  • Beautiful images, katydid! Thank you.

  • i like this song

  • katydidscorner, thank you for all the excellent pictures of Cat Stevens in this video. This is one of my favorites...can you believe that Cat has been my favorite singer/songwriter throughout my entire life? It's true. And now that he's older and more mellow I love him just as much as ever.

  • I'm going through some difficult stuff in my life, and remembered this song....his voice, his passion, his searching for truth and spirituality, the REAL most important things of life are in this song. Trying to do right, trying to push through obstacles, trying to make the right decisions in this short life....all of it.

  • I saw Cat stevens sing this at William & Mary Hall in Virginia as part of the "Majikat Tour". This was the opening song as he emerged from a set of stacked boxes. It is still one of the best concert openings I have ever sees. I was enthralled from the beginning to the end. Great memories. A true poet.

  • This is one of the best albums ever. Every track is class.

  • This is my graduation song, you're going to wind up where you started from

  • Another one of Cat's music gems. He is a supremely talented man. I'm so happy he's on this planet.

  • ATTENTION I FOUND PROVE OF THE EXISTENCE OF A VERY VERY RARE CAT STEVENS CLIP OF ''MAYBE YOUR RIGHT'' I POSTED THE EVIDENCE IN A VID: /watch?v=Eq0b1Xazydg

PLEASE PEOPLE WE NEED THIS! HELP NOW NEEDED!

EVERY CAT STEVENS FAN HELP NOW!

GIVE THIS THUMBS UP SO IT GET NOTICED!

    COPY AND PASTE THIS!

  • brings back memories....it´s good to be alive

  • Ode to Yusuf, Beyond me, in a sea of passions, this life of intimate pleasures drifts slowly into countless thoughts, places, shapes, faces. But I seek a mere portion of this realm where love is free and true where I can be me as you are so beautifully you G.Gabriel, Canadian at S.H.A.P.E Belgium for 3 years. 11 Jan 11
  • @redshirtish You don't have a style. You're not writing poetry. Please don't invoke the names of talented and insightful writers, because you are not one of them. Hate feeds hate, and the cycle just repeats down the line. I think we need to rise above it to break the cycle. It seems pretty obvious to me.

  • Yusuf Islam drops Islam from his name

Yusuf Islams web page you can read him saying why he has dropped Islam From His Stage Name and that he will not wear islamic clothes or a turban and that he regrets being a conformist to the islamic crowd when he first converted. We are seeing the true Cat Stevens near the end of his life now understand that death threats and islamic fundamentals are anti human and not God he is changing he was great he can be great again

  • Cat, when I get tired of dealing with my broken life, I look at you and all seems well and safe again. You bring back my innocence, my passion and lots of hope. How can I ever thank you?

    Holly

  • @MsHolly95 by stop eating pork.

  • @johnkorner you do no christians isnt suppose to eat pork eather is just that muslims dont skip reading verses from their book.

  • @zbvvc so christians eat pork and muslims don't. now honor him by stop eating pork, as i said.

  • @zbvvc Jesus said that it is not what goes into a man (food) that makes him unclean, but what comes out of him that makes him evil and unclean (bad words, thoughs, actions).

  • @redshirtish Firstly, if you want to get your point across, try to use punctuation. I don't even know what the hell you were trying to say in your first paragraph.

I know it's much easier to see the world through hate. It clears everything up and puts people into tidy little packages. Yes, I do believe you are afraid. Hate is nearly always based in fear, and fear is a basic survival mechanism that so many allow to rule their lives. Hate is weakness, and it affects everyone.

  • @dusdead "hate is weekness" so why did Yusuf Islam call for another mans death is that hate or is it love in your punctuated little world

I have never seen the world through hate since I have worked with Buddhists of burma with refugees and Amnesty International

you are a moral coward and I will write my style which was fine for ee cummings Celine Kerouc and Ginsberg

grow up son your just out of baby pants

  • Man, it would be a long list if we pointed fingers at all the wingnut Christians that hate this or that. It must be sad existence to live in such perpetual fear.

  • @dusdead must be sad to assume all those against Yusuf Islam are wingnot Christians Buddhists Hindus atheists are against islamic death threats

no one fears muslims only the ignorant like you who kiss their arses

The latest WikiLeaks revelation: 1 in 3 British Muslim students back killing for Islam and 40% want Sharia law so does Yusuf Islam

muslims are spongers on the western Christian society go to a muslim country we do not want you here

  • And who or what is the difference bewteen God and Allah? Isn't there only one God?

  • @StephenB58

Allah is a different god he hates teddy bears called Mohammed and has his followers kill anyone who "insults" him

there is only one God but he isn't concerned about you eating bacon sandwiches or naming teddy bears he is they tell us concerned with love

  • @redshirtish Really? What God is that? Is it the same God in Leviticus who FORBID any Hebrew Jew to eat "bacon" from swine, or would that be Jesus, a Hebrew Jew, who never allowed the forbidden bacon to ever touch his tongue? If it's that God, then I think Leviticus is very clear on that matter as was Jesus, who followed all the same laws set out in Leviticus. I can't stand bigots.

  • @katydidscorner " I cant stand bigots" so it is bigoted to protest that Yusuf Islam is wrong to condemn another man to death or agree with the stoning of women?

but it is not bigoted in your tiny little mind to call for a mans death

grow up you silly little bigot

  • Miles from no where would be his best.

  • i love this song

  • Emptiness is form and form is emptiness.

  • his best ......for sure

  • @LarryFogarty His 2nd best. Father and Son was his best.

  • @stk6mkt your prop right

  • Thanks for posting this song - after all these years, I still admire Cat/Yusuf's beautiful songwriting - it never gets old or dated!

  • YouTube should get rid of the 'dislike' button. It doesn't apply to this video or many others...

  • By the way, I think there is a version of this song performed during the Majikat tour, but unfortunately was not released in the album, for reasons I don't know!- I wish if I could listen to it sometimes!

    Thanks,..

  • @ChangesIV Yes there is !!!

  • @Aurarisma Oh yes!! I'd like to see it! I watched a documentary sometimes before, and a breif sample of 'sitting-Majikat' was included! when I saw it, I said: Wow, is this really other songs performed on the Earth Tour that weren't released on the album!

  • @ChangesIV I would love hear it again as well.. I was at that concert and the one in Cleveland 2 days before ... If you go on my Channel you can see Yusuf do Sitting its my second favorite on my channel!! xoxoxxx

  • The best song of Cat's Stevens. The moment, his found new life. Genial song!!!+

  • Muchisimas gracias katydiscorner por esta soberbia cancion y este montage.Veo que sabes hablar español y eres fan de Cat Stevens.Para mi es uno de los mejores cantantes y autores de todos los tiempos.

  • One of Cat's best songs from his best album Catch Bull at Four..simply wonderful music.

  • beautiful and nice job on the pictures too~

  • this song is sittin i believe

  • WONDERFUL !!

  • @plaebslayer absolutely NOT!

  • @plaebslayer wow chill out people....

I only knew of Cat Stevens in the 70's. That's the 70's music culture I remember as a child. I love the 70's laid back style. He's indicative of that to me.....and I like listening to him due to the nostalgia he generates for me. I like who he is and I like his personality, PERIOD.

That's all. NO Muslim/American cultural bias here, so please don't infer it.

  • The piano takes me back to my days in the NAVY in 87'. We were stationed in Sydney and I got news my youngest brother was born. I was drinking heavy then and messing around with girls, but I got the letter from home and this song came on and it changed me forever. The pain in Cat's voice inspired me and showed me that you can live through pain and still find righteousness.

  • my absolute fav song from catch bull at 4. I use to play and replay this record for hours. I no longer have any of my records. Thanks so much for posting!!

  • God, this song is...great. Why can't anyone make music like this anymore?

  • Beautfiul and moving...

  • lovely Cat Stevens!!!!

  • yes !!!!!

    straordinaria canzone bellissima

  • best song ever..........

  • I heard this song in 1972-3 when I was in Chapel Hil. I was so absorbed in the lines and tune that I must have heard it thousand times. Even today, this song has the same haunting and vibrating effect. I don't know how he framed the words and how he composed the music. It is touching and heart rending.

  • I agree...something about his music can bring you straight back into the moment like a bookmark in time.

I not only like his music, I like his personality.

  • i think so too . sing it , it will make you feel sooo gooood ;-)

  • The best song Cat Stevens ever made.

  • GREAAAAAAAAT !!!

  • Lost Stevens, what happened to you.

  • @seanamico cat stevens is not lost, he finally found his way, the right way!

  • @IParaIDizZe, Sorry, the music you hear is gone, the man created it is gone, it does not exist and what you claim is nothing but rubbish.

  • he says "hair". it says so in the actual vinyl 45

  • I feel the power growing in my hair..

  • The epitome of being a human being. Wise, reflective and indicative of his early, original culture.

  • @blaziermissy he is much more happy in his actual culture!

  • Genius

  • what an epic tune!

  • Thank you katydidscorner, for making youtube a better place with Cat/Yusuf. I have always loved this song, its intensity, the need he had to know, to learn, to grow. What a beautiful human being; he has done humanitarian work all over the world for the last 3 decades. And he exudes humility and gentleness. May Allah give him long life and contentment.

  • I couldn't have said it better. Thank you.

  • Pienso igual que tú leslie.

  • he has always looked so peaceful.

    such a beautiful soul

    god i love him!

  • <3 te amo yusuf

  • muy buena si señor la onozco desde q era niño buenisima

  • Oh, I'm on my way, I know I am

  • Excelent song, I like specially the piano!

  • Had forgotten this great song Was it Elvis Costello covering it on The Invention of Lying soundtrack?

  • He really did take us into his journey with his music. He said things others felt, but perhaps were not good at verbalizing.

It made you feel like you weren't doing the walk alone.

God bless him for sharing his musical gift.

  • I feel the power growing in my hair.

  • Thanks for posting this - I love this song and I love Cat Stevens

  • When I hear this song? I understand why I he converted. He spelled it out in this song!

  • Is there a concert video anywhere for this song

Its my all time fav and I really want to see him performing it

  • wonderful song...ty

  • Negative 3 for THAT comment?

  • BigglesworthIV:

YOU are the proof, idiot, your being, even your profanity, atheism and stupidity is proof enough for us, you are the little stone in our shoes, we were warned by GOD of assholes like you, that is why YOU are the proof!

  • This song is about reaching enlightenment. Something greater that we are all going to achieve. God bless, or Allah bless. All the same one universal god. Love Peace and Harmony.

  • fantastic song!!!!

  • This is one of my favs! Definitely well known if you are a fan? Love it!

  • HOPE

  • Assalamu alaikum

  • @Skruffey65 Did you say "Hot salami and Bacon?"

  • It seems like this song isn't as well known as some of his other songs judging by the amount of views for this one and his others. I can't understand why though, it is one of if not his best songs.

  • Love this song...

  • the song of my life - thank you for that musical mirror cs

  • One of my favourites! He's just amazing!

  • This song:

    My Life.

  • indeed - same words

  • Uforgettble masterpiece!!!!

  • -nice song- very nice album-nice souvenirs-

  • This is my most favorite song ever I love it!!!!!!

  • 5*****

    nicely done!

  • When I hear this song, his spiritual journey totally makes sense to me!

  • Please Obama! Let's hope Cat is allowed to re-enter the U.S. with a less paranoid administration that prevented his entry because he's Muslim. He's always taught peace and still does. America loves him and we miss him.

  • I really love the way Cat Stevens is about to turn a story into a song and always keeps the theme repetitive and going back to define what he had said earlier. 2:13 has always been a pinnacle point and stage for me.

"....Bleeding half my soul in bad company, I thank the moon I had the strength to stop

I'm not making love to anyone's wishes, only for that light I see...."

  • thanks for great video:)

  • esa cancion sta genial

  • jesus lol

  • I saw him twice at the Providence Civic Center in '74 & '76. On the MagicKat Tour this was the first song he sang when he moved to piano. He opened with The Wind & Moonshadow. I read they excluded this song from the DVD because he waved off a cameraman that got in his way while performing. The second show, on March 8th, 1976 was one of the best I ever saw. The sound was super. Jzero and Wild World were the songs he sang for his encore that night.

  • thanks for posting what the concert was like...

this is my favorite song... how can we get the live version on video?

  • Best Song Ever.

  • I totally agree. First time I heard it, I listened to it over and over. Just love it.

  • me toooooooo... i am still doing it now :D

  • One of my favorites...

  • PeaceTrainHaiti...me too...one of my all time favorites. I have this on a cassette at home which is about 22 years old, from Greatest Hits.

  • Great job Katydidscorner. I enjoy your work. Keep it up. Liz

  • pocuddm...yeah Katy did a great job on this. I love the pics. This is one of the greats. Full of symbolism, spiritual, and fierce. Almost a sense of angst or frustration in his voice.

  • Precioso conjunto de imagenes.Entre ellas y la cancion gusta repetir.Perfecto.

  • Gracias, usé la Fototienda para añadir la gráfica a todavía imágenes que extraje del viaje de Majikat 1976. Este es una de mis canciones favoritas, pero amo todas sus canciones. Por favor vote si le gusta esto.
