Ann speaks the truth! The key to cannabis use is to just stay productive and positive, which is 100% possible with the drug because its fuckin natural. Alcohol is one of the least productive things ever, tobacco too. So, relax, get high and get enlightened by the cosmos while listening to The Beatles or Pink Floyd of course :)
Anyone can enjoy cannabis once at a time but It doesn't changes the fact that it is addictive and it fucks your brain. And she talks here like a psychic.
she is either drunk or stoned. I live in The Netherlands - here everyone can poses certain amount of this weed legally and smoke it almost anywhere. I met people addicted to this stuff- their brains are destroyed and muscles are weak. It's fun to try it once in your life, but using it on a regular basis is as addictive as cigarettes or alcohol. I can't believe Carl Sagan married such an empty woman.
@adlozi And you're either ignorant or stupid, or trolling. Carl Sagan was a frequent cannabis smoker himself, and he enjoyed the hell out of it. You can look it up.
i cant tell when people like her or her husband talk if they are putting on airs or thats really the way they are, if it's not the way they are and they're just like.. being all frou frou or whatever, they seriously need to stop, because it's annoying
Ugh, I remember when I thought marijuana was bad, and I just despised it. Seeing some guys holding a Canada flag with a marijuana leaf, it annoyed me. If I saw that now, I would smile and possibly applaud them. I now know that the social norm should always be questioned critically.
Apparently the American Government are gonna look at the marijuana laws scientifically. They still think it should be illegal because of their studies, and yet alcohol and tobacco are legal. It makes no sense to me.
By your logic alcohol would be illegal because it's used irresposibly, sorry but that's a bunch of crap, look up the history - it will tell you why MJ is illegal, of course it has to do with money and politics :/
And by the way, it's wrong to generalize humans, we are all different, peace !
So, why IS the Earth only as smart as its' 15% dumbest people? I mean, WHY do we have to wait seemingly SO long for all the regular people and "authority" to catch up to the truth and love? Why is this planet so fucked up? I guess it's just evolution and time.
advocates of change in marijuana laws could learn from this woman. from my expierience, lagalization advocates almost treat marijuana as an idol. refusing to call it a drug, but instead saying its an herb, saying it has no negative externalities, listening to music about pot constantly, or practically worshiping bob marley. its annoying. be logical and say things that actually have merit like the financial cost of prohibition, the little harm of it, and your agenda will go much farther.
id wager that if america decriminalised marijuana in the sense of making it a a finable offense (which i would gladley except as a starting point to the eventual goal) it'd be able to bring in a large revenue of money, a right step in regaining its AAA status and id be suprised if it didnt also attract a large amount of tourism as a result. I think the economical benefits of marijuana will be the major selling point in politics if it were ever to be legalised/decriminalised
@SpaceBandit666 It can't be found. I was very sad to hear this myself... I contacted someone working for Ann and she says it's no longer available to be viewed. Not sure why. :( I'd pay for it... she's brilliant!
@thisisonlyatest1 Thank you SO much for letting me know, thats so unfortunate :( I searched everywhere and asked many people about it but no luck, glad someone finally told me! Thanks again!
My drug of choice is alcohol, as it is contained in beer. I use it for my own personal reasons, and would never think to justify or proselytize its use. I respect Anne Druyan, but I don't understand why she needs to promote the benefits of Mary Jane. I do, on the other hand, support the decriminalization of its possession.
First, there is no reason to justify or "proselytize" (I see thru the subtly insidious choice of vocab, there) the use of alcohol. And I don't think she'd make a video "proselytizing" if marijuana were legal.
You "don't understand why she needs to promote the benefits of Mary Jane"? It's illegal that's why!! Duuuuhhh!! If there is any substance that is beneficial and is being kept illegal for idiotic reasons it needs to be promoted, so it can be made legal, or decriminalized.
@4tabula2rasa0 Inhaling smoke to one's lungs is never a good thing. If it comes down to the lesser of two evils, then go for it. Don't promote inhaling smoke as if it has no consequences.
@rherbert57 smoking is not the only way to consume marijuana and consumption is not the only use for marijuana. you can eat it and have absolutely no bad effects but have a myriad of good effects. you can make paper with it, use it for oil and fuel, treatments for many deseases and even cancer
Well it looks like someone replied before I could. Rather than echoing wearestarstuffsagan, I will add that even if you stick to smoking it, it has not been positively linked to cancer or any other lung or throat disease. I agree that putting smoke in your lungs is not the best thing, but that doesn't mean that it's not innocuous. And vaporizing is innocuous, and in that scenario, the benefits faaaaar outweigh any detriment.

It remains disappointing to me that even in this group i see the term 'Pothead' used. This may come as a surprise to some, but many of us are remarkably 'clear and very spiritual' instead of being 'wasted' in any way. I can Not say the same for those using Alcohol, Cigarettes or many other mostly negative but legal substances, such as Pharmaceutical Drugs. Prohibition Reform is Needed Now!
She deserves the highest regard. A wonderfully intelligent woman. If SHE advocates changes to the marijuana laws, we should listen. It is great mind like hers which should advise our actions. Not lying politicians. And I have seen more destruction caused by alcohol then marijuane ever could remotely concieve of.
I wonder if that poster behind Ann is Carl's from when he visited the fair in '39 as a child (The Demon Haunted World, p.25). It's certainly faded enough to be.
How primitive must a society be to make nature illegal? I'm not surprised someone as intelligent as Ann Druyan can see how pointless and nonsensical it is to do such a thing. However, I am surprised to hear that she blazes that shit up.
@nector1592 ever heard of alcoholics anonymous? the government should let the individual make that decision. besides, cigarettes are way more addictive.
@pcrsweetness Don't go to Alcoholics Anonymous. They are a sham religion-pushing organization with a low success rate. Your family and friends will help you much better
@SketchyBack oh yeah, it is by no means good. i was using it as an example that its not the governments job to outlaw everything that could be addictive (gambling, alcohol, cigarettes)
It always makes me cringe when the anti-pot people start spouting off the "harms" of marijuana", because not only is most of it blatant lies, which they've fully tricked themselves into believing.. But also because even when they're not stating those false 'facts', the other claims they make against Marijuana are ACTUALLY the negative effects caused by Prohibition of it, not any inherent property of the substance itself.
"Pot destroyed so-and-so's life!"... NO, being arrested for it did!
