Its funny how obvious the bias of the program is. Hitchens was brought on so that he could be criticized for his opinions... though Reed and Falwell have said far worse far more frequently. Personally, I don't care if Falwell appologized for his remarks about 9/11. I don't buy that he meant that apology. If a man who wants to enforce his morality on others believes something like that, something so contrary to his religion, then he clearly is not fit to judge others.
Hannity is scum for ripping off Veterans with his fake Freedom Concerts and Ralph Reed was involved with the fraud Jack Abramoff committed against the Native Americans. Had it not been for Karl Rove Reed would have probably been in a jail cell next to Abramoff.
Hitchens was spot on in his description of Falwell. Hannity should be ashamed of his defense of a bigot like Falwell but since he rips off American Veterans I doubt Hannity can feel shame.
Hitchens could be high, drunk and almost passed out, and his brain would still be functioning at a far greater capacity than Hannity and Ralph Reed put together.
"I am sure there are atheists and communists that have done good things, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot" .. what a fucking asshole. Take any murderer from the 19th century or earlier and he's a Christian. Take assholes like George Bush, Osama Bin fucking Laden and both of them are religious top to bottom.
I love how Hannity is so quick to question Hitchens' "human decency", but never questions that of a man who compared a teenage girl to a dog and mocked a man with a degenerative illness (Limbaugh), or a woman who accuses widows of terrorist attack victims of "enjoying their husbands' deaths" (Coulter), or hell, even Falwell's, since he said the US had 9/11 coming and that non-Christians are failures as human beings.
notice how ralph reed doesn't dispute the fact that he and other evangelists are ripoff artists. Hitchens hit the nail on the head there and they didn't even try to defend themselves.
"Osama, Obama and your mama," were words uttered by Falwell just one week before he met Satan. Check out Christiana Amanpour's documentary about God's Christian Warriors on CNN/YouTube.
"There are a lot of nice atheists and communists that killed people"
That's all Christians do, it seems, to discredit atheism: point out that Communism was based on Marxism, which was a secular philosophy.
But really, Hannity? All someone has to do is give to charity and not kill anyone to gain your approval? When did the bar for being a good person be set so low?
@Atlantafried It's especaily entertaining when Hannity or O'Reilly bring on their intellectual/mental superiors and fail to see how badly they are being pwnd....
Here is what I find so messed up about Fox and Hannity. They bring in speakers on the right to rebut folks on the left. But they bring on the likes of Ralph Reed and Oliver North. With no sense of rationale or common sense. Why not bring in Jeffrey Dahmer to preach child safety. Yeesh!
Ralph Reed, what a Joke, another crooked charlatan like Jerry Falwell, the TBN crew of misfits and thieves, ripping off the American public so they can all be millionaires. These crooked monkey breed, all work together to rip off the public. The government needs to intervene and start taxing the hell out of them on income, and real property. They have been stealing from the American people long enough. Besides riding on the backs of the public while we pay for their free ride.
Hannity is nothing more then a GREEDY republican stooge. He lies about the economy and just another political lying puppet, can't stand the jerk. He brags about being a Catholic, and I doubt he can name over 10 books of the Bible. No wonder there is atheists when they have someone like Hannity to look to as an example of Christians, or false Christians I should say. Mathematics and poetry have often been related and compared by mathematicians. I'll see your Russell quote and raise you one by Weierstrass: "It is true that a mathematician who is not also something of a poet will never be a perfect mathematician."
And when he found out one of his best students had left mathematics for poetry, Hilbert said something like, "Good. He didn't have enough imagination to be a mathematician."
Speaking of Khayyam - and coming back full circle to religion - a lot of people in the so-called Muslim world arrogantly criticize Khayyam by saying he was a good mathematician but his poetry was mediocre. The depths to which people will stoop and the extent to which they'll sacrifice their honesty and intelligence to remain 'true' to an ideology.
Its awesome how they will tell Htichens to have respect and then go on to trash, Vonnegut, Kennedy and pretty much any one who dosent fit the stations political ideologies.
"Pseudo intellectually superior mind of yours". Do you really understand what you are saying Sean? You don't do you? How this brash, vulgar, inarticulate, knuckle-dragging jock thinks he could score points in a debate - semantic, moral or otherwise - with Christopher Hitchens is beyond me. Shut up Hannity, to say you are out of your league would be a vast understatement. Idiot.
My god I completely agree with you. That "pesudo-intellectual" line was only said to score some intelligence points- something Hitchens has a-plenty.
Hitchens wasn't being nice, but that's not why they got him on the show. He told his mind and was honest when asked questions and he didn't lie. Say! Isn't that what the Bible teaches?
But how can you expect some employees of Fox to be on par with Hitchens? Like you said- way out of their league (intellectually and rhetorically).
Hitchens does something a great many Americans don't or can't do. THINK CRITICALLY. He is correct about Falwell, who only had any credibility because of his title and his money which he swindled out odf his listeners. But America is so dumbed down, it can't think straight. Superstition and ignorance abounds.
While I disagree vehemently with Hitchens, he has a point: they invited him on the show, they know where he stands. If they were really interested in honoring Jerry Falwell, what the hell is Christopher Hitchens doing there? Falwell's name is gonna get dragged through the mud on the one news network that would look on his life favorably.
1)Last year I had an argument with this bleedin heart atheist Democrat fella. He was yakkin on about this & that, & got downright rude. So I smuck him on the head with a wrench & dragged him kickin & screamin to ma workshop. I puts his head in the vise & began to tighten it real hard like. Then I gots ma hacksaw & started a sawin the top off his skull off, & he kept a fussin & a cussin like nobodys business.
2) When I finished, I could see his brain sittin real purty there in the top o his head. I thought, hell, he don need no brain while his heads in this vise. So I pulled it clean out, stuck it in a plastic bag, & put it in the freezer. Once in a while I pull a piece off, & fry it up with some 'taters or sumpin while Im listenin to Jimmy Swaggart.
Long winded Hitchens--when you can't win a debate, start shouting as loud as you can and talk over everybody. What a jackass--how can anybody with half a functioning brain cell follow Hitchens? What a bunch of naive idiots.
Actually, the one who was lacking substance in his statements was Hannity, not Hitchens...Hannity interrupts people all the time. The only reason Hitchens was interrupting in this interview was because it was unfair and they invited an Abramoff tool
Shouting? what video have you ever seen Hitchens shouting? You obviously either have him mistaken with someone else or you don't know what your talking about?
The jackass' are the people like Falwell,Haggard,Hovind,Robertson etc.... If you want to aee the largest collection of morons in one setting om any day of the week look no further than the church.
The sad thing is that most american's brain cells are under the spell of religion .These are the true idiots, especially Sean Hannity
And as far as "winning a debate", what is the debate here? Falwell was a crook, just like a majority of all the other pious individuals who make a lot of money using religion as a business. If there is a hell as Falwell described hopefully he's in it.
The better question is how can idiots like yourself follow the GOP or people like Hannity. Spare me the christian values crap. Imaginary stories for weak minds is the catalyst & had an liberal made the 9/11 comment Hannity would have become rabid.
Actually I'm good in that dept but since it's Sunday you could say a prayer to your imaginary God for me or maybe you could tell me how Hannity maintains his wind-tunnel tested hairdo?
Yeah, most likely I do have you confused with her. Because the only thing you'll ever make love to is your right hand while thinking of the four men you mentioned. You are very correct here. There are no females in the picture for you. Just these OTHER men.
I'm left handed not right for starters & you certainly have a bizarre interest in my sexuality for some reason? I also noticed you talked about "giving back rubs" too; you aren't Ted Haggards son by any chance are you or perhaps his unnamed lover?
You cant go to imaginary places like Heaven if you behave or talk like that Jimmy!
Hitchen might of been stumbled by individuals such as Jerry Falwel, leaving him hopeless. Christians are supposed to help people have hope by speaking the truth without judging others. Individual like Jerry should have done the will of our Heavenly Father by his faith. (not his religion). We christian should never preach hate, and start helping hopeless people such as Hitchens. Fox is not helping this situation, instead, making it worse for him and everyone else.
He has no requirement of your "help." Drop the patronising tone and keep thy religion to thyself. Nor are you in a position to brand another human being "hopeless."
It has nothing to do with religion. instead, it is about having hope. As I mentioned. Please do not be upset about "religion". I am not about "religion", I'm am hopeful,
Please try to understand before you speak. Of course I'm in no position to brand another. I'm only speaking to what I understand, and what I see without judging my fellow human. Of course you have a choice, He said if you deny Him,
He will deny you in the presence of the Father. It is your choice.
But somebody can have hope without associating it with belief in any God, or specifically yours. This word isn't exclusive to theists and one with no belief is not "hopeless" and to imply this looks like intent to cause offense. If that was not your intent and if you're not defining the word "hope" by it's definition then I understand to some extent.
I guess the question is what is your beleif?, I beleive that if anyone has any sense that if they were given a knowledge of what is right and wrong, and if they were given a free will of choice, so there must be the one who was,who is, and the one who is to come. I guess I really can't put my hope in mankind, because man has been known to make poor choices in which it fails him, and of course often has consequenses. Mankind has made poor choice in the begining, which brought us death.
My post was not an open invitation for you to begin preaching dogmatic beliefs. My qualm was the specific offensive terminology used being "hopeless" when referring to non-believers.
Christians do not need any specific, just faith in our heavenly Father. The christian bible was is the word of our Heavenly Father which is written by individuals with the Holy Spirit givin to those by our Heavenly Father (for those who understand). Christ had to deal with the religious leaders the (pharacessies) during his walk on earth, and they had him prosecuted, and judge him to die.
What you just described is a religion. It's a religion called Christianity, and those beliefs are specific to Christian faith. Nothing you just said had anything to do with the hope that you claimed to offer instead of religion. (How do those specific "facts" about the Bible and the life of Christ offer any comfort from suffering and death?)
Simply changing the words you use to describe your faith does not change its content. Saying won't make it so.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

chrisohare76 2 years ago 6
And why not, and why not, and why not a word now from the friend of Jack Abramoff to give a kosher stamp to religious fraud.
That's all it needs now. Let's hear from the Abramoff faction and a lot of other religious rip off artists. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Fucking Brilliant!

Idiot.
rjajc 2 years ago 7
@ rjajc

Hitchens is a drunk and a boor. I think the New Atheist movement should be embarassed by having him as their spokesperson.
NoJeanNoMoney1 2 years ago
you've also refuted all of his points i see
halcyondaze82 2 years ago
While I disagree vehemently with Hitchens, he has a point: they invited him on the show, they know where he stands. If they were really interested in honoring Jerry Falwell, what the hell is Christopher Hitchens doing there? Falwell's name is gonna get dragged through the mud on the one news network that would look on his life favorably.
It's a grab for ratings, pure and simple.

Is this dialog from the movie "Deliverance"?

JIMMYLINE 2 years ago
Actually, the one who was lacking substance in his statements was Hannity, not Hitchens...Hannity interrupts people all the time. The only reason Hitchens was interrupting in this interview was because it was unfair and they invited an Abramoff tool
masudrules 2 years ago 6
Shouting? what video have you ever seen Hitchens shouting? You obviously either have him mistaken with someone else or you don't know what your talking about?
The jackass' are the people like Falwell,Haggard,Hovind,Robertson etc.... If you want to aee the largest collection of morons in one setting om any day of the week look no further than the church.
The sad thing is that most american's brain cells are under the spell of religion .These are the true idiots, especially Sean Hannity
alanpfuhl 2 years ago 2
And as far as "winning a debate", what is the debate here? Falwell was a crook, just like a majority of all the other pious individuals who make a lot of money using religion as a business. If there is a hell as Falwell described hopefully he's in it.
The better question is how can idiots like yourself follow the GOP or people like Hannity. Spare me the christian values crap. Imaginary stories for weak minds is the catalyst & had an liberal made the 9/11 comment Hannity would have become rabid.
alanpfuhl 2 years ago 3
Well, I rest my case. Hitchen's is calling. I think he needs a kiss from you.
JIMMYLINE 2 years ago
I'm just curious; are you wearing your " I love Sean Hannity & Jesus loves me" t-shirt while replying?
alanpfuhl 2 years ago 2
Actually, it says: "I love alanpfuhl. He needs a big hug right now."
JIMMYLINE 2 years ago
Actually I'm good in that dept but since it's Sunday you could say a prayer to your imaginary God for me or maybe you could tell me how Hannity maintains his wind-tunnel tested hairdo?
alanpfuhl 2 years ago
He has you braid his hair at night after you give him his back rub. In the morning, when you wake up next to each other, you style his hair for him.
JIMMYLINE 2 years ago
Well that's not possible because I'm in league with the 4 horsemen Hitchens,Dawkins, Harris & Dennett so I couldn't possibly have been there?
I think you have me confused with your wife on this one, I don't find Hannity or the religious right attractive.
alanpfuhl 2 years ago
Yeah, most likely I do have you confused with her. Because the only thing you'll ever make love to is your right hand while thinking of the four men you mentioned. You are very correct here. There are no females in the picture for you. Just these OTHER men.
JIMMYLINE 2 years ago
I'm left handed not right for starters & you certainly have a bizarre interest in my sexuality for some reason? I also noticed you talked about "giving back rubs" too; you aren't Ted Haggards son by any chance are you or perhaps his unnamed lover?
You cant go to imaginary places like Heaven if you behave or talk like that Jimmy!

Shhhhh!! Don't tell my wife! While she's with Hannity, I'm with Haggard!

Fox is not helping this situation, instead, making it worse for him and everyone else.
macdogq 2 years ago
He has no requirement of your "help." Drop the patronising tone and keep thy religion to thyself. Nor are you in a position to brand another human being "hopeless."
n0deity 2 years ago
It has nothing to do with religion. instead, it is about having hope. As I mentioned. Please do not be upset about "religion". I am not about "religion", I'm am hopeful,
Please try to understand before you speak. Of course I'm in no position to brand another. I'm only speaking to what I understand, and what I see without judging my fellow human. Of course you have a choice, He said if you deny Him,
He will deny you in the presence of the Father. It is your choice.
macdogq 2 years ago
But somebody can have hope without associating it with belief in any God, or specifically yours. This word isn't exclusive to theists and one with no belief is not "hopeless" and to imply this looks like intent to cause offense. If that was not your intent and if you're not defining the word "hope" by it's definition then I understand to some extent.
n0deity 2 years ago
I guess the question is what is your beleif?, I beleive that if anyone has any sense that if they were given a knowledge of what is right and wrong, and if they were given a free will of choice, so there must be the one who was,who is, and the one who is to come. I guess I really can't put my hope in mankind, because man has been known to make poor choices in which it fails him, and of course often has consequenses. Mankind has made poor choice in the begining, which brought us death.
macdogq 2 years ago
My post was not an open invitation for you to begin preaching dogmatic beliefs. My qualm was the specific offensive terminology used being "hopeless" when referring to non-believers.
n0deity 2 years ago
So you are not about religion, you are about hope - a very specific kind of hope that only religion can provide.
PtrckSh 2 years ago
Christians do not need any specific, just faith in our heavenly Father. The christian bible was is the word of our Heavenly Father which is written by individuals with the Holy Spirit givin to those by our Heavenly Father (for those who understand). Christ had to deal with the religious leaders the (pharacessies) during his walk on earth, and they had him prosecuted, and judge him to die.
macdogq 2 years ago
What you just described is a religion. It's a religion called Christianity, and those beliefs are specific to Christian faith. Nothing you just said had anything to do with the hope that you claimed to offer instead of religion. (How do those specific "facts" about the Bible and the life of Christ offer any comfort from suffering and death?)
Simply changing the words you use to describe your faith does not change its content. Saying won't make it so.
PtrckSh 2 years ago
Decency? You've got to be kidding me!

The matchbox joke was already done, far better, by Hitchens.
When fat bastard JF croaked, he certainly did create a lot more space. And some fresh air, I might add.
Every time you post you add Buy-bull quotes. To we non-believers, that's as ineffective as hearing a caveman chanting to his volcano god.
