I used to love the way the little girls looked in this scene when I was a kid. The makeup and the hair. I always tried but never looked as cute as they did XD
FYI The little girl he chastised for trying to sneak onto the boat at 7:53-8:010 died before the film was completed. I believe she was burned to death.
Looking at this again in regards to the children being in love, if you think about it we all hope for that one true perfect love, our soulmate, I think they were soulmates and they couldn't bare to be apart from one another.....You have to look upon the movie and the scene as it is a FANTASY....
Kao. Made in Heaven was my favorite movie in my 20s/30s Thanks for reminding me ....how magical Kelly mcGillus was in it....i met Timothy Hutton 25 years ago...he was as sweet, kind and lovely as he is in his many roles...favorite actor and movie ...I need a good cry ...going to find on netfix...thank you!!!!
ca remonte droit dans mon enfance..pas que je sois né dans les années 30...mais vu tres petit ce film m'a marqué...ces scenes, cette atmosphere, inscrites dans mon inconscient...ouiiiiin ouiiiiin
I cried when I saw this when I was a little kid. I still do actually. My friends and I have agreed that "Made in Heaven" is the story of what happens to the lovers.
I too find this part the best ....I believe that some souls are born young while other souls are born old. Hense the saying, he or she is an Old Soul!
I really don't think it's weird.. This love that we feel now is much smaller than the love that we could feel in a divine place.. I think that are some younger than others because they wait longer then others to be born.. just think..
@Sims2freakazoider ~ I always thought that too about the two unborn children that are in love, weird totally weird ~ I think the reason some were younger maybe perhaps they would be preemies...idk
I know this sounds strange, but I wonder if this reminds anyone else of the issue of abortion....and how many children, inventions, cures for diseases might be lost...because people simply don't want to give birth and terminate their pregnancies.
@shiapilar Well, you can only do what your circumstances allow you to do, so who's to say that some of these children might not grow up to be sociopaths or dictators? You could even say the same with natural miscarriages or regular childhood diseases that kill thousands of children ever day. What if that child has the knowledge but lives their entire life in a poor area?
With the proper environment, any person is capable of inventing or curing disease. If one person doesn't do it, another will.
This was my favorite part as a kid too. The Technicolor is gorgeous and the concept is so fascinating. It upsets me that they're all white and that all the scientists are boys, but it's still fascinating. I agree that the tall, pensive kid is meant to be Lincoln and the salesmen line is very. funny. And yet, it's a really heavy scene. Shirley's doomed little sister. The separated lovers. Yikes, I got choked up. It's so sad.
"That's what I'm going to fight. I must try to make them see that people must be the same on earth as they are up here. Free, equal, and united." You forgot white. All the kids there are white. And only the males seem to be scientists.
Also, boo on separating the lovers, while we're at it.
@mujerdelcolegio not only was it my favorite part, it just kills me that the scene it is divided here on you tube. the whole unborn children in heaven scene should be on one loop, from when M & T are going up the staircase, until the children go out on the ship to be born. i don't know how anyone could split the broken hearted lovers scene.
She appeared in the role of a little girl. Her dress caught fire from a jack-o-lantern on Halloween night, October 31, 1939. She died from the injuries on November 3, 1939. At her funeral at Forest Lawn a few days later, her five brothers served as pallbearers while a quartet sang her favorite song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Her burial shroud was the unborn child toga from her role in the Shirley Temple film The Blue Bird.
according to findagrave, the little girl who tries to sneak onto the boat is Caryll Ann Ecklund; she died shortly after filming (before the film's release) when a jacko-lantern caught her dress on fire on Halloween. They buried her in the pink toga she wears in this scene. In her book, Shirley remembers it being a birthday cake that caught fire, but in a newpaper article from the time, she is mentioned has having had serious injuries from a jackolantern that night. she was 4 1/2.
Oh Dear God why did I do this to myself? Why?!?

If Abraham Lincoln is there, shouldn't Charles Darwin be there, too? They were born on the exact same day, February 12, 1809!

Now, I'm assuming the kid with the potion to "put people to sleep" was William Mortan but who was the kid @3:28?

@thesonicfan21. I think Deering was Juanita Quigley. The one who said "I'm going to be born to a throne" was Diane Fisher.

I like to think that the little girl who said "I'm going to be born to a throne" is princess Diana. just thinking....
celestecristal852 1 year ago
@celestecristal852 No, Diana wasn't born to a throne, she was married to one. Not to mention this was the 1700s lol
KatieM101388 9 months ago
@celestecristal852 I think it's Queen Victoria. If the tall boy is Abraham Lincoln, and the girl is Victoria, she would be born ten years later.
