  • nice and fast focus!also i ve read that it is accurate too.How Ptys how do you rate this lens after some usage?I want to use it on Night Club Photography and Nightsky photography mostly.

  • @Theokondak I like it a lot! I hesitated before spending $400+ on such an unusual lens, but I have no regrets. I like it, and others like the photos. Nightclub shots might work - it's f/3.5 on the wide (fun) end. It should be enough. The center is already sharp wide open, and edges get equally sharp by f/8-11. The only issue is CA, but lightroom has a lens profile for pentax 10-17, which is the same, which corrects that. It's really a gem. Small, well built, sharp (on 18MP!) and FUN!

  • @ptys007 Thanks for the swift reply!I am thinking of investigating 550 euro on that lens for my job.Seems perfect for what i need. Also, i would like to ask if the lens has weather sealing. When you are on the mountains moisture might be an issue sometimes, thus i am after such lens!

  • @Theokondak It's not weather sealed. It should be fine though if you don't keep directly it in the rain.

This is the only affordable zooming fisheye for Canon (other than the recent Canon L), but for your job I would also consider Sigma (it's f2/8, more $) and there is also the manual Samyang (and similar under other names). Samyang is manual but focus it hardly matters with big depth of field of those lenses, and it's considerably cheaper and very good optically. Better even then the Tokina.

  • @ptys007 I think that this is unique lens.I don't think here is another zoomable fisheye around.Sigma is over the badget, and its not flexible enough.F3.5 is not a deal breaker even for astrophotography, where i can boost to ISO5000 and still get fine pictures.By the way, i am a Nikon user, owning a D7000.10mm will give me 180degrees, while 17mm will give me around 100degrees, which is what i need for both club fotography and Milky way timelapses.Samyang is a good alternative, but no flexibility.
