@Fabio254 Yeah but its a combo of both the German Metropolis, and Osamu's Metropolis. While both of these are good stories, I do think that this movie does manage to take elements from both stories and turn it into something awesome. So big deal is isn't Tezuka's vision. From what I can tell, I doubt the man would go Alan Moore over it.
Its not racist, its just a typical fad in Japan, this film being an adaptation of Tezukas manga means that it has barely anything to do with Fritz film, I've read a page in a book from Tezuka himseelf stating that he took the name and a robot design, nothing else.
The original is always the best, of course. I love Fritz Lang. But this movie is also very well done. Don't degrade it just because it's anime. The original manga was by Osamu Tezuka-sama, who has influenced much of the modern animated movies in the world, I think you should respect that.
Um...can anybody tell me where I can find the movie on the Internet? I've been trying to find it but all I get are trailers and a bunch of random stuff...
I remember when the old man said it took him all his life to finish that ultimate weapon (the little girl) then that jerkoff kid goes and shoots him and tries to destroy everything I wanted to kill him as if I did all that work lol.
I've only seen this version. Then dad told me about the old one of which I've only seen snippets but I thinks it's a great reworking of an older story
not this movie no. But most of the characters and such are his. He was dead when this movie was made. That's the only reason it was able to BE made because he wouldn't have allowed it otherwise.
Not the plot, just the characters. He looked, examined, and devoluped many ways to draw eyes, noses, and hair for characters rather than sticking with one style.
I got this on DVD. I'd like to post it; but the DVD player is not working right. Anyway, I'm not that much into this movie. It is a pretty nice show; but I'm thinking about selling the DVD I got.
heh it's not a quote, I mean the song almost at the ending when all falls, that's how it's called "I can't stop loving you" by Ray Charles. It's such a wave of emotions ;___;
i... dont know the quotes cause of which I havent seen it in years. THough I do remember one sad thing at the last part of the movie where the girl spoke out in a radio or somthin
its sad, but not only sad, i dont know how to say it ... i just finished seeing it again, the best word would be bittersweet ( i guess, if it can be described in one word)
i like the movie

the graphic is more like Astroboy American Version ^_^
shitlessass 2 years ago
@shitlessass 1) Astroboy was only dubbed by English voices and changed for American viewers, there was never an American Version.
2)The movie is based off a manga from the same guy who created Astroboy, thus the similarity

This movie makes Fritz Lang do whirlybirds in his grave.
Why is it, in Anime, do all white people have saucer-sized eyes? Racist, I say! RACIST!

Shut up! That's why!

"This movie makes Fritz Lang do whirlybirds in his grave."
I'm sure the same is happening to Osamu Tezuka.
Fabio254 3 years ago
Why do you say that? Even though animes quite limited in its individual aspects I don't think that he'd be rolling in his grave.
Ryoku75 2 years ago
"Why do you say that? "
Because Tezuka was against a movie being made of this, and it doesn't follow his story.

I doubt it. Then why do you bother watching this trailer and writing a (shitty) comment? So much time on your hands?

" this film being an adaptation of Tezukas manga means that it has barely anything to do with Fritz film"
Except that it follows Fritz's story more than Tezuka's manga.
Fabio254 2 years ago
Oh, then why does it use Tezukas characters?
Ryoku75 2 years ago
Sorry if I sounded snobby, I agree with what you've said, though why did Tezuka oppose an adaptation and where'd you read that?
Ryoku75 2 years ago
I don't know why Tezuka didn't want a movie made, but I heard the people working on it say that he didn't in the bonus features of the DVD.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
...If you notice, all Japanese people in anime also have "saucer-sized eyes". -_-'
