As a former RC and now a Christian I can honestly say I never saw anybody do what this minister did. The difference between a person pagan at heart and one who is a pure monotheist believer at heart, is that the pagan will allways try to incorporate other (most of the time human-like) figures in their religion besides God. Their heart cringe with aversion when God alone is mentioned without his supposed mother or supposed son.

As a former RC and now a Christian I can honestly say I never saw anybody do what this minister did. His prostrating before the idol was more like what Muslims to in prayer and I can also say that they didn't pray to the stautes in my time, but they claim that the images are a guide to prayer. Nevertheless Roman Catholicism is paganism - they pay homage to idols in praying before them and in their retetive prayers.

I hate to break it to you, but this isn't a statue of the Virgin Mary; it's a statue of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. She is holding roses and a crucifix in her arms, which are her traditional iconographical symbols, and the original paint job, a Carmelite habit, shows on top of the head. Definitely not Our Lady.
