There is no "maps" folder in my steam.

@LinksPartner First find the folder for your name, then "portal" and there should be another one in there with "portal" and then if there is not a maps in that folder, create one.

@Westy543 hey i'm having a problem. My computer will only play .bmz files. When i try importing your map into portal it won't even find the .bsp because it has a setting that makes it look specifically to .bmz files. Any thoughts on the issue?

@Westy543 I figured it out. In the directory (...\steamapps\username\portal­\)

if you try playing other maps the game engine will only accept .bmz files.

But if you go in the directory: (...\steamapps\username\portal­\portal\) [yes there is a portal folder inside portal] then the game will automatically recognize .bsp files and add them to your bonus maps list.

@DevastatingDemise there was a fix in it but if it still does it there is a config file (cant remember look at all the config files in notepad) and look for bmz and either add bmp or change bmz to bmp

@rollymaster16 It's not supposed to. You don't get to it via bonus maps... load it with the developer console. Go to options, keyboard (first tab), click "advanced" at the bottom and enable the developer console. Hit ~ (next to 1) and type in the developer console "map portal_playground_v1" (no quotes). I apologize if I have come across as demeaning.

Naw, the readme is just a help file. You don't need it for the game to recognize the map. But the map does have to go in the \maps folder.

Because Left 4 Dead was the most recently installed program that handles .bsp files, so it changed the icon.
