HR 1388 is kind of scary, they're talking about making volunteer service mandatory. This isn't a good idea when you take into account that the services they will provide are similar to those offered during the New Deal, but back then people were paid for it, thus stimulating the economy.
As for slavery, what we have in the U.S. is a problem of "wage slavery". That's when a great number of people are dependent on jobs with no future, and right now it's even worse than slavery (well, that's a strong statement, let's say maybe) because so many people are working for less than their cost of living that the wealth of the former middle class is being redistributed to the wealthy and the corporations. Is this Obama's fault? Definitely not. Is he going to fix it? Absolutely not.

The "slavery" is referring to the fact that for some Americans, over 50% of their production / income (when all forms of taxes are accounted for) will be going to the federal government. So, in that sense they are "slaves" to the government.
Additionally, Obama is strengthening a system where Person A is productive and Person B is non-productive and where person G (the government) is literally taking from Person A in order to provide for Person B. Thus, making Person A a "slave" to Person B.

This administration has already spent trillions of dollars it does not have, on projects that benefit the non taxpayers. When these new spending sprees hit the taxpayers, in the form of higher taxes, because that is the only thing that can happen, then many of the struggling taxpayers will be overwhelmed to the point that it no longer makes sense to be employed.

The purpose of paying taxes is to provide funding for a military to protect our country, roads, highways, red lights, post offices, etc. We should not pay taxes as a way of redistributing wealth, If I work hard all my life and save my money, why should it be taken away from me to give to someone that did not. Since when are taxes meant to redistribute wealth? They're meant to pay for roads, police, firefighters, etc, not people who don't work for a living. So where are you getting taxes = redistribution?

If you get a chance watch the CNN interview with his Whitehouse photographer and take a look at the one the guy says is his favorite. Powerful stuff, he's as strong a personal figure as he is a political one. Unless he's the greatest living actor on the entire planet, I really can't imagine dark thoughts twirling through his head on how to destroy 'white america'. He may be touting FDR, but I hope comes away the next Teddy Roosevelt and really revolutionizes America. My opinion of course.

I'd also like to point out that a lot of the things that I thought were 'not possible in America' occured during the Bush administration. So insisting you can pinpoint what's 'not possible' at this point would be ridiculous.
I think if he were going to do ANY of the radical things he's accused of by people like Fox News, he would have set some things in motion to inact them by NOW!

Looking back at past histories of other countries, of revenges and counter-revenges, civil wars, and basic nonsense, I'd say it might be possible if we were a) Living one hundred years in the past or b) a third world country. That kind of radical thinking is not new, nor is it as insane as it sounds. The audiobook clips were uneasy listening for me, but they're the scattered thoughts of an angry young man trying to find himself - not a slave maker. But that's what neo-cons would come away with.

I am not affiliated with any party, you will see the destruction that Obama is going to bring! This is not a race issue this is a Biblical issue! America is going to fail big time because of Obama's stimulus plan. The hitler signs represent what Hitler did when he administered several stimulus packages! Socialism is a disease! I think a lot of people who share my (conservative) political views feel that the current administration will put us in figurative slavery with debt from massive spending and the mandatory service bill (HR 1388, check that out). The guy with the sign was wrong, this "slavery" will be shared by all tax payers of all races. And the Tea parties were not "cry-baby parties" about the election, they were in response to govt spending and the Feds stepping on states rights, the election was not an issue

I forget where I blamed the CURRENT debt we have on Obama, I thought I was talking about the future. I guess you're just reading things I didn't write. Bush is no doubt responsible for expansion of debt and failure to let the recession take place( which would have purged the economy of unsustainable ventures). Since he did not now Obama has the opportunity to do what's right, but Obama is not. Obama is doubling down on what Bush did and created more debt, unprecedented in fact. This has soured me to Politics in general. I have little faith in either party because all politicians seem to do greedy things to maintain their immediate poll numbers.

I also have fear of obamas spending policies in regards to increasing the pool of money and destroying the value of the currency. My fear is based on the Austrian theory of the business cycle which states that federal intervention via monetary manipulation creates a disruption in the deployment of capital. Eventually this must be purged when the free market discovers the malinvestment. We are all poorer when market signals are manipulated. So yes there is tremendous rational basis behind it.

Slavery applies to Rahm Emanuels statements about mandatory civil service. Regardless of what the normative purpose of this is its important to remember he stated is should be MANDATORY. Now I dont fear chains around my neck but I dont think the idea of forcing somebody to work for somebody else worked well in USAs history. There appears to be rational basis for this. Barak has made public statements about this institution. I'm not sure if he agrees with Rahm, but it is a fear of mine.

I think it important to learn where the other side is coming from instead of calling each other commies, fascists, racists ect. its only after listening to one another that we can make REAL progress. I dont see eye to eye with a lot of modern day conservative principles(mainly social issues) but I am willing to listen and learn. who knows one day I might change my views. THX again!

The purpose of paying taxes is to provide funding for a military to protect our country, roads, highways, red lights, post offices, etc. We should not pay taxes as a way of redistributing wealth, If I work hard all my life and save my money, why should it be taken away from me to give to someone that did not. Also, the estate tax, why should the government get half of my money and assets when I die instead of my family?

WTF? Is that really what you are taught in political science classes? Taxes are for redistribution of wealth? Wrong!!! That may be what we as a nation have been moving further into for a long time, but it is not Democratic. Our federal government is was supposed to only spend our tax money to protect us, and allow ALL of us to work hard and strive for a better life for OURSELVES. It is not our governments job to take anyone's hard earned dreams and hand them to anyone else. PERIOD.

yeah they teach, this TX we're talking about here not some ultraliberal campus or anything... the top 5 % pay a significant amount of taxes (more than 50%) but that money doesn't stay with their neighborhood or go towards govt salaries
Some goes to building highways they will never drive on, welfare(which I hear you if you say we need to see a decrease in welfare-that is sensible, but the middle of a recessionary period probably isn't the best time considering people are losing their jobs)

One could argue that maintaining welfare for people while in a recession slows the recovery as those that are unemployed might be incentivized to stay on welfare. However to correct that issue you must remove taxes adn regulation to foster supply side growth so the market can absorb excess labor.

I dont know about any incentives for living on welfare? you may have a point but from what I have seen (I worked at a grocery store for a year and a half) most of the people that bought food on foodstamps where working people..as far as I know-which may not be much- the system is setup so you have to work will on welfare(emphasis on welfare, not unemployment) These people come to cash their checks and the govt gives them like 600 a month. not really living money if you ask me.

5. what this all ends up doing is creating dependence from those that do not need it but are willing to take it because they have a greater preference for inactivity. It's important to consider the modifications people potentially make in regards to accepting increased risk when there are increased amounts of safety provided to people. Aid that provides people the ability to survive at others expense will cause individuals who are eligible for that aid to behave in more risky ways. This means risking preg. or not obtaining desirable skills for employment. The institutions that create the moral hazard are the FUNDAMENTAL problem; they must be removed.

I am a conservative republican. I am an immigrant (read minority), grew up in the ghettos of New Jersey and hung out with drug dealers growing up. I am a conservative because I witnessed first hand how the policies of the left tear apart and facilitate the failure of those that lived in my neighborhood.
