  • this was supposed to be a calm night. after hearing this, it won't be :o

  • Tripods attack!

  • Nice.

  • I hope death feels like the end of this song.

  • I can see planets slowly sliding by through a vast blackness. This is what the ancient Greeks must have meant with their "Harmony of the Spheres" theory. Pythagoras heard Biosphere.

  • I found this song one of the most interesting on this album. In me it evokes the feel of massive relentless destruction and fear. Not malice though, just raw power progressing from something indescribable in shape, alien and supreme. Something past one's understanding.

  • bliss

  • spine-chilling is a massive understatement for how this makes me feel.

whatever that horn sound came from it makes the Titanic feel small in comparison.

great imagery to go along with it.

  • Superb!

  • krijg weer spontaan zin in een paddo trip :P vorige keer ook naar biosphere geluisterd tijdens trip, echt te chil gewoon

  • nice quality thnx

  • i need to pee now.

  • Haunting! Absolutly fantastic!

  • J'aime ce voyage dans l'extrême bleu d'une longue nuit, et puis l'entrée soudaine dans la lumière blanche... J'aime.

  • very powerful tune

  • onder de hoogspanningskabels vindt de ruis van mystiek plaats amazing song

  • Unbearable tension.

  • cool

  • The beginning of this makes me very uncomfortable.

No other music I've heard has made me feel like this.

  • I love the music of Geir Jenssen / Biosphere.

  • I love the calm ending. It's got to be my favourite part of this whole piece.

  • sounds like mutant cows in the mist

  • @negev3000 what a description

  • Timesless, the sounds on 4.04 are the greatests like from heaven ... !!!

  • sounds like the new ice age

  • sounds from an ice age

  • pefect

omg it's abso fucking lutely perfect

    speechless..

  • @nikitawah apt description, as minimalistic as the music

  • @emptyhighways hahahaha

    what's ''apt'' ?

  • @nikitawah apt

    — adj

    1. suitable for the circumstance or purpose; appropriate

    2. ( postpositive; foll by an infinitive ) having a tendency (to behave as specified)

    3. having the ability to learn and understand easily; clever (esp in the phrase an apt pupil )

  • @emptyhighways ow. i fully agrree

  • @emptyhighways

    How is this track minimalistic?

I am going to go ahead and guess that your not well acquainted with ambient music.

  • @RKarma19 Minimalist compared to most other music out there. But there are of course much more minimalist works in existence, for example Biosphere's own Autour de la Lune. Best description of biosphere i've ever heard is "arctic ambient". But we're splitting hairs here, there's always a lot of arguments about genre specification and i think they are quite often redundant.

  • @emptyhighways

Ambient is not a musical genre that has much structure or definition. Rather, it's meant to invoke a feelings and altered consciousness. A composer like Steve could actually use two or three redundant sounds combined in random synchronism to elicit a profound inward response. And if the track is successful to this end, then it's ambient.

  • @RKarma19 Mhm, in other words, stoner music. Kiddin kiddin. What Steve are you talking about by the way? Steve Reich or someone else?

  • Like a ship struggling for a survival in the arctic ice

  • Like slipping into a hot bath!

  • Perfect example of good electronic music that lives on since the early days of Brian Eno.

  • and it would go well with the book the Navigator

  • and it would go well with the book the Navigator

  • i think this would go well with war of the worlds

or one of those post apoc movies

  • this sounds like the soundtrack for a really freaky version of Myst. Would that not be the best adventure game ever?

  • @jedwards1211 so true!

  • Simply amazing track!

  • Reminds me tooo much of 2001: A Space Odyssey, where Dave is traveling through space and in the hotel room.

  • This is great but its not relaxing Brian Eno - An ending is relaxing

  • @PS3CRAZY96

    Climbing a mountain isn't 'relaxing' ;-)

  • There aren't words which i can write what i feel when i'm listening this...

  • If i die to this track i'll be a happy man

  • These sounds are Buddhist Seremonial Instruments from the Himalaya, great song!

  • i am so in love with this, can anyone recommend me other amazing tracks by Biosphere?

  • @absolutelywankered yes you can listen tracks like "down at vara" or "laika" or "mir" and you can to listen the cd " nordheim transformer" of biosphere and deathprood projects... greetings!

  • I love the way the chiming bells start the song, break it up in the middle and then beautifully finish off this musical masterpiece

  • Something (or no-thing) makes me think you've read Antero Alli, "Angel-Tech" and/or "All Rites Reversed"

  • I really love it from 3:48 onwards... I turn the sound up and trip.

  • To me it doesn't sound like someone peeing into a urinal, but more like boggling water. Like when you're warming water in a kettle.

I don't think it would coem from a kettle though, but more like very hot, boggling water inside a geyser. The album takes place on a mountain after all.

  • @danni13371

    boiling water* not boggling water.

  • I get the feeling of something between Doom and Deadspace

  • amazing....

  • When i close my eyes it makes me think im in some kind of half-life 2 movie or just some kind of sci-fi movie in general.

  • I think this track is exceptional

    a masterpiece on every level

  • @adj789 Agreed. The sound of the track overall has a lot of depth to it, and takes you places very far.

  • Question, what quality is the song? It seems like its even higher than 320kbps!

  • makes me wish i could fly over the ocean during the sunrise - free.

  • The greatest track from the greatest ambient/chillout album of all time.

  • @jimmydahoover I too love Biosphere. What else do you like besides Biosphere? I'm looking for something great to get lost in.

  • @ikillmofos Some other great artists are: Banco de Gaia, Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard, Amorphous Androgynous, Boards of Canada, Afro Celt Sound System, Clint Mansell, Cliff Martinez, Cygnus X, Ennio Morricone, A R Rahman, Sonic Adventure Project, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, etc etc.

They should give you many hours of sublime listening :)

  • I love the desolate places. Great photos

  • Religious devoutness followed by a lucid dream :)

    Thanks for uploading!

  • the begining of the song reminds me of the opening to the exorsist. No the whole fucking film.

  • Beautiful

  • yees, the noises at 1:48 give me the goose flesh

  • Music reminds me of the Horn of Rohan fromn the movie Lord of the Rings

  • Its the sound of a Hjallar horn, a Huge kind of trompet that thay play up in the great Fjords of western Norway

  • Are you sure? I thought it is a boat from a distance, a really big boat, like those traject lines.

  • is it? i thought it sounded like those big horns the munks in tibet/himalaya play?

  • the song starts with the sound of someone pissing in a urinal

    very atmospheric

  • Well if that is how your Imagination is guiding you...

  • LOL, I always imagined it is melting ice

  • this song would be good for a trailer of a movie about aliens

  • thats cause these noises sound like the aliens from war of the worlds lol

  • @ItsbigC this isn't noises, you would rather hear it coming from tibetian horns, that are kinda sacred stuff

  • speechless

  • freaking awsome..the compilation of sound samples just kicks ass..

  • 4.05 sounds from heaven

  • gate to heaven...

  • this makes me think of the time i ingested datura seeds...

  • the end of this song is so good and soothing. the whole album of substrata is a landmark in ambient music. my favorite track is the last one, Silene.

  • genial

  • threeks

  • someone should put this song to video footage of the ocean from above... that's what it makes me think of

  • Great Track from Mr. Jenssen. I really like it. These massive Walls of Sounds droning into space are just breathtaking.

  • very nice thanx alot biosphere!!! oh and guys there are no monsters and the space like feeling you talk about can be simply described as deep awareness of the illusion of reality...the holographic state of the universe and us humans reaching such state of self consciousness and awareness

  • This music almost seems to evoke the feeling, or 'vibe', of some massive entity being summoned during a cosmic conflict. It isn't necessarily a sentient entity -- just some kind of cosmic 'thing' with the property of immensity.

But I guess it just sounds like pretty mountains and 'beauty' to everyone else...

  • I felt the exact same way man. This song really freaked me out. It was like there was this monster out there somewhere that was running around in this alien world and coming to get me. Made me think of the Langoliers by Stephen King. Freaky ass grinding noise.

  • Aha :P I was freaked out by Langoliers, awesome movie though

  • I love minimal music and Biosphere too.

  • This track gives such a strong feeling of an image of a space so massive and wide... like standing on a gargantuan plain between mountain ranges, in the cold wind. Great stuff.

  • OMG thats

    huuuge!!

  • Fantastic no-nonsense music. Great pictures.

  • 4:00 sounds perfect!!!thn for post!!!

  • after hearing the whole album, right at the very 4th minute as you puncuated, some kind of incredible relieve creeps in, an elevated vanishing soul into the oblivion. Timeless album.

  • relax but dangerous and mystic
