  • i think the baby is supposed to be what remains if wanders soul, given a new body to start over with. i dont think the priest intended it to happen, he meant to destroy wander and the black beast he had resurrected. the leftover soul built itself a new body, marred with horns, partly to atobe for his sins, partly to relieve him of the heartbreak he had endured, as well as spare him an eternity of suffering in whatever hell he would be banished to. that's what i think, at least. how about you gu

  • Wait I thought that those priest had killed mono because they thought she screwed up destiny :/, I never thought these characters where either good or evil, but then again I dont remember much about this game only that its one the best games I played as a kid

  • Is it wrong every time after I got sent back I tried to shoot the birds? o.o

  • "One Day Perhaps You Will Make Atonement For What You've done"...and he did The Wanderer is Ico

  • @thejokerslaughbeware I think Ico does probably in my opinion "redeems" Wander's mistakes since Ico is the only horned child to escape and solve the problems of the tower. That's why Ico breaking his horns in the final battle is symbolic that Wander's lineage is finally free.

  • and the last guardian begins...Maybe???

  • Wander was trying to save his true love, but in doing so he was possessed by the evil demons he fought. He was never bad,he was just blinded. But anyway,Dormin (being a "Priest") thought him evil for consulting with these beasts. Thus wanting him to pay for his "wrong " doings,he turned him into an innocent child.Worst ending by far.

  • @FinalFantasyGirl151

Not quite blinded, more like stupid and selfish, capable of destroying everything beatiful in the world, for his needs. Collosi aren`t harming anyone. They aren`t threat to anyone. They are just there. Beatiful creatures that wander in eternity. Yet, he destroys them for personal needs. It is sad to find that actually all of the characters in the game are somehow evil, yet good. Nobody can judge Emon as well, as he exiles people because he wants to protect his own... :))

  • @lBeskol The colossi are 16 magical creatures that exist for one thing only, to imprison Dormain.(split into 16 parts) They also serve as guardians to attack anyone that trys to free dormain. They have no mind of their own. They were created by Priests of Emon long ago to seal Dormain( who is the devil in a kind of way) and to be locked away in The Forbidden Land. They wander around for eternity with magic seals on them, and when you stab into those magic seals Dormain leaks out

  • I think that the vortex that the Priest created sucked evil. It removed all of Dormin, and also took away Wander's age. I think this suggest that Wander was never entirely a good person, the vortex removed all the evil from him and left him in the most innocent, most good state of human life, a baby.

  • What?....WHAT??!!!!!! I played this game just to see him turn into a baby so his girlfriend can change his diapers??!!!!! L-A-M-E!

  • @FinalFantasyGirl151 uMad? I loved it.

  • meh

  • AGRO FTW

  • This game is truly a masterpiece....it should be adapted into a movie or CG movie...anyone agree?

  • @BrandNewSongz

I say no, I don't want to see one of my favorite games raped by Hollywood.

  • @Geminilion100 haha, you say that since Dragon ball, Tekken, Street Fighter and KOF get raped by Hollywood right? xD

Well an anime or CG movie won't be so bad if it's managed by Dreamworks or even better, by japanese themselves (a stuff like Studio Ghibli)

  • Whoa. This must've been back when video games were made for art's sake and not profit's sake.

  • @isudude0913 I totally agree.....Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Shenmue....ect. The late 90's were really amazing. seriously

  • the best game i have ever played in my life. thanks so much fumito ueda

  • Was Dormin really evil? All he wanted to do was be free and escape those who would imprison him again. He never lied to the Wander, just left stuff out. Why was he imprisoned? What did he do that was so evil?

  • @Casanuda because of lord emons damn religion....The religion was strongly against horns, dark spirits, and resurrection. he wasnt even evil at all. he just was considered evil because of emon's religion.

  • @Casanuda I don't think Dormin was really evil, I think the crusaders were really afraid of his power and that's why they divided his being into sixteen idols or sixteen colossus to deprive him from such power

  • Everyone says that Wander died, but what about that baby? Did it really just appear from nowhere..?

  • @Exodune Technically in my opinion, Wander didn't die at all. Instead he reverted to an innocent state purged of the dormin creating a new person. Some of Wander is in the baby but not his memories. This is roughly speaking... my opinion of what happened.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom would you think that baby its the boy in ico?

  • @fannboygh Perhaps, Ico, the boy could also be a descendant of this child. The horned children... It's a thought. Only the creator of the games would know. Then if the creator doesn't even know because they didn't think that far ahead. ...oh well *shrugs*

  • @fannboygh lol who knows

  • @StoneMonkWisdom that would be the saddest thing ever :( reborn without memmories u.u .. even if it would be the most logical answer..

  • @StoneMonkWisdom

That was very close to my theory. I was under the impression that Wander actually survived his encounter with Dormin, but was just drained of nearly all of his life in the process (to the point where he regressed in age.) Hey, it's fiction. Anything can happen.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom; A rebirth, like the phoenix.

  • @Exodune i think its symbolic for rebirth and atonement. but im sure everyone has figured that one out huh.

  • The soundtrack alone is worth the money.

  • ...Now i decided...

Dormin is an absolute A**hole!! He HAS resurrected Mono, but everything what's left from Wanda is a baby! As a baby, how's he supposed to spend his life with her???

  • @soschar2050

He could have died too. That would have been a better option?

  • @soschar2050 Dormin did say wander would have to pay a heavy price y'know.

  • @gamingwonderboy That's right but he should have told wander/wanda/however you write it what the price is!

...but then wander wouldn't have accepted the challenge and the whole story wouldn't have happened...

  • @soschar2050 and we wouldnt even have this game.

  • I wonder if Wander even has his memory...

    Confusing to think about.

  • :'(

    Very Touching...

BUT the odd thing is the mother is just a teenager AND a virgin! maybe?

  • Remember what Wander said at the beginning of the game that Mono had a "cursed fate" and was killed because of this? Maybe this is what her supposed fate is: Starting the line of horned children, by becoming the surrogate mother to the first horned child. Oh, the irony!

  • what are your thoughts on the baby? a reincarnation of wander? and the horns to represent him being cursed before? or maybe the baby is what dormin is now cos i still cant think what happened to dormin, then the game makers threw in the secret garden like of eden, so much stuff going on

  • what are your thoughts on the baby? a reincarnation of wander? and the horns to represent him being cursed before?

  • that horse made me cry

  • how ironic......that an emotion as beautiful and pure as love for another can cause so much sadness and death. i can't tell who i pity more. Wanderer went through so much to reclaim the thing he loved most, only to lose it again. Mono is trapped in that cursed world, forever living in solitude with a newborn Wanderer and his horse Agro. trapped forever. the both of them.

  • @theninjamandude

Love is very selfish emotion. So I am not surprised.

  • @Arppis that's true. that's very true.

  • @theninjamandude

Doesn't mean it's wonderful feeling when all go well thou. :)

  • @Arppis i'm not sure if you're saying "doesn't mean it isn't it a wonderful feeling" or "doesn't mean it is a wonderful feeling" but love isn't the only wonderful feeling. for example, money gives people a wonderful feeling, but is the root of all evil and greed. same goes for revenge. it gives you a feeling of payback, of settling the score, which feels great. but it also makes you just as corrupted as the one you sought vengeance on in the first place, and someone else will get revenge on you.

  • @theninjamandude

    Everything has their flipside. :)

  • i suppose you could almost say that the baby is the reincarnation of the wanderer?

  • is there a back story to this game because i played through it all and finished but i had no clue as to what anyone's name was and i thought the horses name was adam..and the only way i found that out was when, I guess his name is wander , called for him in battle..if there is a prequel or even a sequel to this game can anyone "hook" me up because i loved it mainly for the killing of the cololssi and had NO clue what the story was...i was lost throughout the whole game but it was fun as hell.

  • I wonder what are century will say when they find this? 0_o

  • Where does Voice of the Earth come in?

  • 4:41 Firstborn of horned children like Ico

  • If I was that horse I wouldn't get too comfortable; they're gonna have to eat something when they run out of deer and birds.

  • After I completed this game I had so much yet so little to explain everything, the amazing moments, looking upon it from a simple one time see perspective it will seem like just a simple game of killing giant beings, but if seen in a more in deapth view it will tell a story of so much. I am sure there has been a lot of effort placed into the story, with all these different twists and turns.

  • Talk about going to the end of the earth for someone.

  • One of the best game ever made... but I hope 'The last guardian" won't be that sad too...

  • That deer is going to be some good eatin....

  • i wonder what the forbidden land and the shrine of worship looked like before everything was decaying and crumbling. you can see structures and stuff throughout the game, and the SoW was broken a lot, so i wonder what it all looked like and what lived there.

  • didnt that horse fall to its death?...it was like a 100 feet drop!

i wish they would make another Shadow of the Colossus!..

  • @kungfoolai Your in luck. Its being remade (along with ICO) for the PS3, and "The Last Guardian" is yet another game in the story.

  • @DjSkrull Re-made?

you mean the exact same game just for the PS3, not a new SOTC?..

looking forward but...err kinda stupid since its already for the PS2!..

  • @kungfoolai sounds like it. same game but with updated graphics.

I think its a great idea since i traded in ico before i beat it back in the day, and now i can't find it anywhere.

plus SotC is still one of the must play games for any gamer...and all the new gamers will have a chance to experience it.

I think Team ICO is making this move to help newcomers know the "Story" behind The Last Guardian, or at least other stories in the universe so they can enjoy thinking about how there related.

  • @DjSkrull Thats truly great news :)

Have you got any links where I can read more on it?

  • whats with that baby?

  • @N00Bie92 dormin turned wander into a baby

  • If deer and birds and other animals can live there, so can a girl, a baby, and a horse. This is one of the best resolutions to a game because it is bittersweet. It's not just a game about killing a bunch of giant stone things and getting the girl. It's a game about sacrifice and redemption.

  • @TheMyzik Very well said.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom do you think that the last gardian has a place in the story line??

  • now what are they going to eat? (they're stuck in that world. no bridge.)

  • @atlaswingpasaway The deer and birds.

  • Poor Agro, even after her master sacrificed himself to save Mono, she persevered and continued her life, helping Mono and the small child.

Truly, the best game ever, hands down.

  • Omg all the Colossus bodies are so sad ;_; I only realized what they were at like, 1:30, before that I just thought they were rocks.

  • the story is sad soo very sad but the boses is the fucking bitches in this game fucking bitch collosus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!there the the only boss in video gamne that almost crack my head off

  • Argo! Best horse ever.

  • One of the best games ever.

Did Roger Ebert ever seen this game?

I bet he would take back everything he sayd about games not being "artistically worthy" if he knew this game ...

It is a work of art, a masterpiece.

  • Argo: "Alright, miss, you can keep him, but I ain't changing his diaper..." as he limps upstairs...

  • This what I call an Adventure!

  • wander basically means to explore without any clue or whatever somthing like that and explore is another word for adventure because they both pretty much have the same description if you ask me the description for explore and adventure are pretty much seeing new things in new places or thats wat it says here

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if that is the same hawk from the intro cutscene.

F***Ing amazing game, what else is there to be said?

  • Some dynamite coulda given the story a happier ending

  • oh god i cried, i shouldnt have even watched this im like halfway through the game!! what an ending though, there are no other games like it, really really good stuff.

  • simply amazing, when i bought it i never expected a game to affect me as this did but i was prooven wrong...5/5 and this is an ending to remember

  • In the beginning, are they showing the bodies of the dead Colossi?

  • I like this type of endings.... it remindes me the ending of TErranigma .... the hero tranfored in a bird in the end...

  • i hope the last gaurdian can live up to this emotion because when i first beat the game i knew i would remember this ending for the rest of my life or it would at least mark me

  • Good ending, at least we know Wanderer isn't dead

  • wow thats the true love he figth for her and he die when she finnaly live wow this make me fell like the love can do anything

  • its sad and beautiful...

the first time i finish this cry

    i cry soo mutch...

=') and now i have a tear in my eye...

  • wow it makes me feel a bit sad.

    thats great^^

there should be more games who cause emotion besides anger about failing.

can i listen to the song from 7:36 til end seperatly?

  • yes, it's called "sunlit earth"

    google it.

just type "shadow of the colossus mp3"

    and look for sunlit earth.

  • thanks =)

  • so ico is Wander in child right?

  • it would make sense but there are other horned children so who knows

  • horned?

  • I don't think it would be him specifically. There are other horned children, and it sounds like by the time of Ico the sacrificing of horned children has already become an established ritual. Plus in the game you encounter the ghosts of other horned children that have all already been sacrificed. But perhaps Wander is the ancestor to a certain bloodline that produces them or some such?

  • Yes, I think that's spot on with what was intended. Ico was the story of a witch and a curse and this is the story that brought about the witch and the curse some hundreds of years before the events of Ico.

Wander is the progenitor of the blood line and if I recall from the instruction manual that came with the game, just one horned kid is born every generation to that village of people and he gets sacrificed. I think that horned kid is meant to be a reincarnation of sorts.

  • They story line behind this game is perfect, and the team behind it created something special and unique. More games need to be made where you get that kind of emotion from playing, not just an immediate gratification. I personally haven't played the game through (which is a shame considering how good it is) But from researching the plot and piecing everything together, it all just makes sense and really is a perfect story if you think about it.

  • best game ever

  • i see

  • heart cant take stuff like that. ok is any1 else wondering where the baby came from??? did it hatch from an egg? look the big bird colossus from way back when laid an egg and its the main character???

  • I've heard that they're making this into a movie. If that's true, they should do it exactly as they did the game. No real description of story, or back story. Not much dialogue. Main character brings girl to altar, voice speaks to him, he goes out and destroys some collossi, then the epic ending. All of it is done in a somber tone, with amazing music, and next to no vocal work.

That's a game-to-movie format that might actually work...

  • I'm fine with a movie

as long as it doesn't involve Uwe Boll BA-ZING!!!!!!!!!

  • HA!!!

  • all i was woried about was that Horse ......

  • I look at it like this: Wander lost Mono when she suddenly died, she was a special person to him. He vowed to destroy the colossi and accept any consequences to himself in order to save her life, using the forbidden spell.

The horse (Agro) throughout the game was his only companion. Undying love for Mono, Wander sacrificed his own self to save her... It's a unique way to look at the game, but it's how I've interpreted it. I cared about Wander, Agro, and Mono.

  • @Jess16racer me too i could care less about anyone else

  • heartbreaking

  • No. Egypt, no. Bigger, no. Sequel, yes. I'd love a sequel. On that doesn't leave off in a sad manner.

  • I wonder what's on top of the temple ;)

  • I always wondered what was up there, on the top.

Must say, it really is weird as an ending. But I like it. :) Thanks for uploading this. :)

  • I agree, StoneMonk! :D

Anyway, it's an epic game with an epic ending, and going back over all the dead colossi was a great and even somewhat magical thing to do. (Mistake: When they show the corpse of the Flame Guard, they put him back in the temple!)

The only things I think the game could've used were:

A way to kill some of the colossi other than stabbing them continuously.

Some longer journeys to get to them!

  • maby some mini mobs on you journey to make it a little more intresting to walk

  • i agree on what you say. but it would be even better when there is like creatures in the way! Like getting to them is fun and all. but if theres isnt like something in the way, it gets boring. its like going to a boss whithout the swarms of goons around! Other than that, i love this game!

  • this ending is weird
