Thanks for viewing. I'm sure you're right however to my ear this was the best I could do with my setup at the time. Tone is very subjective although I know what you mean about not emulating that tele sound on this one. Thanks for the feedback - Ron
Very nice Ron. I'm afraid you have at least a couple of the chords wrong ... I've been listening to (& loving) this song for 30 years!! But not a bad version, and VERY nice job synching up the guitar and the bass. I'm suitably impressed. :-)
Yes, you're right. The guitar in this one was very difficult to emulate. I suspect it's probably a combination of the tone from my setup and the selected chords. Thanks for viewing and the feedback. - Ron
Thanks a lot Danielle! I hadn't heard this song in a long time but when it was incorporated into a local TV ad recently I couldn't get enough of it. The only remedy for that is to do a cover :-) Ron
Nice job. You can actually play the begining riff on a three finger A on the fifth fret and just drop the index finger for the latter part of the riff, then just go right to the next chord in the riff progression as you are already there! :)
Great job with this...bass and guitar. Great song and perfect tone for it. Would love to see you have a crack at Mystery Achievement. Lots of good guitar stuff in that one. Keep the great videos coming.
Thanks Ian! I'm a big fan of the Pretenders and especially Chrissie Hynde. I really like the bass and guitar covers but they're so much more work to do than individual instrument covers (way more than double the work due to PiP video production and processing). Thanks again for your support - Ron
Thanks for the comment. I know that I "over-played" it a bit. I took the Paul Mc Cartney approach to this song. He is my favorite bassist. You are a very good musician. I look forward to more of your videos.
It really is a good cover. I came across as being a little harsh. I do a cover of it as well. I know that I am not playing it exactly right. I just added a few more passing notes in there. You are probably playing it more like Pete Farndon than I am. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for viewing and commenting. It is a great tune and timeless as well. I hadn't heard it in a while but it seems to get better and better with time. Thanks again for the feedback - Ron
Thanks very much! I was pretty happy with this cover given how little effort went into it. I'd all but forgotten about this song until I heard it on TV recently - it really is a great tune. Thanks again for viewing and commenting - Ron
Thanks Mike - it's very good to hear from you. You've been quiet for some time now. I check you site for new uploads on occasion but I gather you’ve been busy with other things. Thanks again for viewing - Ron
Thanks dude. There's just something about Chrissie's voice that makes the whole process very enjoyable. I didn't realize how much I like the bass in this song. Have you thought about our next project? :)
Thanks a lot Gris. I was reminded of what a great song this is when it started appearing on television every day as part of an ad for the release of the Blackberry Playbook. Hope all is well - Ron
what's with all the horrible distortion at 00:20 ??? it should be all clean tones with that jingly jangly telcastery feelery aka james honeyman-scott

@iamRottenRon hey no probs, honeyman-scott was very renowned for his chiming guitar arpeggios, something that Johnny Marr I am sure aspired to

The bass playing is more in tune than the guitar. But still a very good job....!!!

The bass itself has a great sound. Very boring bass line though. Keep working at it.
