His voice was more emotional, the instrumentation was more soul, bluesy. Its a good thing that they've gained fans! I just don't like their change in sound. They kinds surrendered one of the things that made them so unique.

People will forget about them, labels will drop them. They will work hard again and if they have talent will come back with a great album.

And it's sort of his trademark to U2-ify a bands sound. Try listening to Modest Mouse's Dramamine, then listen to Float On. Or with these guys, listen to Saint John then this and you'll see what I mean. People are mad because they lost their old sound that got them where they are today.
