  • 25 people are silly persons

  • its freaking awesome i know this dude hes hILARIOUS!.... his families freaking funny too... word of advice though, dont go puking on scotts porch... unless you wanna make his son 5$ HAHA good times good times....

  • wow scott sounds soooo different from his podcasts

  • smileymanga.webs.com/

  • Cough Cough... Should have mentioned... KEEP A SOLID POSTING SCHEDULE. Everyone here understands how ones attention drops off like a rock, and if one cannot go and see a comic that actually updates they may outright forget about it.

Even if it's once a week, three times a week, daily whatever, just keep it constant, people like that over EXTREME ARTISTIC ABILITY, passable or better PLUS constant updates is far more effective.

  • Gotta love Scott!

  • Drunk Duck is also a good place to host a web comic. It's easy to use and has a rather large built in community of fellow creators who can help you out if you have any problems. I use it for my webcomic.

  • I want to start my own webcomic. Ive been doing the strips for a while and emailing them to friends but want to put it out there. Is there any software template I can download for free to work on the website design?

  • i have a irony awkwardness based comic : Spiked Cereals just type it in google... i would apreciate some constructive criticism...

  • dwdawdadawd

  • You lucky gerbil, I only have the Wacom Bamboo :( But I loves it and I'm new to digital sketching

  • I have my own webcomic called "Hippy Jonny in the bannality of life", its about Hippy Jonny and the adventures of his two stoner slacker friends, and what they get up to after Hippy Jonny gets fired. I have the first chapter available as a free pdf download in order to try and promote this comic.

If you enjoy it please send it to friends, the more attention the better

type into "rsdcomic" into google it will be the first result that comes up, sorry but youtube dosent allow urls to be posted.

  • Great:)

  • The downside of starting on LJ or Blogger or whatever is that if you get popular and you want your own URL, you have to MOVE your readership, which is next to impossible.

I'm about to start and have a little web experience, so I'm going straight to my own URL. It doesn't cost that much and if I do get some fan base I am not going to have to worry about moving them later.

  • Wooooo! I know Scott Johnson! He lives up the street from me :D

  • Still no clue why Stan Lee is so respected. It's pretty obvious Jack made all those characters. Look at the original art for margin notes from Jack. That and Stan Lee on his own makes quite a bit of forgettable characters.

  • 1:30, I have that same tablet.

  • Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew/had an experience with the website Smack Jeeves?

  • you silly person! stan lee owned her xD

  • scott has awsome voice

    -Frogpants Studios fan

  • Scott has a very good radio voice

  • THAT'S SCOTT JOHNSON?

  • Know what? Mr. Marvel didn't have to be such a smart-ass with Veronica. She was only doing her job.

  • Sakura-Con here in seattle is still awaiting Scott Johnson in person to show us his epic cartooning skills and podcasting skills. BTW "The Instance Podcast" is friggin epic.

  • appslappy is awesome

  • screw All that. I upload straigh to youtube

  • For software you can use free open source software such as Gimp and Inkscape. And starting a comic all you need is a good story and some skills in drawing. Don't fill you head full of bull sh*t about that I can't do this because I don't have $3,000's, sounds to is what you don't have are balls and your use the software as an excuse for not doing anything.

If you really wanted the software you could also download the 30 day free download from the site. Then use either a keygen, patch, serial.

  • Oh Scott Johnson's voice.

  • all you need is a great mind a good arm and 3,000 dollars in you r pocket

  • would you mind doing a sequal video kind of explaining the copyright issues that might come up?

  • Here's my webcomic tip: don't.

  • I LOVE YOU SCOTT

  • RIP BILLY MAYS

  • "Anybody with a lil' bit o' art talent and a lil' sumin t'say can get their stuff out there ..."

Yeah. And about $3,000 to burn on software and equipment, not to mention a couple thousand friends on the internet.

  • You could get the programs pirated

Not everyone uses expensive machines to put up their webcomics. Obsidian of Commisioned Comic does his comic with an ancient computer, so having spectacular tech is not needed. Can't help you with the friends issue though.

  • Sadly, this is the case with most situations, however I have seen several webcomics that are drawn on paper with pen that find great readership (and are hilarious, too).

    It's sort of a no-brainer that the least you need for your own webcomic is: a computer with internet, a scanner, art skills, a storyline (or theme), and a pen + paper. I agree, though, that it doesn't really encourage anyone when he has to go and show off his fancy Cintiq... ;__;

  • I know, the internet is a fickle place. Aside from the tech and skills needed to produce a comic, it's also hard to know what people on the web are going to like to begin with. Just getting attention is hard enough.

But I do believe there are really, REALLY good artists on the web who don't need the latest tech to capture an audience. But for the rest of us...well, I'll just pretend my little Bamboo is as good as his fancy Cintiq...

  • thx =]

  • Who's the old geezer?

  • stan lee you silly person!

  • I just started throwing some money aside for a Wacom Cintiq. They look really fun to work with plus I could finally get my money's worth out of Photoshop CS3. P.S. - All of Scott's podcasts are great and World of Warcrack shirt is awesome.

STAN LEE FTW..or should i say EXCELSIOR!

  • Pfft! They should have used that god Tim B^Uckly instead!

  • waste of time. wat a fruit.

  • Search BloodyGoodTimes and watch as my friend is killed

  • of course i read dumbass. I love books. Comics are so stupid though.

  • why is that? a comic is the same thing as a book except with pictures...which sounds dumb but is actually very hard to pull off effectivley.

  • does the dude really get money? btw nice tshirt indeed

  • comics are so boring...

  • I have the distinct suspicion that by "comics" you mean "superhero comics".

If so, saying "comics are boring" is like not caring for, say, romantic comedies, and saying "movies are boring."

There are even more kinds of comics in the world than there are movies. Go explore that very wide, diverse, and multilayered world before tossing off a blanket statement like "comics are boring."

  • world of war crack says his shirt

  • dont belive this shit.. this dude got a World of Warcraft shirt on

  • SHUT UP!!!! i have a hangover...

  • why did you watched this then? :)

  • stan lee is a little cocky.

  • stan lee is a little cocky.

  • never mind the size of his weiner, he was plain rude

  • He was kind of a dick.

  • damn, you can draw quickly. is that a turbo glove?

  • stan lee was a complete wanker in that interview

  • She asked a dumb question and I think stans response was funny.

  • it wasn't a dumb question at all. There are indeed plenty more significant differences between web comics and traditional comics than the 'obvious' matter of format. She clearly wasn't asking that. He was being unnecessarily officious.

  • megatokyo is a great web comic

  • so post the comics on Friday and get money on Monday! Got it!

  • Great!God bless you! Can you do me a favor and check out my little guy's video too? I could use some help getting the word out about him and another guy. Do you think you could help?

  • Scott Johnson rocks! go cheack out his podcast on Itunes. best show evar!

  • I am genuinely trying to expand the scope of what we regard as a web-comic.

Check out my "Chromachinima Comic" in my video response.

It's new, but I hope you dig it.

  • awesome

  • if u are interested in getting real views and suscribers make some videos.

  • Your red glove is just like mine, except that mine is black and it's called the SmudgeGuard glove. Pretty cool.

  • I love that Warcrack shirt Scott is wearing. I've GOT to get one!

  • If I got some money I would buy a centec (?) I am currently trying to write a complete sorry to turn into a webcomic later...and I did (bad) webcomics before.

Comicgenesis is a nice easy host for webcomics...so is Drunk Duck.

  • veronica belmont is hot!
