  • Terrible service. I've been waiting nearly two months for things to get things up and running, but still to no avail. The engineer failed to turn up TWICE and the reps were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Only received the router today and still waiting for the broadband to be activated -- oh, and on top of that: they're raising the prices. STAY AWAY.

  • @PlusNetTV *UPDATE*. Broadband was 'activated' on the 23rd of this month. Guess what? Doesn't work. The router connects perfectly fine, but when I try to surf it suddenly shuts off and disappears from the list of available connections. Works when I plug in the Ethernet, but not the wireless. Again, STAY AWAY. Trust me.

  • @PlusNetTV I don't think you could help, as I've spoken with people from all levels at Plusnet, while I have simply pointed out that I'm not getting the service I paid for, they try to make out I'm being a nuisance or something!!!!! If I were to speak with you, it would probably be in your Plusnet nature to just naturally start being offensive. You give Yorkshire a bad name. Shame on you!!!!

    well maybe not sky internet... I actually changed from sky to virgin media recently because the sky internet was sooo slow.. although virgin media internet is imo one of the best out there

  • plusnet from yorkshire 10/10 really have reduced my bills by 66%, do answer the phone real quick solved my problem in under 5 mins. cant recommend them enough. five gold stars with a cheery on top.

  • their 'help and support' takes days to get back to you even though their tickets say 3 hours

  • @sweetypie000 it depends on the nature of your enquiry and what ticket pool your support request is directed to. The standard customer support ticket pool (where most enquiries are directed) currently has 114 tickets in it, the oldest time stamped earlier today at 1.42pm.

  • @batman2909 sadly not I'm afraid. The offers on the radio ads are obsolete and one of them got us into a bit of trouble with the ASA so it's probably not wise for us to publish them here :( ^BP

  • They could spend a bit less money on fancy adverts and uk based call centres.. and try getting my telephone and broadband to work more than just 4 hours a day!

    

  • I'm a plusnet customer, couldn't care less about the advert..I just want a phone and broadband service that doesn't cut off 80% of the day! My wife and I are having what can only be described as an absolute nightmare with these people. We've been customers for about 6 months now and have had problems from the start. But for the last 5 weeks both our telephone and broadband is completely cut off for the whole morning and most evenings from 7pm! (Continued...)

  • I'm from Sheffield & would have recognised it more as quintessentially 'Yorkshire' had it been set in the piss-soaked stairwell of a neo-Stalinist block of flats with a terrified pensioner struggling down the stairs, running the gauntlet through gangs of teenagers because the lifts are out of order...

  • While Plusnet may be the greatest broadband of all time...they are walking a dangerous fine line with their cultures representations. NOT IMPRESSED! I shall be cancelling my broadband with this company, since they so quite clearly have such little regard for the Yorkshire man outside of mere buffoonery.

  • @Sheimii many of us here at Plusnet towers are Yorkshire born and bread (me included) so I'd disagree that we've little regard for our fellow Yorkshiremen.

    Having said that, I'm sorry if you find the adverts offensive or insulting, they certainly weren't intended that way!

  • @PlusNetTV Its bred by the way. Congratulations on perpetuating stereotypes of Yorkshiremen being unable to spell, being uneducated etc. Its because of representations like this that causes Northern social mobility to be so low.

    So if you are actually from Yorkshire you are actually simultaneously betraying your fellow countymen and condemning them to an endogamous life with little social prospects. BRAVO!!

  • @Sheimii apologies for the typo, simple mistake to make and has little to do with my academic upbringing or standard of education. Our adverts are intended as a bit of light-hearted fun aimed at raising awareness of our brand. I can't help but think you might just be taking them (and my replies to your initial comments) a little bit too seriously?

  • @PlusNetTV Usually I'd agree that I'm taking it too seriously...but you have to consider the form in which this representation is being projected. As an advert, the idea is to sell us a product as well as the ideology that leads us to believe that the product is good...(and I'm fine with that being a social reality)...unfortunately your marketing campaign relies on, to sell us Plusnet broadband, (consciously or not) selling us an idea of Yorkshire that is pacified and its light-hearted nature...

  • @PlusNetTV invites us to join in laughing at a particular way of life, which while ultimately inconsequential (as in there's nothing I can do to stop this awful campaign) only reinforces ideologies that were before bubbling under the surface, essentially selling us a rebranded form of social death that only reinforces the public schoolboy takeover of Britain...

    I'm a customer of Plusnet (well their sister company Force9) and they are fine, dunno if they compare speed wise to BT and Virgin because we don't get cable or fiber optics down here anyway but they're fine for me, as I found out half the battle is with your router! slow and connection kept dropping with belkin.

  • @rexhead Why is that then? If you are referring to the moors murders you may like to check your facts as they occured in Lancashire, not Yorkshire, as were the moors the victims were buried on. Denis Nielson, Rose West, The Suffolk Strangler, Jeremy Bamber, all serial killers, all from the South of England. Bad people and uneducated people exist everywhere. Your remarks are a prime example of the latter.

  • Be Aware, there is an automatic £25 fee for cessation (cancellation, saying you don't want them anymore after any time period.) They say this is a BT bill - regardless imo who's requesting it because it is plusnet who is charging me.

    They never told me about ANY cessation when I signed someone up (a pensioner btw) and I grilled them saying "are there ANY hidden charges" I was totally assured there were none.

    GOOD HONEST BROADBAND ? NO, not at all.

  • @sweetypie000 the cessation fee is only applicable if the broadband is fully 'switched off', it isn't applicable to customers who leave us for another broadband provider that uses the BT network. There's more info about it on our website. If you signed up online then it's referenced in the T's & C's you agreed to, if you signed up over the phone then it's referenced in the T's & C's that were emailed to you.

  • @PlusNetTV I signed up on the phone and clearly, and repeatedly asked the sales person at plusnet of all and any likely fees incurred if I didn't continue with the connection due to my dad having cancer.

    The fact of the matter is plusnet, like any other ISP will do anything to get a customer so the advert of "good honest broadband" does not hold true in my case

  • Hmmm...shame that there sales team put me off! when asked are ALL your call centres uk based, i was told NO, that some customer service calls are dealt with in south africa, and that there sales and retentions teams are uk based! Very misleading advert!

  • @PlusNetTV That's good to hear, and just so annoying that i contacted to come to plusnet because it was advertising being in the uk, but like i mentioned before due to a member of staff on the 15th telling me that they were not all uk based it put me off. If only they knew that 2 days later it would all be back in the uk!
