These old clips bring back good memories of when I was a kid in the '70s. We used to watch All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show and the Bob Newhart Show and then Carol Burnett every Saturday night. After Carol Burnett, Houston Wrestling would come on in southeast TX and southwest Louisiana after the local news.

Great episode and something rare. The other cast members were famous for cracking up during the skits. Vicki Lawrence could normally hold it together. Look at her face when they push her out of the chair. SHe is cracking up

Just noticed a little mistake. When the family shows up at Mickeys apartment, the curtain to the kitchen area is completely closed. Ed points out the "Happy 5th sign" , then Ed and Mickey reminisce over mickey's first day on the job, Mama asks to sit down, then the camera shows them all, and this time the curtain to the kitchen area is wide open.

More than likely it's because this particular episode was edited for syndication. They take too much out sometimes and then the episode is lacking. I'd love to have an unedited version of this one! :-)

Yeah, I've watched Carol Burnett in syndication, going back to the late 1970s. Those half hour programs with several skits. I've NEVER seen a full and complete, uncut episode, which I would love to.

I would say on the first take they opened it up to get the beer then they had to do another take when every body lost it getting Viki out of the chair so when the did the second take they left the curtain open.

So slips like this made it through.

Watching Part 1 of Mickey's Apartment you can tell that Vicki Lawrence had a very hard time from laughing especially after Mickey told Mother Harper that we're going to have to dump her out of the chair. Absolutely priceless to watch.

You could feel compassion for her, but she was so damned annoying! All of "the family" were ignorant, tactless, endlessly critical and yammering emotional cripples.
