@hisvictimesty she might not be victor wooten, but it's not really how impressive somebody is, i could tell half way into the video her solo was about getting into the groove, i really doubt a lot of players that say they're better than her could hold time as well as her. There are a lot of technical metal bass players that can go fast and it looks impressive, but the feeling has to be there too if you want to make people feel something. Music is also subject to personal preference.

I listen to heavy metal, which is a really difficult style of music, virtuosity is the standard (if you don't believe me, type in yngwie malmsteen in the search box) that being said - if you think the point of this video is about virtuosity you are missing the point. This is about groove! She did great here, Funk bass is all about the feel, and the performance.

@lousehr Seriously ? I doubt that "promoting homosexuality" was the band's goal. Would you say the same for the very famous, all-male bands like U2 or The Beatles ? I think "entertainment" & maybe "female empowerment" were some of the band's goals. (Add "having a well-paid gig" & "fun" in there, also.) Instruments like drums and bass are seen as 'mens' instruments". Women are often discouraged from playing those instruments by society, family etc. I'm glad to see these ladies rock it out !

I think it's great for the bass community that some people are taking it further but like i said, i like the bass to play a certain role. Players that are constantly soloing aren't making music i'm into. I don't see why that is such a hard thing to deal with.

@jimdreferee Their styles[ Geddy and Divinity] are so very different, how would that be of benefit? He is more rock and she is more pop/r & b. For her audience, if you can't dance to it, it is not going to work. She is playing for her audience. Sometimes a well-placed "A" note in a groove does more than a lot of notes.
