  • Paul Heyman gained a lot of weight since back then.

  • nice

  • This was the real Midnight Express. I saw them when they first started in Southeastern Championship Wrestling. They were with Norvell Austin at the time.

  • @hammermjh Yeah, and they were a great team before Norvell joined them and before taking the Midnight Express name. They dominated SE around 81-83. Had a good run as the Midnight Express in Memphis in 82 in between.

  • good match

  • Shawn michaels, is even in his early career a showman :P

  • AWA was better than WWF and WCW around this time. I always thought so.

  • Oh, you can tell how old this is just by the size of that "mobile phone" Paul E. is carrying, not to mention the lovely mullets! My oh my, times have changed!

  • Shawn has hair and Paul Heyman/E Dangerously is skinny. Amazing how 20 years can really screw your looks up.

  • I know it's wrestling, but there's no way Shawn and Marty weighed 475 lbs

  • What?!? The Mavericks fired Avery Johnson?

  • Dude, they were like the best company for the longest time. They made Hulk Hogan before WWE took the ball and ran with it.

  • SHAWN MICHAELS HAS HAIR

  • Randy Rose was such an underrated worker.

  • i watched many episodes of the AWA on espn classic !! The midnight rockers were awsome!!, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jennety were so young !!

  • Man, AWA was really good. It seems that most of the greatest wrestlers either started out there (Flair, Steamboat) Wrestled most or their entire careers there (Bockwinkel, Verne Gagne) or got their big breaks there (Hogan, The Road Warriors, Ventura, Michaels) It's a shame that Gagne couldn't compete or couldn't change with the times, because he had some of the greatest pure workers and Greatest superstars ever.

  • Who is Judy Moore?

  • Man, no wonder WWF killed AWA......they took all the good talent and re-packaged them better. Look at the Midnight Express.....just look at them, not nearly as marketable as any of the WWF tag teams.

Yeah, some will say THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST EVER, A CLASSIC TEAM. To that I will say, just compare the revenues and attendance figures between AWA and WWF.

  • You have no clue what you are talking about. The NWA version of the Midnight Express (Eaton and Lane) were just as good as any WWF tag team in the 80's.

  • I never said they werent, all I said is that they werent nearly as marketable.

Its all in the numbers my friend! Profits, ratings, attendance etc.

  • Well considering that the Eaton and Lane version of the MX never set foot in the AWA, how do you know how marketable they were or how much money they made?

  • but they could outwrestle any team from the WWF/E

  • Who had the Ravishing nickname first? Randy Rose or Rick Rude?

  • I have known Ravishing Randy for some time now --he is one of the meanest/ornery SOBS-I once saw him bite the ear off a grizzly bear just because the bear looked at him wrong!

  • I have know Ravishing Randy for some time now --he is one of the meanest/ornery SOBS-I once saw him bite the ear off a grizzly bear just because the bear looked at him wrong!

  • I know him as well, and that is no word of a lie.

  • Yep. It's from the time period when ESPN showed the AWA nationally every week.

  • WHat were the names of the 2 guys in midnight express again? SInce i noticed that midnight express had changes in people over time so i just wanna know which 2 were these i couldnt hear the names.

  • Dennis Condrey and Randy Rose

  • @Landraider14

There were two versions of the Midnight Express at this point. in the AWA, is was Randy Rose and Dennis Condrey (with Paul E. Dangerously), in the NWA it was Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane (with Jim Cornette).

  • wow. This was on ESPN classic?

  • how awesome was that midnight express music?

  • In case you were wondering, the track is 'Chase' from Giorgio Moroder's sountrack for the film 'Midnight Express'.

  • yes 1987 in las vegas at the showboat casino ,,, i was there ....

  • ok i'll change it

  • Actually, this was 1987.

  • Paul E is one of my favorite managers of all time. Bobby Heenan and Jim Cornette are the others.
