Research with personal experience, not some statistics or what you believe. Yes, what you say might be true, but it's like saying you need a huge house or a tiny apartment just for yourself. Over 60fps is just getting greedy and it won't matter unless if you are seeing with something other than your bare eyes
it doesnt look different. FPS doesnt have anything to do with graphics. Its just how smooth the games runs. 63 is a lot better than 32. If you're playing an fps, then 63 will be a big difference from 32.
trust me wen i say it is a big difference. When you run a fast moving game like cod4 at 32 it will jitter sometimes, but if u play at 63 it will look stable.
seriously i dont understand people that dont see the difference between 30fps and 60 fps.. are u fcking blind!? i even notice 55 - 60 fps.. seriously man. am i special maybe? and dont tell me my eyes suck cos i can just see it easily
You got reaaaally weird benchmark results tbh. Creek is the most demanding map in CoD 4 and that's the map where you got the most FPS o.O
And then we've got Winter Crash and Ambush who are two of the less demanding maps ( no vegetation to render ect ) and there you didn't even reach 60 FPS :S
ya wen i was doing it im not sure how i got them. I did them individually, i didn't do it all at the same time. and i might have been running programs in the bak. I cant really remember. I can try to do the fps again and see what i get.
I run the game at 1680x1050 (with a Nvidia 8600GT) and it gets a little slow in big action scenes... Will I notice a much better performance if I set the resolution at 1280x800??
yes u will, but i had an 8600gt aswell, and i had to put it at 1024x768 and put some crappy settings. But to answer ur question u iwll see a difference, maybe put it down a lil more and ull sig a big difference.
I have an 8800gt 512 at the moment, but im strongly thinking of upgrading to a radeon hd 4850... Will this be a good move or will i not notice any difference?
what fps do u get? if u get around 30-45 i say yes. But 8800 gt should be good for a lil bit more time. If u feel laggy than yes, but if u dont then theres no point.
just bought this card, waiting for it to come. but cod4 aint a good bench for it, my x1900xt plays cod4 at those settings, cod4 isnt taxing on modern cards imo
not really, just the memory size. But if its only like 30-40 dollars difference i say get the 1gb one, but if its more than dont bother. But remember to get the aftermarket cooler one. Because the original one will get really hot. But im pretty sure, they'll eventually remove that one and keep it with the aftermarket cooler.
lawl, ur the one who came here and started shit. U must have so much time to go out of ur way and write a comment saying that u have 30 more fps than mine. Ur real cool..... -_-
Hey video creater, what speed is ur q6600 oc to? And what cooler do u have? And also can u upload some more videos plz. I enjoy them. And if u have some sort of video camera can u record some 3dmark06 footage and post it. Or just tell me ur score. Ty.
it was oc to 3.0ghz but i put i back down to 2.67, they seem to be pretty much the same. And i have the arctic cooling freezer 7 as my cpu cooler. And ill try to upload some more vids after i get some newer games to play. Ill probably do shadowrun, crysis, etc.. etc.. And ill try to post some 3dmark06 footage wen i get a new camera since my old one is broken.
crap i just realized something, i am using a SLI "ready" mobo, does that make it impossible to use the 4850, or does it just mean i cant go crossfire? I would think I could still run a ATI card because its the same slot PCI-E x16. oh god please tell me im right, if i half to get another mobo right after buying a 200$ one, this will suck bad <.<
i have same exact specs as you and i use the FPS recorder that comes with the video card driver, and it supposidly doesnt reduce FPS, and i didnt notice any slowdown either, but on the demo, no matter what my average was around 45-60 fps, the only time it was 90+ was when i was looking at a wall or when i looked straight up at the sky in which is got about 130+ fps.
i do have a quad core, and i usually get about 90-100 fps not using fraps on multiplayer. just try the game on these maps and tell me what u get, wen u have fraps recording.
well srry, i dont rlly go in that deep into screen resolutions, but if u have time then go ahead. i just thought since the normal monitors r 4:3 it would be 4:3.
I just bought this card but i needed a new power supply to support it, but im new to installing stuff like this, so i couldnt figure out how.

i recommend anything over 500w. i had a 450w psu and my card died. the card lasted about a day before it got fried. still love the card tho, got it replaced after getting a 550w antec psu.
well aslong as the mobo can support crossfire, then i think its pretty good. btu i dont think the slots r pci-e 2.0 slots, so that might cut ur fps by a lil. i recommend looking at the p5q-e instead since it has crossfire x and it has 2 pci-e 2.0 slots. but good rig nonetheless.
