@Bullet2551 I have to agree. Not all trainers of Sadlbreds to Tennesse Walkers are Bad trainers and do not use these methods on their horses. This is just the really really bad part of it. It's the darkside that people don't get to see, do to it being well illegal at top shows, but people will do anything for their horse to win and to make them money so they take really good care of them to hide the well injuries they give them. Again this is just the bad side of it and these are bad trainers.

I would never make a horse walk like that, it isn't beautiful or kind to make your horse do that. But some breeds do that without making them do it. I don't think it is right at all to make a horse go through pain of any sort! I think the walk they were doing looked awful anyway! Nothing beats natural beauty from a horse!!
I ride gaited in a fox trotter and I do believe that the video is a by misinformed. Every one of these methods are cruel, but they are also illegal now. Of course there are things you left out. Saddleseat is becoming a more and more common form of riding now that you don't have to do this stuff to win. Sure people used to use shoes that had nails poking into the horses frog, but some of this makes it seem like every person that rides Saddleseat is cruel.
don't they kow a horses legs are extremly fragile and can be broken easily? a horses leg is so fragile one small thing can snap that leg like a twig. lovely video and music inspiring to me why i never liked saddelseat. the other equestrian sports that are english and driving aren't abuse western yes
It's still abusive? Horses shouldent hold that so much weight on a thin boned foot :/ Why defend a hose who is dieing in the inside! I'v seen them do there rack and there sorness in there eye! they never hold there ears forward and never show a sine of happyness :(
Excuse me but how can you not see that this is hurting the horses, if you are not happy enough with the way a horse walks naturally why buy one in the first place.
oh yeah.. and you might want to get consent from the owners to use their horses in an anti soring video..... You could find yourself in a lawsuit someday....
Check out the legs of a 25 yo 3 day eventing horse compaired to a 25 year old padded walking horse thats has a great show career.. You might be surprised. :) just sayin..
I dont understand why ppl dont do research before they bash other breeds. Your video was about pads and chains. You are not allowed to show in anything heavier than a six ounce chain(which is lighter than a wristwatch) and the pads are made of plastic. Plastic is the best thing for absorbing shock to the legs.. These horses feel none of the impact from the ground. They have anywhere from 5 to 7 pads on and an agent under them to keep the feet clean, dry and healthy.
u seen the way they run with them i no it probably hurts them and i hate animal cruelty but you cant help but laugh a bit and why does putting them on stilts harmful anyways??
Can't spell this evening......A TWH or any gaited horse has a natural pretty movement and that is how it should stay Natural. Walking horses do bob their heads naturally
it makes me cry i hate ppl so much go on and try parelly or natural horemanship .
why do u have to hurt your horse to do some of this fancy tricks ! horses arent made for this shit -.-
it hurts .. look if u are nice to horse horse will give u everything back ! ... i like it cause u upload this video u sure know that horses can feel. but ill tell u something , ppl are stiupid theyll do anything to win the contest its too bad that the videos and words dont change anything :(
There are no words to describe the pain of these horses... Nobody who loves horses would do something like this... But remember, why do you ride horses? Because you love them... It absolutely don`t makes no sence to me... Its insane, to ride horses just for hurting them and win some shows... Human and Horse should be a Team and they should love each other!!
i truely am not a heartless person, i am a very passionate horse person. but lets be honest, people act like the things in this video are the absolute worst thing ever. yes, they are bad, but there are worse things that happen to horses. pads, chains, and soring dont even come close to some stuff people think of doing to horses...
@mushmush7 Walking Horses bob their heads up and down to keep rhythm with their flat or running walk. Just like we swing our arms when we walk or run.
It doesnt look pretty at all in my opinion. i've ridden TW's without those things and very sound and thier walks are pretty enough w/o all those things. Raised tail, raised and bobing head, thats not proudness of the horse! thats the horse saying "OW OW OW!" EVERYTIME it puts a foot down.
This reminds me of the old fashioned binding of little girls feet from the far east. Some customs are just plain cruel & these horses have no choice. They bob their heads up & down like most horses do when they are lame! Chains....I would never put blocks & chains on my horse!
Alright HOW BOUT YOU BOTH GO TO COLLEGE OR GET EDUCATED BEFORE SAYING CRAP LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GUYS ACT LIKE YOUR 5!! THIS IS VERY WRONG BUT (AviSweetHorse) MADE THIS VIDEO TO GET THE OPINT ACROSS NOT TO HAVE FIGHTING PRETTY SURE SHE DOESNT WANT TO LOOK AT ALL OF THESE RUDE AND CRUEL COMMENTS
idiots i have worked in the walking horse industry for 12 yrs now and never once have i seen a horse sore from the pads or chains, you need to look at some other breeds of horses as well
The riders look like retards, hunched back, sitting on the horses butt. I don't get it. Why would anyone want to ride like that, it's not even pretty!
@ chance666ify - it is not the breed.. It is what people make these horses do. TWH are natually gaited and ment to be a smooth ride. But when they put the pads and do things to their feet to FORCE them to walk that way it is bad. TB's are fast. and are good at racing but PEOPLE are running them into the ground as 2 year olds and wonder why they have arthristis problems????
@Misako20 I agree with you in that it's what people make the horses do that is deplorable but the TWH is not a naturally gaited movement. What's considered natural is what a horse would do in the wild and I've never seen a horse wallk like that in the wild. It is a forced movement regardless of how it is achieved. My arguement is that no matter the breed there is some cruelty in achieving the end result, so, discontinue breeding is a choice to bare in mind.
I think it looks very ugly , i cant believe people want to do that to there horse, to be honest, it looks like shit , and i love a normal horse walk ? how could you not , i hate bitches like these , fuck who ever does it to there horse .
@chance666ify: This is a small portion of use that the Tennessee Walker has (you want to see a natural leg lifting gate look at the Saddlebred horse)...The Tennsee Walker is prized as a gaited horse because people with back conditions can comfortable ride them. They have incredible endurance and are used for endurance trail rides and lots of other personal uses. They are awesome temperment horses. There is not reason for them to die outt, what should die out is horse abuse, like soring.
@mooneypadfootprongs I really don't have much sympathy for people with back conditions that force a horse to do an un-natural walk just so they can continue riding in comfort. That is horse abuse in itself but it's other attributes are noteworthy. But again it falls to individual interpretation of what's concidered abuse. Endurance trail riding might look like abuse to some, the western show circuit, racing, they all would have a certain amount of what some might consider cruelty involved.
@chance666ify OKAY now hold up here Mr.Big-I-Know-It-All. 1. I never once said that people are riding these horses in the unantural gait (a sored TWH) that have back problems. That would be painful anyway for someone with back conditions, but that is besides the point. 2. The TWH is a GAITED horse like MANY other horse breeds! KMH, Fox trotters, standardbred: ALL GAITED. It is natural, they are born like that. A gaited horse gait is not the same as a sored horse gait. Instead of (continue)
@chance666ify so normal horses have a walk/trot/canter/gallop as their gaits. There are 3-gaited, 5-gaited, etc horses. Gaited horses (like the TWH) can have a walk/trot/gait/canter or a walk/gait/canter, etc. They are all natural gaits, born with, NON MAN MADE. Soring is what causes this awful form of animal abuse that is not natural. 3. Being misinformed does NOT mean that you can go rampage about what YOU think is the truth which is far from it. There is more than just horses with w/t/c gaits
My question is this, if you say that it is cruel to make horses perform a certain way and want it stopped, what is the use of that breed then. If the Tennesse walking horse's only claim to fame is its gait and you stop that, what's the use of keeping the breed alive. Same with the race horse, you want racing stopped then why continue to breed the horse. You see cruelty at every turn with every breed, may as well stop horse breeding all together. would it be better to let the horse die out???
@chance666ify Like Mooney said, the TWH is a naturally gaited horse, which is comfortable to ride. Naturally gaited twh- meaning no pads, chains, chemicals, spurs under the saddle, etc, are shown, ridden on trail rides, and enjoyed. The big lick horse is ridiculous. Why the breed became what it is today is deplorable. The use of the abovementioned items is to create what the people want, and in essence change what the horse naturally does. It is abuse and cruelty. Pure and simple.
@empfha Natural????? natural movement denotes a movement that is seen in the wild, TWH gait is an enforced, over emphasised movement. I love horses and have one of my own but there is always enforcement in training them. And to some it is simply cruelty to train your horse to do something that it wouldn't naturally do. Like I said, people see cruelty everywhere when animals are involved. I see it as training, coaxing and manipulation with sugar cubes but not everyone is going to agree.
it really isnt that cruel...the cruelest thing done is the chemical soring, but what people do behind closed doors is none of my business. the shoes arent bad, the chains arent bad, the people arent bad, the list goes on. people make the walking world sound 10 times worse than it is.
@shorts3429 you make it sound like it is okay pour chemicals all over the horses legs and put them in excutiating pain for a stupid blue ribbon... would you like it if someone put you in 6 inch high heels and poured acid all over your feet because they think it makes your walk "prettier"?
@eglegiggles i never said it was okay, i said what people do behind closed doors is none of my business. i think soring is unacceptable, but if a horse passes the required usda inspection then they arent that sore.
a stick in a horse's hoof isnt soring! a horse can get a stick stuck in their foot out in the field. just because you type it in on google doesnt mean that it is correct information...
and to add to my argument, this video has nothing to do with soring! soring is the use of chemicals on the legs. this video just complains about chains and stacks. they are just action devices and shoes! they have nothing to do with soring!
@AviSweetHorse He's actually right, the pictures with nails in the hoofs doesn't have anything to do with the actual "Soring", it's just when you google Soring you get related pictures of other very common abusibe methods in the Tennessee Walking Horses business.
@shorts3429 some people dont know as much about it.. u dont have to be so judgemental.. ether way useing action devices is wrong to... so you can just hush
@shorts3429 So sorry my friend but it seems you are a heartless person to not see it through there eyes. I'v ridden TWH's with weigths and without and there is a BIG impact on both! The one with weights. Well lets just say it was painful to them! I could feel it below me and the feeling on the reins! I felt there pain and after the ride i saw in there eyes something different. Not a good one but pain and sorrow almost sayin why and saying help me. It's time someone stands up for a helpless horse
@thesaddlebredchick ahahaha you say they are sad and your a Saddlebred person??? How can you bash a Walking Horse when a Saddlebred is know for the high action trot???? Its the same thing but a different pad!
Thanks for creating this little video.... Your english got the message across. I am 100% against anything that adds to "action" at the cost to the horse. The draft horses have weighted shoes, get drugs and more.... the WP horses suffer in order that humans can 'enjoy' the Look.... SO much abuse to the equine. Why can't humans just let well enough alone and enjoy the breeds as they are created ?
it is beautiful! their chains arent tight at all! they move back and forth as they walk.
why does anyone improve a horses natural gate? for looks, of course. you act like it is so wrong for walkers natural gate to be changed. but when aqha or appy trainers change a horse's natural gate by slowing them down to a crawl its acceptable? ive shown stock horses and walkers and either way you look at it, its training! padding a horse or slowing them down to a crawl is changing their natural gate...
the chains the horses wear are so much smaller and lighter. it is like us wearing a watch, they are light and used for timing. these horses naturally have a cool gate and stacks and chains just make it better!
@shorts3429 do you really consider that gate beautiful?! That's so unatural and it lacks of elegance!
Plus, no matter how well you say those horses are treated, that gate will surely cause major problems to their back and hind legs.
And no matter how light the chains are, but if they're bounded thight, they cut horses' legs. Try to do the same, then come back and tell me what you feel.
Do people really need to modify a natural gate? What for?
you all need to do your homework! omgamandasgay has it right for the most part. no matter what people say, these horses are treated like royalty. their shoes arent nearly as bad as people claim. all the xrays of stacks you see just show all the nails it takes to hold them together. only about 6 of the nails you see physically hold the stack on.
i can see that the horses in this video are in pain u can see it in there eyes and the way that some of the horse hold there ears even an untrained eye can see that . If u do see it at a show or you see and dnt do smthing about it you are what i wouls call a cowerd. No affence to any one its just my opinion
The fact of the matter is that *some* horses will indeed walk like this naturally when they feel peppy. The problem comes in when an owner has a horse that doesn't walk like this and they torture it until it does. Disgusting.
@AQHAsForever Then why put them on at all? I was raised around Quarter Horses and Dutch Warmbloods, so I honestly don't understand why this is necessary. It doesn't look like a very comfortable 'way of going' for horse or rider.
Chains are added during training to add weight so in shows when they are TAKEN OFF they will step higher. When you add chains you also add a lubricant to prevent the rubbing but once again, its not like they spend their whole lives in them. Do your homework before you start bashing something you have no idea about. Thanks :]
@AviSweetHorse Omgamandasgay is right in some ways, but in this video that kinda soring is awful, but what omgamandasgay is saying is also right. There are other ways that are not harmful to the horse to help them with there gait, but when you stack like what they do in the video that is not right at all, its not natural.
@AviSweetHorse not this video, I would be stupid to want to go ride after watching this video. I was talking about your other videos with your horse and you lol
@omgamandasgay I agree with you, I know someone that has very thin chains around the front of his legs but they are only on when he is in his stall, but when he is working they take them off. But on the video they are showing is not right at all. It is not a natural gait for the horse it is forced, but not all soring is bad but the one on the video is.
Ok so yeah Soring is a huge problem in the TWH world at the moment. There are people out there who do this to horses to make them step higher BUT not everyone does this. Most padded TW horses are treated like royalty. Pads are only on their feet for the show season so its not like they live their entire lives in them. They are kept in stalls so they dont hurt themselves and are fed almost all the hay and feed they could desire. Chains are NOT placed on the horses feet to create pain.
this is nothing that any horse should go through, ANY HORSE, if someone did that to a other person then i would be wrong, unyet people do this to horses shame on them, ASS HOLES!
I really don't think it looks beautiful one bit. You can see how unnatural it is with the horses hind end crouched undernearth him. I would guess it would cause all sort of muscular damage too. Poor horses.
That looks terrible! The passage of the horses is so unnatural, and the horses suffer this very much. I think it's very ugly, and something like that should be forbidden!

Sure people used to use shoes that had nails poking into the horses frog, but some of this makes it seem like every person that rides Saddleseat is cruel.

Misako20 2 months ago
@Misako20 I agree with you in that it's what people make the horses do that is deplorable but the TWH is not a naturally gaited movement. What's considered natural is what a horse would do in the wild and I've never seen a horse wallk like that in the wild. It is a forced movement regardless of how it is achieved. My arguement is that no matter the breed there is some cruelty in achieving the end result, so, discontinue breeding is a choice to bare in mind.

There is not reason for them to die outt, what should die out is horse abuse, like soring.
mooneypadfootprongs 2 months ago
@mooneypadfootprongs I really don't have much sympathy for people with back conditions that force a horse to do an un-natural walk just so they can continue riding in comfort. That is horse abuse in itself but it's other attributes are noteworthy. But again it falls to individual interpretation of what's concidered abuse. Endurance trail riding might look like abuse to some, the western show circuit, racing, they all would have a certain amount of what some might consider cruelty involved.
chance666ify 2 months ago
@chance666ify OKAY now hold up here Mr.Big-I-Know-It-All. 1. I never once said that people are riding these horses in the unantural gait (a sored TWH) that have back problems. That would be painful anyway for someone with back conditions, but that is besides the point. 2. The TWH is a GAITED horse like MANY other horse breeds! KMH, Fox trotters, standardbred: ALL GAITED. It is natural, they are born like that. A gaited horse gait is not the same as a sored horse gait. Instead of (continue)
mooneypadfootprongs 1 month ago
@chance666ify so normal horses have a walk/trot/canter/gallop as their gaits. There are 3-gaited, 5-gaited, etc horses. Gaited horses (like the TWH) can have a walk/trot/gait/canter or a walk/gait/canter, etc. They are all natural gaits, born with, NON MAN MADE. Soring is what causes this awful form of animal abuse that is not natural. 3. Being misinformed does NOT mean that you can go rampage about what YOU think is the truth which is far from it. There is more than just horses with w/t/c gaits
mooneypadfootprongs 1 month ago
@mooneypadfootprongs Yawnnnnn, bored so bored.
chance666ify 1 month ago
this is considerably horse abuse at its worst.
mooneypadfootprongs 2 months ago
My question is this, if you say that it is cruel to make horses perform a certain way and want it stopped, what is the use of that breed then. If the Tennesse walking horse's only claim to fame is its gait and you stop that, what's the use of keeping the breed alive. Same with the race horse, you want racing stopped then why continue to breed the horse. You see cruelty at every turn with every breed, may as well stop horse breeding all together. would it be better to let the horse die out???
chance666ify 2 months ago
@chance666ify Like Mooney said, the TWH is a naturally gaited horse, which is comfortable to ride. Naturally gaited twh- meaning no pads, chains, chemicals, spurs under the saddle, etc, are shown, ridden on trail rides, and enjoyed. The big lick horse is ridiculous. Why the breed became what it is today is deplorable. The use of the abovementioned items is to create what the people want, and in essence change what the horse naturally does. It is abuse and cruelty. Pure and simple.
empfha 2 months ago
@empfha Natural????? natural movement denotes a movement that is seen in the wild, TWH gait is an enforced, over emphasised movement. I love horses and have one of my own but there is always enforcement in training them. And to some it is simply cruelty to train your horse to do something that it wouldn't naturally do. Like I said, people see cruelty everywhere when animals are involved. I see it as training, coaxing and manipulation with sugar cubes but not everyone is going to agree.
chance666ify 2 months ago

it really isnt that cruel...the cruelest thing done is the chemical soring, but what people do behind closed doors is none of my business. the shoes arent bad, the chains arent bad, the people arent bad, the list goes on. people make the walking world sound 10 times worse than it is.
shorts3429 2 months ago
@shorts3429 you make it sound like it is okay pour chemicals all over the horses legs and put them in excutiating pain for a stupid blue ribbon... would you like it if someone put you in 6 inch high heels and poured acid all over your feet because they think it makes your walk "prettier"?
eglegiggles 2 months ago
@eglegiggles i never said it was okay, i said what people do behind closed doors is none of my business. i think soring is unacceptable, but if a horse passes the required usda inspection then they arent that sore.

a stick in a horse's hoof isnt soring! a horse can get a stick stuck in their foot out in the field. just because you type it in on google doesnt mean that it is correct information...
shorts3429 2 months ago
and to add to my argument, this video has nothing to do with soring! soring is the use of chemicals on the legs. this video just complains about chains and stacks. they are just action devices and shoes! they have nothing to do with soring!
shorts3429 2 months ago
@shorts3429 so, go on google and type: horse soring
yeah, there are pics of sticks in the horses hoofs. are you blind or so?:PP
AviSweetHorse 2 months ago
@AviSweetHorse He's actually right, the pictures with nails in the hoofs doesn't have anything to do with the actual "Soring", it's just when you google Soring you get related pictures of other very common abusibe methods in the Tennessee Walking Horses business.

It's time someone stands up for a helpless horse
thesaddlebredchick 1 month ago
@thesaddlebredchick ahahaha you say they are sad and your a Saddlebred person??? How can you bash a Walking Horse when a Saddlebred is know for the high action trot???? Its the same thing but a different pad!
cowboycrzy2008 1 month ago
Thanks for creating this little video.... Your english got the message across. I am 100% against anything that adds to "action" at the cost to the horse. The draft horses have weighted shoes, get drugs and more.... the WP horses suffer in order that humans can 'enjoy' the Look.... SO much abuse to the equine. Why can't humans just let well enough alone and enjoy the breeds as they are created ?
woodfinn 1 month ago
it is beautiful! their chains arent tight at all! they move back and forth as they walk.
why does anyone improve a horses natural gate? for looks, of course. you act like it is so wrong for walkers natural gate to be changed. but when aqha or appy trainers change a horse's natural gate by slowing them down to a crawl its acceptable? ive shown stock horses and walkers and either way you look at it, its training! padding a horse or slowing them down to a crawl is changing their natural gate...
shorts3429 2 months ago
the chains the horses wear are so much smaller and lighter. it is like us wearing a watch, they are light and used for timing. these horses naturally have a cool gate and stacks and chains just make it better!
shorts3429 2 months ago
@shorts3429 do you really consider that gate beautiful?! That's so unatural and it lacks of elegance!
Plus, no matter how well you say those horses are treated, that gate will surely cause major problems to their back and hind legs.
And no matter how light the chains are, but if they're bounded thight, they cut horses' legs. Try to do the same, then come back and tell me what you feel.
Do people really need to modify a natural gate? What for?
wolfisaac 2 months ago
you all need to do your homework! omgamandasgay has it right for the most part. no matter what people say, these horses are treated like royalty. their shoes arent nearly as bad as people claim. all the xrays of stacks you see just show all the nails it takes to hold them together. only about 6 of the nails you see physically hold the stack on.
shorts3429 2 months ago
i can see that the horses in this video are in pain u can see it in there eyes and the way that some of the horse hold there ears even an untrained eye can see that . If u do see it at a show or you see and dnt do smthing about it you are what i wouls call a cowerd. No affence to any one its just my opinion
Sugerpop105 3 months ago
The fact of the matter is that *some* horses will indeed walk like this naturally when they feel peppy. The problem comes in when an owner has a horse that doesn't walk like this and they torture it until it does. Disgusting.
TheChopsinator 3 months ago
they arent in pain and the chains are only allowed to be up to 2 oz thats nothing at all
AQHAsForever 3 months ago
@AQHAsForever Then why put them on at all? I was raised around Quarter Horses and Dutch Warmbloods, so I honestly don't understand why this is necessary. It doesn't look like a very comfortable 'way of going' for horse or rider.

Chains are added during training to add weight so in shows when they are TAKEN OFF they will step higher. When you add chains you also add a lubricant to prevent the rubbing but once again, its not like they spend their whole lives in them. Do your homework before you start bashing something you have no idea about. Thanks :]
omgamandasgay 4 months ago
@omgamandasgay oh so shut up girl.
you really have no ideao about that. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU START BRASHING ABOUT THIS!
so if you are a horse cruller, do that. if it's okay for you, do it.

AviSweetHorse 4 months ago
@AviSweetHorse Omgamandasgay is right in some ways, but in this video that kinda soring is awful, but what omgamandasgay is saying is also right. There are other ways that are not harmful to the horse to help them with there gait, but when you stack like what they do in the video that is not right at all, its not natural.

@AviSweetHorse I was talking about your other videos, I was watching the videos of you and your horse and it was making me want to ride my horse.
dallastrail 3 months ago
@omgamandasgay I agree with you, I know someone that has very thin chains around the front of his legs but they are only on when he is in his stall, but when he is working they take them off. But on the video they are showing is not right at all. It is not a natural gait for the horse it is forced, but not all soring is bad but the one on the video is.
dallastrail 3 months ago
Ok so yeah Soring is a huge problem in the TWH world at the moment. There are people out there who do this to horses to make them step higher BUT not everyone does this. Most padded TW horses are treated like royalty. Pads are only on their feet for the show season so its not like they live their entire lives in them. They are kept in stalls so they dont hurt themselves and are fed almost all the hay and feed they could desire. Chains are NOT placed on the horses feet to create pain.
