Cheers...! Bigger bore exhaust would free it up more, but very difficult to achieve larger that 2.5" under a MK2 chassis without going side exit as it bangs on the floor over the rear axel if you go bigger

lol! it's not as hard as you'd think, plus with the VR6 being considered as 'old tech', parts are inherrently cheap. I spent around a year grabbing as much information as I could about the VR6 turbo before I started mine. There's a helluva lot of info' out there to help!

Thanks - as soon as a VR goes forced induction, it's quick - trust me!! ....I've just had one of the MSD coilpack towers go down, so I'm awaiting a replacement from the US of A, then I can get busy again!!! Oh yes!

Hi, the MegaSquirt was very easy to install - I did acquire an OBD1 adapter loom from the States for around £45 which really made the install a breeze.

I'm not sure about the AEM system, other VRt's built at the same time as mine use the Emerald ecu. A very capable stand-alone indeed!

I acquirined parts, piece by piece. prices vary greatly depending on where u get them. All mine was new. A rough guess for the hardware alone...around £2k! I did spent a bit extra on a reliable turbocharger. I'm helping a mate build a low cost VRt at the moment so far!

Exhaust Manifold - £99

38mm Wastegate - £50

T4 turbo - £ 350

Half height intercooler - £50

Boost gauge, Boost controller - £20

Exhaust wrap - £20

....you can see how it easily builds up!

Hi 86Ytson, hope you're well.

A Supercharger is the easiest way to go forced induction on a VR - ie; all you have to do is fit it, and slightli modify the air intake! 10psi is around the normal boost I've seen and will give you around 250 - 290bhp depending on other specs. I've seen a charger install start at 9am and drive off at 1pm too. Another positive!

A turbo is a lot more work, but will yield a LOT more power when you're ready wind up the boost!!

The Cream Dream!! Mk1 20v turbo with a Secret Squirell spec: turbocharger runs a Mercedes Sprinter Intercoooler! It's engineered to comfortably take up to 1.2bar of boost and is extremely thin!! Perfect for the Mk1
