I agree the 6.0 isnt near as good as the 7.3 I have a 7.3 and hooked to my dads 6.0, both were stock and the 7.3 didnt have a bit of trouble with it. the 6.0 couldnt handle it.
i pull a 20000 lb backhoe with a 7.3 with over 200k miles and it never missed a lick......owned a 6.0......no major problems...not as strong as the 73 ...ill soon make a swap and find a 7.3.....duramax is shit!
I borrowed an 05 6.0 from work to pull a 32 foot travel trailer and got a ticket for doing 80 with it. i wasnt payin attention. the same trailer couldnt be pulled above 65 by the 7.3 my boss drives.
6.0s were extremely problematic due to the engineering in them consistant head gasket problems..... injector failure..... ect ect the 7.3 is bulletproof
i drive a duramax for work, it is indeed a good motor, but however it cannot haul nearly the load a 7.3 can, the duramax is good for racing someone and driving around town i cannot say that i would buy a new duramax to haul a work load, the 6.0 is crap, i have not tryed the 6.4 yet, although i am a ford guy i am not bias to just the 7.3, it will loose in a race but it has deffinetly earned its spot for work horse of the century
my dad had a 7.3. it was a freaking torque house. test drove the 6.4 for my freind, not as torquey, rides lighter and handles great for a truck of its size. runs GREAT too.ive driven an older model duramax (2003 i think) and it just doesnt compare.
@mydickho a tuned 6.4 will absolutley shit all over the face of a 7.3. Over 1000 ft/lbs of torque just from a tune on the 6.4. they are fucking animals.
deff would, me and my uncle tried it. my 6.0 out pulled my uncles 7.3 the only thing the 7.3 has going for it is its reliability, but then again my uncles truck has been in the shop more times than mine
when did i say anything about a tug-of-war? my truck out pulled my uncles 15ton grain trailer. fucking dumbass if i meant a tug-of-war i would say "TUG-OF-WAR" read
yep they pretty much fulfill their tasks to suck and get rid of the 7.3 , quite possibly the best light duty diesel engine ever made and came out with the crappy 6.0 and now to come out with the 6.4 getting 9 mpg and blowing after 3000 miles.
Dodge and Chev have now overtaken ford in diesel pickups . there is no denying that.
I sure as hell can deny that yes the 7.3 is and was a good motor sad they did away with it but to tell me a shitty chevy "show" truck is better is bullshit. And if dodge can work on better trannsmissions and other problems with electrics then their trucks would be on top. Idealy the ultimate diesel is a cummins mated to a ford tranny. So looking at it Id say for now the Ford Superduty is on top of its game right now.
That is the perfect combo ( Ford tranny and cummins diesel ) but thats not the case.
Whats with everybody down on D-Max ? That 6.6 is proving to be reliable, the allison tranny is always good and everything electrical and mechanical is decent so I'd say Duramax is definately not out of the question.
One reason I heard why some or most people are down on dmaxes are for one the type of oil they use we have to remember oil is very important espically for diesels some of the dmaxes I have heard use 5w-30 very very thin these dodges and fords use special diesel oil so tell me which will last longer plus chevy has always had a rep for not making good diesels. The allison is great but the motor is extremly iffy Im not a diesel type guy but reading reports for reliability ford is on top.
GM's old diesels were just converted olds' engines. Because of the gasser block they couldn't put out any big power - they couldn't handle a turbo. Isuzu makes the D-Max for GM, and they do have deisel experience, but there were lots of bugs at the launch of the D-Max. Trying to keep up with emission standards n still get power, mileage, and durability has plagued all Big Three. I love the 7.3 PSDs. The 6s and 6.4s are great if you remove the emission controls and chip'em. (but no warranty ):
@hockeyroks4ever except for the ever so common injector problems in the dmax and my buddy has had 2 dmaxs with the allison and go figure he blew up one and the other is starting to slip.
theres a reason us loggers only by fords for crummys, theyre the only trucks that can stand up to carrying our asses up the mountains and gettin the shits beat out of them day after day. funny that its a very rare site to see a chevy or a dodge on a job site of any kind aint it.
What the fuck are you even talking about? Look at the market share. People may be buying them in your area.. and working with them. But people buy all sorts of trucks, all over the world.
Not just ford. Sorry to burst your bubble of ignorance.
just keepen on liken them ugly ass new fords.. with that stupid 6.4.and also you all need to give chevy some credit for being the first company to offer a common rail injection system, ford just know relized it was better that that stupid HUEI injector bullshit. and besides GM was the first to offer a diesel in the trucks back in 82, and ford and dodge didn't do it until after GM did it."there is one thing that is infinate, Human stupidity and the universe.. and im not sure about the universe"!
quick question for u ford guys im actually about 2 swich from dodge 2 ford how reliable r the 6.4 Powerstroke and what kinda milage can i expect when everyday driving mostly 2 work and home
The 6.4L is a huge improvement over the previous 6.0l engine. They have proven to be much more reliable and powerful.
As far as mileage goes expect about 12-13 MPG in stop and go traffic. But this can vary quite a bit with the type of truck you get. Are you gonna get DRW, 4x4, auto or standard, lift, etc. And also your driving style comes into effect. So everybody is gonna be a little different.
Enjoy your 6.4L, they only complaint I've heard about them is their sub-par MPG.
never heard of that happening, i could go and say that about the new cummins and duramax and it wouldnt mean shit cause ive havnt heard of that with any of the big three. so quit pulling bullshit info out of you ass and get a life. you find me an 08 powerstroke with a blown motor and i will galdly take back what i said.
actually, around the time i quit working for ford, was when the 6.4's were just coming out, and we had 3 in our shop with less than 20 miles on them and they wouldnt start. i wish they'd just go back to the 7.3
i have a ford f250 2008 ....(the second truck on video) and after one year i say this truck is really cool(i put box in truck) and the truck is really strong and the sound is very great!!!i love this truck;)
i know most of you guys on here love ford. But here in Australia we drive holden (GM's Australian equvilant) because we like to use one side of the road not two like u wankers do in those things!.
yer we got the omega ute. 770kg payload capacity. now if that aint a work ute then i dnt knw wat is. and sure ur f250s have massive payloads and crap but look how frigin huge they are.
it also comes down to towing capacity and if your towing a 6.2m boat or a large caravan the commodore and falcon ute cant do it legally and i would rather drive a truck sized vehicle than waste my money on a landcruiser
im pretty sure the commodore has a 1.6 tonne towing capacity, sure if u want to tow a boat or caravan get one of these but if u want a ute/truck that has car like handling, and better performance then get a holden.
I just bought a brand new 2008 F-250, with a stick and some creature comforts and its setup with the off-road package, the final tab for the truck was $42,000. Its an awesome truck, I haven't met a task it wont do.
Sure there is....but only the older beastly Ford's...that....hey what do ya know....are still WORKING, unlike their Chevy/Dodge brethren, who have long since surrendered to the junk yard. I own 4 Ford truck two 150's a 250, and an L9000 all of which give me no bull, unlike a lot of my friends bow ties, and rams.
Every Truck and Car Mag I have read puts the Ford and GM made trucks just about even... The Dodge always come dead last thanks to having the wrong gears mated to the wrong engine. International hasn't been the same since the 7.3L and when Ford puts a diesel in the F150 next model year it will be Ford Built. The Contract with the 6.4L w/ International runs until 2012 then Ford is supposed to have a new diesel ready for the superduty that will be Ford built from the wrold class plant in England.
Ford has a world* class diesel plant in England that supposedly builds diesel power for vehicles in Europe and this will be the first time they will use their own motors in their own trucks... I know I got worried to but from what I have read they make almost as good a product as Mercedes does with their diesels. I hope they don't use CAT. Ask any truck driver and they will tell you (I am one) CAT's get the worst MPG. Detroit Diesel get the best with Cummins a very razor thin second.
let me guess bucklessyooper you also think ford owns cummins? for how your talkin it sounds like you believe everything you hear. i just heard kia is makin a pickup that will you a john deere diesel!!
it doesnt matter what auto tranny you get, if you put some big ass insane chip in there get a better tranny, the tranny runs too hot. now with a manual a bigger clutch like southbend is a whole lot cheaper and easier. be a man drive a manual
Not if you build it right. An automatic is stronger than a manual. This is due to the different gears used in the transmissions. A manual has separate gears on shafts where as the automatic has gears contained in planetary gearsets. The planetary gears are always in mesh, so you'll never grind a gear while shifting. And the torque converter actually multiplies engine torque. Now, in my truck, I'll only have a manual~ automatics are boring.
yea youll never grind gears but the tranny will slip. seen on the juice with attitude. but since youre so sure autos are stronger get a dp tuner put it on the 140 horse smoke program and have fun and come back in awhile and we'll see how that transmission is doin
look my uncle gave me and my dad an 93 ranger long time ago and we still have it but the only problem we"ve had is the brake line but that was my dads falt he hit a hole and the bed hit it and yeah but take ur chevy and see how long that will last not no 14 years and the ranger goes anywhere so ford rulz chevy sucks
You mean Cummins? You know that the Cummins contract with Dodge ends very soon and its highly likely that Ford will be getting the new Cummins contract. If not, Ford will go to CAT engines~ they already make most of CAT's parts. Dodge trucks are no longer the tow masters they used to be, now they're just dolled up luxury beasts for suburbanites. Ford still sells mostly stripped down models for real abuse like farm work.
hey "mightymetalhead" your a little right a little wrong, Ford did buy 10% of cummins.. then cummins bought it back for more than Ford bought it for... sooo that's how it go's
Which ever one you fucking idiots came up with the idea that ford owns or has ever owned any part of Cummins is a fucking idiot!!! Cummins is owned by cummins, not Dodge not Ford, it is allCummins. Dodge just has a contract with them to use their engines you fucking retards!!!
I swear to god I will fucking kill the next person that says this. Ford does not fucking own cummins, it even says so on the CUMMINS WEBFUCKINGSITE!!!! Get a fucking clue, please.
Well then this is going to break your heart. Ford buys Cummins engines and puts them in F550s and higher, GASP! Also, it's not a "twin turbo" it's a single turbo with a blower to boost low RPM torque.
i really hope you did not buy this truck cause you were told that it had a twin turbo setup. if they were "twin," they would have to be identical turbos that put out the same amount of boost at the same rpm range. one turbo is smaller then the other. you can lift the fucking hood and see the difference. but if you two knew anything you would know that both are not the same and dont operate at the same time 100% of the time. blower are belt driven to retard!
I know blowers are belt driven I've discussed this with multiple stroker owners and truckers and we were looking at a catalogue and saw the turbo set up and it looked like a turbo with some attachment shit on it but I see from the commercial there's two side by side.
I'm a car/truck lover. I dont care if its a GM/Ford/Nissan or whatever. If it gets me where I need to go in once piece, I love it. It just so happens I get better offers from my Ford dealership.
The cummins may last longer but the truck they put it in only lasts a little over 100k before it starts rattling itself apart and starts shedding interior pieces. The PSD is a 300k motor in a 300k truck. My 7.3 gets almost 19 mpg by the way.
Ever owned a dodge? Dodges are just as durable as fords, I know a lot of people with both. One friend has nearly 300k on his dodge and its still in great shape. After working on both I find dodges to be of equal quality. You see dodges are used for this thing called "work" therefore are typically more beat up than a mall crawling ford...
powerstroke cant make enough power for the f650 so they put in a cummins. and do we really need to talk about the repairs and life span compared to cummins?
that might be true, my buddy has a 08 650 and its one of the Florida "F-650 Show Truck" and it has the cummins, a custom paint job allision tranny and the whole friggin bed comes off the truck, its sick
The 6.0 was a good motor as long as you left it stock. If you start modding it, that when you run into problems. The 6.4 doesn't seems to have any problems.
do you know anyone that owns the new 6.4? because my dad is trading his for a cummins because of 4 trips to the dealer broken pass. seat and no heater
uhh, This new Ford has a LOT more features than that damn dodge. like for instance more towing, more payload, its quieter, and not to mention the tailgate step.
Sorry got it wrong, YOUR cummins, thats different. Now I know your talking shit. Your just glad you got your own truck and automatically think its better. My last comment was made because I honestly thought you were talkin about your DAD's Cummins. Ignore the previous.

And the torque converter actually multiplies engine torque. Now, in my truck, I'll only have a manual~ automatics are boring.
DaBucklessYooper 4 years ago
yes but it takes one second to burn the clutch.
jkrych 4 years ago
yea youll never grind gears but the tranny will slip. seen on the juice with attitude. but since youre so sure autos are stronger get a dp tuner put it on the 140 horse smoke program and have fun and come back in awhile and we'll see how that transmission is doin
73powerstroker2008 4 years ago

I dont care what you all say if I could get an 08 ford f450 with a 08 chevy 6.6L duramax w/ an allison tranny now that would be a truck
firefighterfreak25 4 years ago
I dont know. I would have a 08 f450 with a Powerstroke and a allison.
powerstroke2504X4 4 years ago
You'd rather have an Isuzu engine over an International?
Now, I want to see a good Cummins in the new Fords. International just hasn't been the same since they cut the 7.3.
DaBucklessYooper 4 years ago
Multiple turbos are too complicated for Ford guys to understand. It's not "twin-turbo". It's "dual-sequential" turbochargers!
Christ, Ford even advertised it on TV. Does it get an easier? Yeah it does. Dodge I-6 engines.
mpwelk 4 years ago
im a ford guy and i know that they are a dual sequintal setup one being a fixed van and the other being a VGT
psdpowerstroke 4 years ago
You mean Cummins? You know that the Cummins contract with Dodge ends very soon and its highly likely that Ford will be getting the new Cummins contract. If not, Ford will go to CAT engines~ they already make most of CAT's parts. Dodge trucks are no longer the tow masters they used to be, now they're just dolled up luxury beasts for suburbanites. Ford still sells mostly stripped down models for real abuse like farm work.
DaBucklessYooper 4 years ago
i think ford realized not verybody wants all the goodies and the price tag that goes with it.
jkrych 4 years ago
hey man, i've worked all around fords and i have to say that ford just kicks the shit out of that piece o shit cummins and the duramax.

Ford makes the best truck, hands down.
35Remmy 4 years ago 2
hey "mightymetalhead" your a little right a little wrong, Ford did buy 10% of cummins.. then cummins bought it back for more than Ford bought it for... sooo that's how it go's
steve1300 4 years ago
Which ever one you fucking idiots came up with the idea that ford owns or has ever owned any part of Cummins is a fucking idiot!!! Cummins is owned by cummins, not Dodge not Ford, it is allCummins. Dodge just has a contract with them to use their engines you fucking retards!!!
mightymetalhead 4 years ago 2
incorrect. ford originally owned cummins.
polarisfreak 4 years ago
lol, btw Ford just bought CUMMINS!
anywayz2 4 years ago
I swear to god I will fucking kill the next person that says this. Ford does not fucking own cummins, it even says so on the CUMMINS WEBFUCKINGSITE!!!! Get a fucking clue, please.
HahnsB2 4 years ago
Well then this is going to break your heart. Ford buys Cummins engines and puts them in F550s and higher, GASP! Also, it's not a "twin turbo" it's a single turbo with a blower to boost low RPM torque.
yeahitstom 4 years ago
No fucking shit sherlock and its F650 and higher retard. Yes it is twin turbo. Blower? Are you fucking stupid?
HahnsB2 4 years ago
i really hope you did not buy this truck cause you were told that it had a twin turbo setup. if they were "twin," they would have to be identical turbos that put out the same amount of boost at the same rpm range. one turbo is smaller then the other. you can lift the fucking hood and see the difference. but if you two knew anything you would know that both are not the same and dont operate at the same time 100% of the time. blower are belt driven to retard!
dchipres03 4 years ago
I know blowers are belt driven I've discussed this with multiple stroker owners and truckers and we were looking at a catalogue and saw the turbo set up and it looked like a turbo with some attachment shit on it but I see from the commercial there's two side by side.
yeahitstom 4 years ago
Its actually Twin-sequential turbo charged.
mediarocker543 4 years ago
FORRRD SUCKS!
never ever buy a ford with that facked up twin turbo compound setup...
worst mistake you could make

I work for gm now, much much better
so stfu u ford lovin loser
SuperMuise 4 years ago
I'm a car/truck lover. I dont care if its a GM/Ford/Nissan or whatever. If it gets me where I need to go in once piece, I love it. It just so happens I get better offers from my Ford dealership.
mediarocker543 4 years ago
cant compare build quality of a Ford to a Dodge, Cummins kicks ass but the truck its in is useless
daveosato 4 years ago
The cummins may last longer but the truck they put it in only lasts a little over 100k before it starts rattling itself apart and starts shedding interior pieces. The PSD is a 300k motor in a 300k truck. My 7.3 gets almost 19 mpg by the way.
kblackav8or 4 years ago
Ever owned a dodge? Dodges are just as durable as fords, I know a lot of people with both. One friend has nearly 300k on his dodge and its still in great shape. After working on both I find dodges to be of equal quality. You see dodges are used for this thing called "work" therefore are typically more beat up than a mall crawling ford...
HahnsB2 4 years ago
Cummins good, dodge transmission bad,
FordRulesChevySucks 4 years ago
Correction, auto transmissions=suck, don't be a girly man, get a manual.
HahnsB2 4 years ago
You don't drive in a Metro area do you, manuals in cars ... good fun... in truck... bad

plus they come with the heated tailgate for the push home
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
powerstroke cant make enough power for the f650 so they put in a cummins. and do we really need to talk about the repairs and life span compared to cummins?
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
The f650 was using enough fuel, thats why they put a cummins in it.
taedbaed 4 years ago
lol nice one, "the f650 was using enough fuel" does that really make sense?
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
They have a Cat diesel
06RedfireGT 4 years ago
they have a cat or cummins, my friends work truck is a f650 with cummins since cat takes some different licenses.
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
thats true bro, if you upgrade you can have that big cat in it, i hate cummins thoiugh i wish ford wouldnt put em in
billybob8945 4 years ago
that might be true, my buddy has a 08 650 and its one of the Florida "F-650 Show Truck" and it has the cummins, a custom paint job allision tranny and the whole friggin bed comes off the truck, its sick
billybob8945 4 years ago
Cummins doesn't make a bad engine, but for truck I think the PSD is better.
06RedfireGT 4 years ago
cummins is a million mile motor, and the only powerstroke i would drive would be a 7.3 never horror storys about them yet.
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
The 6.0 was a good motor as long as you left it stock. If you start modding it, that when you run into problems. The 6.4 doesn't seems to have any problems.
06RedfireGT 4 years ago
ford kicks ass, there the bomb and so are there new 6.4 TWIN TURBO!!! duracrap and cummapart dont have that
billybob8945 4 years ago
do you know anyone that owns the new 6.4? because my dad is trading his for a cummins because of 4 trips to the dealer broken pass. seat and no heater
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
that 4-450 is 4X4 there really expensive but all the ones u have in this vid are king ranches and lariats
billybob8945 4 years ago
geez.... you people are wasting almost 55,000 dollars on a damn ford, and a powerstroke at that?? You should have got a damn CUMMINS....
RhettaDaddy 4 years ago
uhh, This new Ford has a LOT more features than that damn dodge. like for instance more towing, more payload, its quieter, and not to mention the tailgate step.
hotrodkid7 4 years ago
did you mention the 9 mpg hahaha fuck ford
Obswalq 4 years ago
my dads powerstroke gets 7mpg my cummins gets 22mpg
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
Ohh Ohh!! Don't forget the heated tailgate... To keep your hands warm while you push it :) Damn Ford is johnny on the spot :) Atleast they care..
infilmancer 4 years ago
haha right on ;)
hotrodkid7 4 years ago
if you want a quieter truck with a tailgate step then you dont need a diesel go get a mini van.
a3ftgiant 4 years ago
Sorry got it wrong, YOUR cummins, thats different. Now I know your talking shit. Your just glad you got your own truck and automatically think its better. My last comment was made because I honestly thought you were talkin about your DAD's Cummins. Ignore the previous.
