you have to wonder why more people with these big trucks don't go turbo.a 600hp 350 can make more torque than a 600hp 454 and make that hp and tq over a wider rpm range.you don't have run high stalls to get them to work and idling and cruising they get much better mileage

His little excuse, 'The rev limiter didn't want to hit second'. Whats a rev limiter have to do with the transmission? All a rev limiter does is cuts out the ignition at whatever limit you set it at, so you can't over rev and damage the engine. It must have been set pretty high on this as the engine just screams as it, and the turbo, starve for oil. I think the driver missed the shift. Their kinda' fun never lasts, because you get what you pay for. I agree, the other 4x4 is the better one.

im thinking about a remote setup with the turbo's in the bed of the truck and im planning on 2 garrett GT4088 turbo's out of a DAF truck (they have used the 60 holsets in the past) mounting the turbo's in the bed might keep them out of the mug a set of truckstacks exaust and roofmounted inlet for the air makes it more waterproof , does take a bit more plumbing for lubrication

regardless if your checking afr or boost pressure....i can tell that this engine and turbo will not be lasting long at all anyways. you expended half the engines life and wore the turbo plum out in three minutes. plus, what good is a turbo gonna do for a mudder? when your stuck and your wheels are spinning, your stuck. Right?

I'm a little confused how you think the engines life was reduced by half and the turbo is now wore out after this short video? I can tell you the engine/turbo went on to do many more runs like this. It was ultimately pulled in favor of a big block twin turbo setup. The smallblock and it's turbo are in working order awaiting the next thing to go into.

Turbos increase HP, HP turns tires fast , fast turning tires clean out for better traction and mud throwing fun. :)

The engine will only expend half of engines life if its not tuned right. if the AFR, ignition and counterpressures are ok the engine will run like stock engine.

Off road use to me seems like you would want lots of torque at low rpms without the possible lag a turbo can have.

Your best bet would be gas because they run at higher RPM. It spins the tires faster cleaning the mud from them therefore ubtaining more traction. That supposible billion HP would get the tires spinning faster with more torque so it would help with mudding quite a bit. For the record because Drag week participants use turbos doesn't make it a characteristic for cars only. They are useful in many ways.
