@Earthium I'm not sure... There are no official names for anyone except Madotsuki. I'm pretty sure the rest were just collectively decided by the fanbase at one point. For instance, Masada's name was reportedly decided in a thread on 2ch, and his full name is "Sentimental Komuro Michael Sakamoto Dada-sensei"... Seccom Masada or just Masada for short.
At least, that's what I remember anyway, could be wrong. It's been a while since I've nosed around in this fandom.
@BobTurk12 Some parts are, such as Monoko and Monoe. Those are both full-screen events and usually scare the hell out of people. There is also Uboa, so try finding HIM. This is a true adventure game at heart, but can get creepy at some times. There are many theories of it, and read it and it MIGHT get rid of your nightmares of this game. So go ahead, in my opinion it is scary.
@scottyscreamer I think that's the first I've heard of car accident theories involving Masada... But people relate a lot in Yume Nikki to car accidents though, what with all the detached body parts you find (and Shitai, of course). It'd go with that "everyone in car accidents" theme, if you're being more specific than "all of Mado's friends are dead".
Mabey he was just murdered with a knife because when ever I bring it out he runs away from me ulike the other monsters. People's eyes can also go 6_9 if you stab them in the head.
But I don't really buy the whole drugs theory, I mean, if that was the case, then why is'nt Masada dead when the UFO crashes?
That would be an obvious allusion that perhaps he did a terrible mistake, but in this case, he is indeed still very alive. Perhaps he dreamed himself higher up, blinding himself in grand ambitions to become a great pianist, but failed miserably and fell down to the ground in defeat?
@jepajei No real reason besides the fact that she probably knew him (for the sake of argument that her dream world is based on her life) and he has a big piano in front of him.
Masada might be an adult that Madotsuki secretly be in love with, but Masada doesnt see it that way. When Madotsuki sleeps in his space ship could be implied that he let her stay in his flat/house for a period of time. One popular theory was that Masada is her piano teacher, and probably the only young adult that she trust at the moment, but their feelings are probably just platonic or one sided.
@hanchiman Most people just assume Masada reciprocated whatever feelings Madotsuki had for him and that's why they were so apparently close, but Masada never really shows any signs of doing so when you look at it. It makes more sense, in any case.
Yeah, somehow its a bit sad, but on the same time, I dont think the society would accept it. I mean if Masada (assuming he was a real person in this game) really returned his feelings towards Madotsuki, he would be in trouble from the law, Madotsuki seems to be in her early to mid teen while Masada probably in his 20's, either that or Masada already have significant other and only see Madotsuki as one of his normal student/paycheck for his job as a teacher.
My personal theory is that Masada isn't a specific person, but the way Madotsuki views some adults in general. Throughout the short time I spent with him, I felt like he was a trustworthy friend. I felt scared for him when the ship was crashing, and I felt sad when I couldn't get back to him from the planet. He's too vague to assign to one specific person, so I think that he represents the people that Madotsuki feels she can really trust.
Actually, that makes more sense. The more specific Masada theories (like the drug addiction) admittedly probably stem from an idea of what Masada should be and details are fished to support that, instead of being an actual conclusion...
I still wonder at him being up in a spaceship though. Maybe the particular adults Madotsuki trusted were weird people, alien in society? That she's a shut-in implies that she could have trust issues with most adults, maybe the "normals"?
I agree with you. Masada is isolated and strange, a quality that most people don't find to be positive. The meaning I find behind the strange and isolated Masada is that, even though some people may be weird and seem distant, there is much more to them than it seems. For example, Masada's ship seems very bleak and boring, but when a more in-depth analysis is taken (the event for the bed takes a few tries at times) a whole new world is opened up.

There's more speculation that Masada was Madotsuki's Piano Teacher who one day left her and got into a car accident. .-.

I loved Masada, his face was so kind and inviting.
A huge contrast to the rest of the Dream World.
