OK, I have to watch these first several episodes to see how much they changed Dennis's character, because I was watching the reunion, and they said that people had complained about Dennis being too bad, and that kids would emulate his bad behavior, so they had to make him not so bad.
I'm 32 years old. And this is a real joy to watch. What America was like before I was even born. And let me tell you, I would have loved to have had a childhood like this. One of complete innocence. Hypothetically speaking, take this same neighborhood Dennis grew up in and today it would be gang infested, impoverished with drive by shootings.
Go for it, Henry! After all that snuggling and Glen Ford, Dennis might have wound up with a little brother! If he had, the show might still be on the air! :-D
The show's supposed to be about this kid who's a troublemaker and his first line is "there goes the best mom in the whole world" and he proceeds to try and be helpful around the house.
Dennis the Menace was a great show, and still is. I used to watch it on Nickolodean. It was also on TVLand. From 1959-1963 that show was great, and the 1950s were the "Golden Age," for television. Of course there was Dennis the Menace, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, but I Love Lucy was done from 1951-1957. Jay North was a great actor, Joseph Kearns was great as the neighbor, and Herbert Anderson as the father, and Gloria Henry as the mother. Dennis always got in trouble.
@sean1672able111 yeah, but the trouble he got into was usually acting on what he thought was the RIGHT thing to do. he never purposely tried to start trouble; or his situations were created by the adults themselves, sometimes by their own greed to look good in a given situation.

@1skullduggery Now there was a cute kid and smart too. Too bad he had a lousy childhood.

Jay North wasa great child actor, it's a shame he became a gay porn star after college.

@slowdream101
That's how rumors get started. He never became a porn star. Gay or otherwise.
