  • When the guitar solo kicks in at 1.59 and your whole body is covered in goosebumps and you need to catch your breath at the sheer urgent magnificence of it all. All your worries disappear. Everything seems to make sense for those few brief moments. Thank you, Bob Mould.

  • Best song of the 1990s, hands down.

  • This song is nuts! What a solo!

  • The way the guitars move this song! The power of the mix, lyrics still the way the chorus riffs catch you like a good wave on a nice day. Wooooo....I can never get enough of Bob Mould, and this piece of freaking art noise sound.

  • Oh god, we need another Sugar album !!!!

  • Punk rock grunge wotever bobjust wrote and played wot he liked.....the definition of music in my opinion and by fuck it was awesome..

  • True story, I was in a band, heard this, played it to the others and we broke up on the spot after 1 listen, we just knew in our hearts if each and every song you write cannot come to within touching distance of this sonic grenade then there's no point even trying. As another poster said, trully astonishing.

  • my earwax was forever gone when i listened beaster over and over with headphones on and in very high volume! thanks bob

  • Wow, they don't even look like the Foo Fighters in the video!

  • @themoveschicago this EP came out about 2 years before the foo fighters debut...

  • @bigredhittner Thanks. I do remember an early Foo Fighters interview in the press, in 95. The journalist mentioned how some Foo Fighters reminded him of Sugar, to which Grohl replied "I liked Hüsker Dü a lot". Now they are quite away from this kind of sound...

  • @dummytree actually Bob Mould sang on a song on Foo's most recent album; Wasting Light. Grohl was a big Husker Du fan. Bob sang on "Dear Rosemary".

  • @beelzabubba I didn't know that, thanks. I have given up on Foo Fighters, quite frankly.

  • @84heroes1 Thanks, 84heroes, for the list. I know some of these songs, and agree they're terrific: Dinosaur Jr, Jane's Addiction, Sonic Youth, Pumpkins, of course. I'll check out some of the others I don't know. I see Pumpkins are loisted as doing a few gigs in UK soon: I'm wondering whether I might go ... last time I saw them in 1996 at Wembley, it wasn't such a great gig: Chamberlain was about to have that infamous night and get sacked....

  • No one ever created such blissful noise, with glorious melody the way Bob Mould did. He is the king!

  • 2:43 SPLAAAASH!

  • superb pace

  • <3 Mould<3

  • This song and video hits me even more on the balls and brains whilst bein on reading Bob Mould's autobiography atm ... Bob's been there, heaven and hell and back ...

  • Malcom Travis on drums..... bangin'!!

  • groohl devolve la plataaa

  • bob is and will always be amazing

  • why is it not reocgnised that Beaster is up there with the best of Husker Du....better in my opinion. Thrilling music...

  • The editor cut "Rabbit Hole" and "Precious" ?!

  • @BoilingSkyFilms

Not only that, but Bob played guitar on the soundtrack to Hedwig and The Angry Inch, starring/directed by John Cameron Mitchell, who also directed "Rabbit Hole".

This song is absolutely ridiculous in it's intensity and I agree, my ears were ringing for a couple days after every Sugar show I saw...rivaled only by The Ramones in my case. I miss the 90's.

  • @h8paperdoll ce morceau ridicule???putain ouvre tes écoutilles...heu et puis entre nous,le mieux s'est pas fait dans les 9O's...ça existe le" biactol" pour les oreilles?

  • Good God this song rocks.

  • My fave song of all time. I built a killer skate vid around this tune.

  • 'That Ashberto geezer knows his music'

    PV 08-06-2011

  • Can't find this song anywhere to download!

  • Sugar was equal parts melodic and bone-crunchingly brutal all at once. Awesome!

  • Not safe in the car - this comes on and you're going to accelerate. Excellent concert and second only to Motorhead in how long I had ringing in my ears after...

  • Fucked up album, from at the time a fucked up individual (yes Bob Mould was Sugar, no disagreements? Good) and this is the easiest listening from it. Blissful genius.

  • Ashberto's music taste is up his arse imo.

  • One of the greatest albums of all time.

  • I think this song is Bob Mould's finest moment. It's a motherfuckin' banger.

  • "Don’t try to hang up on me, WAIT UP!!!"

  • what a great song, truly without equal

  • Truely Nils!!!!! The heaviest album of all time too.!

  • Imagine watching MTV or something and you see this for the first time, simply exhilarating, love Bob Mould!!!

  • @gerardaven I remember it well... It was Saturday Morning and I just sat there with my jaw on the floor. I was already a fan of copper blue but this was just something else.

  • This song was, is and ever shall be one of the hardest hitting rock songs of all time!!!!!!!!!

  • it.....just...won't.....go...loud....enough

  • @LoftNuthouse LMFAO! I almost blow out my car speakers when my Beaster CD is in the player. I love to see that people still rock out to Sugar!

  • Bob Mould is a god who walks upon the earth.

  • perfect rock song

  • Thanks for posting. Tilted is my favourite Sugar-Track.

  • see..here's the thing, now, it's all about looks and image. Bob Mould is a prime example of what happens when you forget about looks and let talent through.

  • i can't even begin to count how many mould, HD, sugar songs there are in my top 50-100

  • @jwgacyful It can't be more than 50-100.

  • There are musical giants, but Mould/Husker/Sugar are the most important statements in pop music the last 25 years..legend. Sugar & SonVolt who else ?

  • im convinced this is the greatest song i have ever heard.

  • @steelers724309 Ja, that's because it IS ^^

  • Mr. Mould is one of the best songwriters ever.

  • more people should know about this....

  • Best song on "Beaster"... Watched the clip over & over agin on MTV when MTV was still MTV. First time I notice what I assume is a guy touching himself, though... Anyone else see this (1:51 - 2:06) ?

  • Love Husker Du, Sugar and Bob Moulds solo stuff!!

I recenty hear of Bob Mould and J mascis from Dinosaur Jr working together. That would be kinda cool. :)

  • Absolutely fucking amazing. An out-of -control rollercoaster with lyrics to match!!

  • remember...it's tilted!!!!

  • I saw the Beaser tour in Seattle '93. I'm glad I had my earplugs in !

  • @swimmingground Ha, gotta say Iv heard nothing louder than Bob, lost part of my hearing following an old gig!!! man..worth it tho!!

  • Probably the most perfect mini-album ever.

  • "Beaster" is one of the best albums/EPs EVER! Long live master Bob Mould!

  • One of my all time favourites! Thanks, mate!

  • this is the most downright bad ass songs of the 90's. get in your car, roll up the windows and turn the volume up as high as it goes. what a wall of sound.

  • When this song starts.......Why the heck have I always to turn up the volume on my PC to max., jumping around like a Maniac playing air guitar, while my girlfriend is dialing the emergency number ? .....anyone an idea ?

  • @Loewe68 Because you know what it's all about. Don't stop doing that.

  • I'm ashamed to say I missed out on buying Beaster so never heard it, but then I hear this. What an amazing song!! Buying the whole album asap.

  • Invented modern guitar.

  • Copper Blue and Beaster are masterpieces.

  • thank you

  • @NilsBielke I completely agree.

  • One of my favourite guitar solos.

  • Yeh, always loved this. A lesson in momentum and dynamics. Relentless, start to finish.

  • I agree with baboon2525. better than Kurt

  • i don't think bob's underrated. ask anyone who knows his music. thing is, most people don't.

  • Shaxan, could you upload Sugar's video for Your Favorite Thing? Was on YT for a while, but was deleted for some reason. Thanks in advance!

  • anyways, gotta be between bob and evan dando for best songwriter of the 90s....

  • unfortunately baboon, a certain Mr Cobain, Corgan, Vedder and Cornell were round too

  • auch, he was better than all of them, even Kurt. Seriously unheralded!

  • it makes hard rock actually sound like A Good Idea. Bob Mould is one of the best melody/harmony writers there's ever been - so far underrated, it's untrue. Godlike.

  • One of my faves. Genius

  • I fucking love everything Bob Mould does. This one of my favorite songs...

  • As good as Husker Du. He should go down in history as one of the greatest song writers ever

  • already does in my world. legend.

  • i can't find JC auto on youtube anywere, its from the same album, so wanted to hear it after this track, could someone post it PLEASE!!, I NEED TO HEAR THAT INTENSE TRACK...

  • beaster, yeah had it on tape, now weres it gone?

  • Pure catharsis.

  • thank you so much for uploading, you are right, this song just has to be here.

  • Just wish someone would upload J.C Auto

  • I just tried to, but they muted the sound instantly. Shame, fantastic song.

  • awesome song

  • This song will be forever sick. So fucking punkrock.

  • Anybody know the name of the tune that the Resnick show on KFI uses from Beaster that is the intro song for the radio show?

  • I like this... Newer metal without the obligatory Cookie Monster vocals. :-)

  • Beaster is the best EP of all-time. Well maybe not, but it's up there

  • I couldn't agree with you more. 'Beaster' it's EP masterpiece!

  • Ahhhh... Beaster.

B-sides from Copper Blue. One of my favorite studio sessions. Bob's made some great tracks since, but these recordings were just incredible.,

  • Nothing rocks like this song. All of Beaster is awesome - but this song kicks ass!!!!

  • Couldn't agree more with you brother! ...and then comes Judas cradle..J.C. Auto ...saw Sugar in 93' , amazingly heavy and beautiful both

  • Gotta be one of the best turn on turn up songs. And the way it ends and goes into Judas Cradle.

  • awesome! Thanks for bringing this back, D.!

  • Go Bob. One of my fave songs of all time. For a hit of adrenaline nothing comes close.
