  • I live in Montrose and have visited this place many times and it is still a wonder! My son was found 1800 ft. below Chasm View here so yeah this place holds good and bad memories.

  • imagine you are a young native american in about 1200bc and you have walked for hundred of miles and you encounter this canyon confronting your journey... what a powerful place.... i have to check that out sometime... thanks for sharing

  • In 1874 Ferdinand Hayden and his explorers were mapping the american west, fresh from mapping the grand canyon he tried to map the black canyon after spending 3 days in the inner canyon he pronounced that no man who ventured into the canyon would come out alive & moved on, I'm a local & fish the canyon regularly & theres moments where the canyon still scares me.

  • Hey, my last name is Gunnison!!

  • The road around this canyon is the MOST winding road I beleive my wife and I have ever been on... and very beautiful. Thanks for the memories

  • I wonder if this canyon looked different before they built Blue Mesa Dam.
