Okay, I worked at the temple this was taken at. All these tigers are either rescue cases or cannot be re-released into the wild. It's kind of a moot argument. The monks aren't fake. If you really want to see animal abuse you should have seen the tigers before tourists were let in. They used to have to eat rice, because the monks were too poor to buy them meat. It's awesome that you got to pet a tiger man.
Everyone is making the assumption that being in the wild is what a tiger wants. We have no way of communicating with tigers so your assummption is strictly based of your own personal desires as a human. There is no proof that links animal and human thought. So, for you to say that it is not possible that a tiger would rather be in captivity than in the wild is simply naive and has no factual evidence.
@Ghettofarmerboy Yea cause animals would much rather be chained up with foreign creatures petting them then be in their NATURAL homes. And their is factual evidence of animals in zoo's showing signs of boredom such as sleeping , laying most of the time and chasing their own tails.
@JosKiddin umm yes, id rather be chained up sometimes and bored rather than needing to constantly be alert because my life depends on it. do you people not understand that their NATURAL homes are fun-lala lands. you break a bone...you die, you bleed..you attract predators and either die or hurt yourself more and then die. you get sick..there is no medicine..so you die. drought happens and no water...you die. ever watch discovery? seems like half of newborns all die soon after they are born.
Its ridiculous..these monks are profiting - making so much money from these gorgeous creatures and mistreating them. Go to Facebook site Behind the Cloak of the Buddha and you will see the true pictures of cruelty...disgusting.
This temple is illegally holding an endangered species captive. They have no license & they don't allow a neutral third party to come in and research how the tigers are actually treated. There is a ton of info on Thorntree from volunteers and others who have figured this place out. The monks are NOT compassionate, they are making a ton of money off of this BUSINESS! Please don't go there. Tigers weren't put on this planet for you to pet. If you care about tigers, do something else to help them.
It's fucking Thailand man not New York City...you don't need a a license for every single thing including breathing. And are you God? Who the hell are you to say what the purpose of a tiger is on earth? I hate when people say that. Makes you sound like a complete douche.
Very mature reply Ghettofarmerboy. You obviously care about the fate of tigers and your mastery of the English language is truly impressive. Thailand signed the CITES Treaty and it dictates what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for caring for endangered species. Just because it's "Thailand" doesn't in and of itself excuse the abuse of tigers.
and as for my english - its freakin youtube, wow you reply on you tube with the correct grammer - that does increase your IQ. i speak properly when i need to. not when im arguing with some hippy, lets save try and save the world tool - if the tiger doesn't like it - let him go get a cerebral cortex, some oppossable thumbs, and become bipedal.
oh earth will eventually die as well. it is unavoidable. so what the hell does it matter? go save tigers if it makes you feel better about yourself.
@ldom1000 How you can possibly relate that and keeping tigers in captivity? Ever hear of Origin of Species? Well if you haven't, I'll paraphrase - Darwin basically says that every species is in it for itself. Keeping a tiger in captivity does not defy natural selection (if anything it bolsters it) but killing yourself does.
I know exactly what's going on. I've lived here for close to twenty years and I see daily how Thais care for animals. Not all Thais are cruel, but it would be fair to say that most would do whatever it took to make a few Baht if they could. These 'monks' are fake and they're making a ton of money off of morons who think they're doing something nice. thaiwildorchids(.)com/tiger-temple-abuse(.)htm
drug the tigers? they probably give them some animal xanax...sounds pretty awesome to me. i mean cmon guys get over your hippy, ignorant views on life...
hmmm would I rather be a tiger chilling on xanax and lay around and get petted all day, and have my food brought to me ?
or
Struggle in the wild and constantly in the search for food, fighting to protect my children?
Its kinda sad to see them chained up. Atleast, build them a large enclosure where they can roam freely. These animals deserve a lot of respect.

Here is the truth about the evil you are supporting at Tiger Temple: cee4life dot org/tigertemple.php
The abbot of the temple is evil incarnate.
