Very impressive looking. There appears to be two water outlets from the pump but no inlet from what I can see in video, as I thought the pumps only have one inlet and outlet. Is the water actually being pumped by another means out of camera shot? Either way it looks nice.
Very impressive - I love to see the engines, particularly the smaller ones, doing useful things :-) That could actually pump water up from a well for practical purposes. Very nice.
I'd never have thought a small engine like that could work a pump of any size. Mind, I think the clicking sound it makes gives a clue to the load it is carrying. I wonder what kind of steam pressure you were operating at.
Is there play in the crankshaft main bearings? That clicking is like the sound that my engine makes. There is too much play in the crank bearings and that clicks. I can detect play by moving the flywheel. The clicking comes from there on mine. I'm not sure how tight to expect such bearings to be, but if the main bearings on my car had so much as these, I'd be in for an expensive repair. The small crank journals should surely have little or no axial movement on them - don't you think?
what was the name of the kit.

amazing how it has such power so cheap to run

do you know what the s50 motor itself is safe to for psi providing that its got a load and wont over rev?
theboatsucks 2 years ago
what pressure are you is that at? and do you happen to know the maximum operating pressure?
theboatsucks 2 years ago
Safe working pressure of that boiler is 60 psi, and that is what it was running at. It will drive that pump from 30 psi upward.

It goes to show how much torque and power a steam engine kicks out. I think these little engines are wicked. real works of art.

I suppose there not that hard really as there high R.P.M.

Im suprised a steam engine of that size can turn a Lister Domestic Pump.

No, Take a closer look, it really is driving the pump. The intake of the pump can just be seen at the bottom left corner of the clip.
No trickery hear.

Is your Stuart turning the Lister pump ?
If it is that is very impresive
And the Stuart sounds so quite
Well done

Thanks for the video.

It runs up to 60 PSI. It was currently rining on 45 PSI ish. It was not full open on the stop valve. If it was it would have run much faster.
The pump is not really much load for it.
