I am confused..... How come there were almost no attendees at the parade?
If you look u the Mexican independence videos in NYX you'll see the streets crowded with attendees. I had assumed that because there are far more Mexicans in Chicago than there are in NYC (Only about 400,00 Mexicans in NYC) That the parade would be packed..I guess I was wrong..
@DHPJunior parades in chicago are different. we have small parades in every neighborhood like Pilsen, Little Village, South Chicago.. and so on. The big one is downtown
There is one thing you need to understand;it was just not one nationality who lost their lives that day but in case you don't know or read your history, Mexicans lost their lives there too.No one is saying it's your fault; the loss of innocent lives are no ones fault but the minds who are twisted enough to take them. But the choice of this day is- and it could have been thought out better.
while i agree that the choice of date could have been better lets not forget that we remember September 11 always as a day when freedom was put to the test the fact that we fought back to preserve and remember always those who so selflessly gave their lives for the sake of over twenty thousand people which would have been an even greater tragedy they would never condemn anyone or group or nationality who also fought for the right to be free and to celebrate what is by right their democracy
Not surprisingly, some of the parade participants responded similarly--they were in the parade, but were unhappy about the choice of date. I saw such comments on Facebook yesterday. Anyone who has lost family in that horrible site would have to feel especially disappointed in the timing of this event. I regret your loss, and am sorry that the video record was upsetting to you.
I live in this community and for this to be held on September 11th out of all days I found to be disrespectful and offensive to the memory of what this day stand for. the community organizers could have made a choice of holding this the following weekend instead of this day a day when our nation suffered such a loss. I'm all for being proud of your nationality and showing that pride. But not on this day. I have a brother who entered the Twin towers as a firefighter on that day he survived.
