Snipedown is the only player who can consistently own Pistola in a 1v1 situation.  Pistola makes every pro look stupid but when he runs into Snipedown its a different story it could go either way and this past tournament Snipedown had his number even though TD won. Those two are on a different level than other players in terms of raw individual skill.

I don't remember that scenario, but actually a commonly used tactic, is when your the last on alive, and your bottom gold, you can kind of die on purpose (Because a single player spawning everyone bottom gold is not very good), so when you die, your 4 dead and then you can get fresh new spawns up top or in sword. Like I said, I don't remember that specific scenario. But in order for this too happen, you would have to know for sure that they have nobody in lobby or sword to get that spawn.
