  • Nice fingers!

  • Nice work - that really helped me mail down the parts I wasn't getting quite right. Thanks for posting.

  • great job on this :)

  • can somebody explain to me what he does at 0:25?

  • @Squweesh Hey. I slide up to the 12th fret, 3rd string, and then pluck the 2nd string, 11th fret two times, and then bend the 2nd string, 13th fret up a whole step and quickly do the same bend again with vibrato. Hope that helped. =)

  • @tehorix789 you just made my day thank you.

  • GREAT SONG

  • Incredible

  • Wow...you are a great player. Thanks for sharing. You're so smooth, so clean...love it..

  • Hey buddy, I've seen all your vids and totally agree with Duke4Reuti, you are a truly gifted guy. Don't now what your trying to nail at the moment but take a look at a great instrumental called "Into the Arena" by Michael Schenker Group. Keep it up.......

  • @p484znf Hey, wow, thanks. I checked out "Into the Arena." It's got a nice driving riff, and his band is definitely tight. I'm actually not playing guitar at the moment (suddenly had some carpal tunnel like symptoms pop up, and I'm resting my wrists....probably shouldn't even be typing this, lol). Anyway, thanks for the recommendation, and I'm glad you enjoyed my videos.

  • Excellent job!

  • You did a great job here tehorix! This is the version that is tabbed in the Warren Haynes book. The original is on one of the Allman Bros CDs from the early 90s-great period for that band-and has a killer dual guitar solo with Dickey Betts.

The Mule is great-I've had Mulennium in non-stop rotation on my CD player for months now. Little Milton and Warren had great chemistry together, and the same thick Gibson tone.

My favorite Warren solo is from Blue Sky on An Evening With by the ABB.

  • This young man is very talented. Its just a matter of time before he is discovered. He plays with no struggle. Same with all of his songs. Guitar players are a dime a dozen. But this man has the music inside him. He has that special (it) that will one day payoff. Alot of times its who you know. This day and time w/youtube you can display your talent to ANYBODY! Good luck friend

  • @Duke4Reuti I really appreciate the kind words. Thanks!

  • Dude, thats epic!

  • this is fucking amazing man

  • Beautiful job on a Beautiful song!!

  • could you make a how to play video???

  • @jakersskates22 To be honest, I'm probably not going to make a "how to" video (at least any time soon), but this song is professionally tabbed out in the Best of Warren Haynes book. I'd check that out.

  • @tehorix789 alright thanks so much

  • exacto!

  • thank you for that good moment !

  • Hey! Man,, awesome playing,, learning from you,,, any tabs?

  • @hdknckr Some of my videos have links to tabs (that I made) in the description. This song is actually tabbed out just about perfectly in a book called Best of Warren Haynes.

  • nice job spot on!

    jake

  • This is off - The Deep End, Vol. 1

The guy singing with Warren is Little Milton, a blues artist who died in 2005.

    It's a great track.

  • that was simply AMAZING!

  • Hi..great version of this song . Who's playing with warren on this one and where can I find this recording? It's great!! thanks

  • @peanutavalon Thanks. Good question about who's playing with Warren on this one. I don't know, myself. I like the guitar playing and the guy's voice.

  • @tehorix789 I always thought it was Buddy Guy.

  • @tehorix789 maybe Little Milton?

  • @ddavis510 That's right! I remember looking that up a while back. I just saw on Wikipedia that it is him on "Soulshine."

  • @tehorix789 Hi man!!!!!!!!! very good job, I'll use your lesson to learn this solo!!!

I think that the voice/guitar you hear on the cd is Larry McCray, on you tube I think you can find something about him.

You're a talented guitarist, keep on rockin'!

    bye

  • nice cover

  • best cover i have ever seen on this song by farr!!!! you have the tabs?

  • @lambofgodfan117 I don't have a tab, but you should check out a tab book called Best of Warren Haynes. It has "Soulshine" tabbed note for note.

  • @tehorix789 alrighty, will do..and again..amaing job man, i only wish i was half as good as you are, keep it up

  • great job on this song!! its one of my favorites

  • sick dude

  • Great shot!!

  • I can't find the Allman Bros version of this in any transcription book anywhere. The only version I find is the Govt Mule's. Help me find it, let me know! Ahhhh!!!

  • Comment removed

  • that's a happy les paul

  • hey man how long have you been playing for and have you ever taken any lessons ???

    awesome stuff

  • I've been playing for about 12 years or so. I took lessons for the first 1 and a half years.

  • awesome man awesome

  • what pedal are you using here?

  • I'm actually not using any pedal on this video. I recorded using a Line 6 POD 2.0 going directly into the computer.

  • Complimenti! mi metto subito ad impararlo!

  • Helluva tone coming outta those Humbuckers.. You can't compare anything to a Gibson.

  • oh and awesome cover btw!

  • do you have a link to the backing track you used for this one?

  • This is actually the real mp3 from Gov't Mule.

  • ROCKED IT BRO

  • nice job dude

  • Hey dude yeah Christmas Jam... What a Blast

  • Hey man I was hanging with Warren and the Guys this past Saturday in Asheville

  • Ha, nice. Was there a show?

  • i have to learn this for my guitar school, and me being the student.

    :o

    its an amazeing song.

  • Good luck. It is a great song.

  • hot

  • TO THE "T"....

  • very nice

  • WOW Great Job! Cool sound!

  • nice job bro....

  • wheres the acurate tab for this?

  • In the Best of Warren Haynes tab book.

  • damn, i odn't have that book

  • Do you also have a backing track for this song?

  • Unfortunately, no. Although, I'd LOVE to find some Mule backing tracks.

  • why don't you try searching for the Allman Brother's version of Soulshine.. maybe you'd find it! =)

  • sweet video keep em comin helped me out a lot

  • Hey, I'm glad I could help.

  • Awesome! great job man!

  • awesome, just amazing! haha i absolutley love this song,it has been mine and my moms favorite song ever since i could remember!

  • Great song, outstanding job (thought it would be more impressive were it in one take).

  • here can i get this version of soulshine.? i got several from mule and the all bros but havent heard this one

  • This version is the one from Gov't Mule's album, The Deep End Vol. 1.

  • keep it coming "commander"!!!!

  • Great job 5*. is there any way you can tell me the chords for the verse and chorus?

  • un-be-fawking-leiveable!

  • yhea i found that if i use the neck pickup with a my modified tube screamer i can get a really nice smooth sound nonthing like warrens but preety dam close

  • Great tone tehorix! Thanks for showing us all how to play this sweet song. I saw you used a Line 6 POD 2.0 into the computer to get this sound but...

Does anyone know what would be a good small/mid sized combo amp to get this creamy tone from? Peavey Delta Blues? Classic 30? Mesa Boogie? help!!

  • fender blues jr

  • Hey Big,

Sorry I never responded to your post. I use the Fender Blues Junior for practices, and it works well. I just heard of the Blackheart amp (by Crate). It is reasonably priced and has some sweet tone.

  • hay man can you please tell me how you get that really amazing neck pickup sound like the one in the vid, do you think i would be able to get close with Burstbucker pros?

  • As far as tone, in general, goes......I've just recently discovered that if your amp settings are too bassy, you don't have many options with your sound. On the other hand, if you leave enough treble and clarity in the amp, then you can just vary your tone with the volume and/or tone knobs of the guitar (just lowering the volume with #1 make the sound cleaner and #2 will warm the tone a bit; lowering the tone knob will give you any needed bass).

And I def think the BB Pros could get u that.

  • I get that smooth overdrive tone out of BB pro's. I did see a moderate improvement when I added mojotone vitamin t caps, but BB pro's the bb pro's sounded good out of the box. GL

  • Sweet playing. Sweet.

  • please post the tab at ultimate guitar because none of the others are correct, thanks.maybe just some of the main parts minus the long solos.

  • I vote for a tab posting too. All the tabs up for soulshine suck.

  • YES!

we need a good tab at ultimate guitar

  • I might be able to transcribe this sometime, but seriously, the tab in the Best of Warren Haynes book is (I believe) just about totally accurate.

  • wow dude that was cool, thanks for the lesson.

  • great playing my friend... just spoke to your dad turned me on to your page.. rockin stuff my friend!

  • Hey, thanks alot. He just told me he spoke with you.

  • what amp are you using?

    sounds great, love your playing.

  • Hey thanks. On this video, I'm using the Line 6 POD 2.0 device, plugged directly into the computer.

  • what recording of soulshine is this from?

  • from Gov't Mule's album, The Deep End

  • Here's what you can do. One of my buddys told me to download realone's latest free version, and now when I view a video like this a "download" apperas at the top of the video and I just download it to realone. I've got a lot of great video's I want to learn from,so that's what I'll be doing the next couple of days starting with tehorix789's videos. Hope this helps someone as it did me.

  • Wow, thanks for bring that to my attention, lefty. I'll have to look into it. The YouTuber, PDXguitarlegend has a very professional sounding, "legalese" disclaimer on his vids that I might have to borrow.

  • By the way, I'm glad you seem to be getting something out of my videos. More to come when I find time (and a better camcorder!).

  • I've got an important message for all youtubers. Recently 2 of my favorites had to drop videos that had the song on in the background, like your song here, because of violating copy right laws or something to that effect. I've been warned that youtube is going to crack down on all copy right violation by having the video permantly removed.I use youtube as a learning tool first and formost ,so to loose great videos such as yours would be an absolute shame and loss.

  • O'k, the guitar is beautiful, your playing is spot on,and great tone, but that's not amazes me most-it's the fact that you posted this in the month of Feburary and your wearing shorts! It's only Oct. and it is 20 degrees outside this morning-I'm jealous.Have fun in the sun bro-great playin'.

  • Haha, well I was actually in Gainesville, FL then, and honestly it was pretty cold. Back in South Florida now......I'll take 95 degrees over 50 degrees any day (let alone 20!!).

  • love this song, & you did amazing! :)

  • Excellent job dude!! I was looking for this song and stumbled around on a couple, but I have found what I'm looking for in your version. Keep up the great work. What effects are you using?

  • Just using a Line 6 POD 2.0 going directly into the computer. I think the digital amp model was Soldano. Thanks!

  • do you have a tab for the whole solo?

you help me a lot if you do;)

  • I would, but the solo is tabbed out perfectly in the Best of Warren Haynes book.

  • do you think that that book is for sale in holland?

  • You could buy it online at like musiciansfriendDOTcom or another online site.

  • I will look for it thanks:D

Nice video btw i watched it over 30 times now;)

  • Wow thanks. I'm glad you liked it!

  • Dude! This was excellent! 99% flawless and in sync with the song. This was a very pleasant discovery. The 5-star rating I'm giving does not do this justice. Great job! :)

  • Hey, thanks a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • Thanks for posting...just happen to stumble upon this vid. Excellent!

  • Very nice, as many already said before. You really nailed Warren's guitar style!

I was wondering what scale are these solos played in? Can't figure it out...

  • The solos alternate between B major pentatonic and B minor pentatonic (so basically 3rd and 15th position is the major stuff, and 6th position is the minor stuff). That's probably an oversimplification, but accurate enough I think. Glad you liked the video.

  • awesome job!!!!!!!

  • Your videos are not only entertaining, but the clarity, view of your hands playing, and sound make it all so helpful for us intermediate guitarist to watch and learn from. Sweet.

  • very nice man, u got the feel too.

  • dude that is sick... Well done

  • Thanks so much excellent recording...I now have got soulshine off to a tee...........

  • Is there anyway you can give me the tabs of this song? I've search any most aren't accurate =/

  • I might be able to get around to a full tab eventually, but here is the chord progression: Bb, F, Eb, Bb (x3) | Bb, F, Gm, G# (before chorus) | Chorus: same as verse | Break: F (quickly) to Gm, Eb, Eb, Bb, Dm, Eb, G#, F | back to chorus.

  • In ur other comments from other people...they said that they learned this song from your tabbs... What tabbs are they referring too? I also am 17 years old tryin to get better at guitar lol...thanks a lot

  • You sure you aren't 26? ;-) Anyway, I've tabbed some stuff out (parts of songs) and put the links in the description boxes my videos. For this song, so far I've only tabbed out one riff. Hopefully more tabs to come.

  • wow. that was great exellent tone. so i take it you like gov't mule? lol i love them too! they are exellent! i don't know why none of my friends no who they are. that is when music was good! by tha way i am 17. and our music today sucks!!!

  • Hey, glad to hear you like the Mule. Yea, a lot of today's music is pretty bland. Even though Gov't Mule can be considered "classic rock derivative" or w/e, I still consider them to be today's music.

  • mule is still going, why did ytou say "that is when music was good"?

  • What kind of amp settings did you use to get the tone so close to right?

  • I used the Line 6 POD for this video, but I think I actually failed to switch it to digital mode (I accidentally kept on on amp mode, even though it was going into the computer). But in terms of settings, I think it was on the Soldano setting, but I don't remember the tone, lol, sorry.

  • Thank you very much for tabing out this difficult part !!!

    Szandor

  • You're welcome!

  • Hi there

I`ve leared to play the song after your vid but I realy can`t find out what you're playing between 3:20 to 3:27 - I tryed to find out for over 2 h

The rest of the song i've had no problems - it is this 7 seconds

If you can post the tabs for just this few seconds i'll appreciative it very very much.

May you can post the tabs on MULEARMY - I think it`s better than post them in here -(and more easy)

    Thanx tehorix789

  • Hey Szandor, I'm glad you learned something from my video. I went ahead and tabbed that part you had trouble with. I hope the tab is clear (there are some tricky parts that were hard to transcribe). You can find the link in the description box of this video. Good luck!

  • Very good. Your tempo was excellent and a good listen. Thanks

  • hey do you think you could post the tabs..i been lookin for the correct ones and i cant find them anywhere...thanks

  • Hey there. The song is actually tabbed just about perfectly IMO in the Best of Warren Haynes book. I hope to maybe do a tutorial on this song eventually, but in the meantime that book should help (plus it's got a bunch of other Mule tunes).

  • Awsume bro, would love a tutorial. This song does have alot to do with the soul.Rock on and thnx 4 posting.

  • Where do you find your backing tracks?

  • Hey man. All the Gov't Mule tracks (including this one) are the actual mp3s. But in my other vids, I got the backing tracks from guitarbtDOTcom (they're free). I also just found a site called LickLibraryDOTcom, but you gotta pay there. Nice new vid BTW.

  • thanks, man.

  • I have no doubt played this like, 10 times. I cant help but keep pressing play. Playing my game lol. Good stuff. Subscribe!

  • YOU SUCK!!!... lol... j/k

another beautiful job man. keep'em comin'

    how about doing Endless Parade?

i ordered my Mule tickets today!!! i'm stoked!!!

    rock on bro...

  • Awesome job on this! Great tone and playing!

  • my fav song of all time. glad you put it up, those solos are tricky and are nice to see. appreciate all the hard work. keep it up please!

  • great job

  • YOU.... YOU..... bastard!!! keep impressing me with every video.

please keep em' coming, dont wait so long.!

    how about some ABB?

  • lmao. you know, I don't think I know one Allman Brothers song in its entirety. Gotta get on that... =o

  • I think this technically is an ABB song, Warren wrote and recorded it on an Allman record in the early 90's, right around the same time he was just forming Mule.

  • you rock

  • One of my favorites. True definition of melodic phrasing. Thanks for sharing!

  • new guitar?

  • Haha, naw. It's my buddy's. I figured it was about time I used a Les Paul on a Mule track.

  • Tasty! You have been continually impressive :)

  • I'd seriously send you money for a tab.

  • lol! Well, if you insist.... =) Actually, even though I learned most of the song by ear, I just checked my Best of Warren Haynes book, and it's tabbed there how I play it. I do disagree with some of the other transcriptions, but it's still a useful book. Good luck!
