Kudos to the director and actors. This is the way NO WAY TO STOP IT should be performed. This song in NOT a dance number!. In other videos of this song that I've seen there seems to be a need to march, skip, dance, etc. to the beat of the music, but that's not the way it should be. This one is perfect!
amazing set. great singing. the acting needed help though. Esa had it. the captian needed the anger present in the scence and max needed emotional comitment. over all...the best i've seen on youtube

@Jeph629 we just did the sound of music two weeks ago and our elsa was better than maria. her voice was just stronger, theres nothing wrong with that though
Ah! Elsa is so good. I'm playing Elsa and am so jealous because her songs are wicked hard for me to sing. Anything higher, or anything lower-most of the notes are placed right in my break This girl makes it seem so easy.
grrr, I wanna be Elsa now. This version was amazing.....but in our version "you dear attractive dewy-eyed idealist..and so on those first two lines" i like how we cut off on the "idealist" and "realist" and dont drag on..it sounds better to me.....but this Elsa has an amazing voice..but the whole "idealissttt." i didnt like...but im 14 so i guess she knows what shes doing
wow the girl who plays elsa in this has a really pleasant voice. nice job.
the girl playing elsa at my school does not have a strong voice...it's not bad, just not STRONG enough. im disappointed they didnt choose a stronger singer.
This is a COOL song, I don't understand why this and another was was excluded from the 1965 Movie version...although Elsie in the movie version was a little too evil to get this happy singing a song like this.
I was wondering this too. Could it be that the movie-makers had an eye on the European audience (and market), and it was perhaps a bit too close to the end of the war to risk that part of the storyline? Easier and less controversial to have both her and Herr Detweiler as shallow and not very bright rather than active collaborators with the Nazis? Just a thought. Oh, and great singing, guys!!
I always thought the baroness was a submissivly evil character. She is in it for the money and probably would support the Nazi Party to live in glamore!
Does anybody have an idea why this song, along with "How Can Love Survive?", was deleted from the film version of The Sound of Music? I personally like this; I wanted to hear Max and Elsa sing in the movie as well.
Personally, I don't think it fits the Baroness' character very well. Parker portrays her to not be at all musical, and there's the jib included "I would have brought my harmonica" in the movie. To include this would have made audiences confused with her motives if ya get me.
And Max sort if covers this when Rolf says "Heil Hitler" and he says "what's going to happen is going to happen, just make sure it doesn't happen to you." and Georg gets pissed with him! :)
Dude, Elsa baisically supports the nazi regime so she can keep her comfortable life - in the movie we couldn't have anyone saying there was 'No Way To Stop It" - Besides, Elsa said she was going to send the kids to boarding school in the movie, how could you not hate her?
WHERE in the movie does it show she supports the Nazis? True, she is very, very comfortbale and materialistic, but htere is a shred of decency in her. I think she's a misunterstood character.
Admittedly, she tricked Maria into leaving, but she only told Maria the truth. And if Maria never left the Captain never would have realised how much he loved her.
And finally, she backed down gracefully and made Georg realise that he loved Maria (see the balcony scene.)
True, that balcony scene is very gracious, but in the movie she is portrayed as much more...oblivious than in the play. That song is a way of telling Georg to give up, don't worry about his principles so that he ( and by he, she means they) can be comfortable. Maria would never do that, and in fact when the Captain gave her option, she said it was his concious. So no, the movie is different - but that song doesn't feature, does it?
I thought you guys did pretty good, especially Elsa. I played Max Detweiler in our production, although one thing I think it needed was more movement, I just kinda saw some standing around, when I did it were dancing and moving around and just having a great time on the stage. But each production is a little different, but good job
This is great, but I get the feeling that my schools production is better. I guess its because max and elsa do so much more, and our captain is playing the guitar throughout as described in the script.
the orchestra is terrible

The problem with having an Elsa this good (superior!) is that the other performers are exposed as unable to achieve her level of accomplishment.

This solidifies who I'm going to cast for our production of this. She makes me realize how strong Elsa should be. [:

The reason is that the Captain is UNWILLING to roll over. His "that's charming!" as performed by Theo Bikel is
meant to be ironic (which it is) He doesn't think it's charming. Elsa and Max prefer the easy route---
Listen to Theo's "there's nothing else as wonderful as
I-I-I-I-!" How he drags it out---again---he doesn't buy it!

EXACTLY what I was thinking. When I played Captain Von Trapp in my highschools version of this, I was extremely sarcastic throughout the entire song.
