is definately a good bit taller, and is a LOT less aerodynamic than the Impreza. The fastest XT at Texas mile only ran 159 with the same level of mods that puts an STI into the 165 range. He also had to remove his hood scoop and do a couple other things to get there, whereas the STI can hit that without removing stuff. We did have an STI do 179 though :)
Read about its award winning, 2.5 liter boxer engine. Learn. Understand. Know. AccessPort and exhaust. You're just frustrated that brick probably outperforms your car. Such is life, get over it.

The forester XT is basically Subaru Impreza WRX STi with is fucking fast car, But the Marauder is much cooler car and very fast. My grandma would like the styling of the forester..
you have to keep in mind that the forester is an all-wheel drive where as the marauder is a rear-wheel drive. the forester jumps off the line like nothing while the marauder is skidding out. let them race on the highway and then we'll see who will win (marauder) oh and by the way, bampie1 most probably likes male genetalia in his mouth.
Actually, sadly, the Marauder's speed isn't traction-limited. It is a heavy thing and 300hp just isn't that much to push it with. The 0-60 time of a Crown Vic LX Sport (239hp) is 7.9s. The 0-60 time for the Marauder (302hp) is still a long-ish 7.5s. Thankfully though, the Marauder actually has quite decent steering and ride. It's much more of a polished car than a muscle-bound sled.

Yeah slow, but with the family on board, in a minnesota winter, with AWD, the subaru is the best thing since sliced bread. I bought a forester xt over a bmw x3, an ex35 and others.
The forester is not perfect, but it does do amazingly well, especially in rainstorms at 85mph or snowpack at 75mph.

That Forester has an STI turbo in it (an upgrade from the stock WRX turbo) and 3" exhaust vs 2.25" stock. These are only 2 performance upgrades that were done to it at that time.

I just googled "03 Marauder 1/4 mile" and it seems that stock one runs within high 14s to low 15th time range. Marauders are pretty heavy and have only (for a heavy car) 302hp, so there is no way a stock Marauder could do low 13s, unless there was something seriously wrong with the dragstrip's timing gear.

No, the Forester isn't stock either, it has an STI-like turbo (different brand, same size). The Forester comes stock with the WRX turbo and ran 14.3 sec on the same track.

I don't think so. Google it. About 130 actual, with some claims ranging between 130 and 140. There's no way that flying brick will go 160 without serious mods. A lot of high powered and slippery German cars just make 160.

Flying brick? Thats what you think, but Subaru's got the aerodynamics under control. STI will do 166mph, top speed, with more revs left over. This Forester is same as STI bellow. Forester isn't that much taller either, in real life. Needle will stop at 140mph, but car keeps going faster and faster. Dude you need updates, in 21st century, BMWs easily hit over 185mph.

Thats all a bit off. I own a forester XT (ran 12.83@109.1 last week) and it is definately a good bit taller, and is a LOT less aerodynamic than the Impreza. The fastest XT at Texas mile only ran 159 with the same level of mods that puts an STI into the 165 range. He also had to remove his hood scoop and do a couple other things to get there, whereas the STI can hit that without removing stuff. We did have an STI do 179 though :)

I own a 97 Thunderbird V8. If i owned a Forester i think i would shoot my balls off!!!! And u had to mention snow u fucker. Ford Taurus AWD 263 hp...Ford Escape AWD...Ford Focus FWD are all great in snow. Not many ppl drive sports cars in the snow anyway. Road Salt rusts cars esily so i dont drive in the snow unless of an emergency.

I have a 10 second supra that i love, but it can't hold a candle to my 57 Chevy, my last quarter was 8.83 and I'm yet to lose to any import I've matched up against. so It's one thing to love your import, but don't go trashing good old American power.

you have to keep in mind that the forester is an all-wheel drive where as the marauder is a rear-wheel drive. the forester jumps off the line like nothing while the marauder is skidding out. let them race on the highway and then we'll see who will win (marauder) oh and by the way, bampie1 most probably likes male genetalia in his mouth.

Actually, sadly, the Marauder's speed isn't traction-limited. It is a heavy thing and 300hp just isn't that much to push it with. The 0-60 time of a Crown Vic LX Sport (239hp) is 7.9s. The 0-60 time for the Marauder (302hp) is still a long-ish 7.5s. Thankfully though, the Marauder actually has quite decent steering and ride. It's much more of a polished car than a muscle-bound sled.
