But yeah. I no longer play. The game was fucking with my head and making me a social wreck. Plus the hacking didn't help in the matter.

@bluewulv Anything you can do to an image you can apply to a prim in-world. Textures are merely images that are applied and stretched over the mesh.

@TerranFairlock Nope. It's a lot like making normal textures, only with a little different guides.

Look around for skin templates that have grid and color references. You don't need to reference your character in-game when making them either.

As a tip, the smudge tool in photoshop with a spray/scattered brush, at about 60-90% strength, works really well for making fur texturing for transitions.

I have been watching your tuts today and I haven't played sl before, but I am wondering, would it be possible to make your avatar in a 3d program and then use that? as that would seem easier on you and the server because of the possibility of lower pollys on the add ons to the avatar

@ZoidzillaSam Technically yes: however it'd have to come in pieces.

SL is too simplistic to handle detailed unique models. The most you can upload are 'sculpted' prims, which are prims with detail up to 32x32 vector points, which become arranged as 2D map which designates where each vector goes. (the R, G, and B values are used at the X Y and Z coordinates.)

So, you could make say, the top of the head, the jaw, and the ears, each one prim, and combine them in-world.
