For those who say "Daewoo this," and "Daewoo that," Chevy is in a GLOBAL market. The Cruze's development was aided by GM Korea; highly respected and second largest manufacturer in Korea. The Cruze is nothing less because GM Daewoo--now GM Korea--largely helped design the car. That's not far from saying, "Oh, I wouldn't drive a Ford Focus because it was newly designed by Europeans." GM Korea is a division of GM, so it's still a GM vehicle. It's a global market now, get use to it.
This cruze is garbage compared to the one I own. He talked about the interior being nice. Nice my ass. Mine is so much better looking. They chose a shitty car to try and sell the product with on this one. Shame on them making the cruze look like shit
In the UK the Cruze is a bargain bucket product - cheap and nasty, It wouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as a Honda Civic or Toyota Corrolla let alone a VW Golf or Ford Focus.

Really... 150,000 cruze's built in the United States since it was launched and one steering wheel fell off? The other 149,999 cruzes built have not had their steering wheels fall off. I work at the plant. I build this car for a living, and I actually know and understand what happened in the steering wheel incident (and it truly was an isolated incident that we won't hear any more of. I can promise that.) And I put my money where my mouth is and just got rid of my truck for a loaded cruze ltz
I like it a lot. I would, however, like to see a hatchback and coupe version. The domestics tend not to offer different styles, which is disappointing seeing as I am a patriot and will only buy american.
I read where one car enthusiast was wondering if a small turbo would be as reliable over the long haul as a standard motor. He wasn't sure such a motor could get 150,000 miles on it and that it would cost more to repair it if something did go wrong. Any thoughts??
The compact car segment will be the most competitive in years. The Chevy Cruze and the all new Hyundai Elantra. The new 2012 Ford Focus and 2012 Honda Civic will be here soon and you still have the Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, and Volkswagen Golf. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these cars.
@avengful Come on which Chrysler product has had brake override in 2003? I'd like to know, because the Japanese were always the first to come out with new technology always way more years advanced then the us. For instance Traction Control ABS, brake force distribution, brake assist, DAC, UAC all the important acronyms lol
@avengful Sounds like a scam between GM and The federal government eh? funny all of this happened right when they filed for bankruptcy, and the police reports on NHTSA'S website from the accelerator issues did not match up VINs and the whole report sounded foolish. That could be another government conspiracy never can tell now days. But what manufacturer doesn't try to cut costs.
@avengful Do you know how many times GM bashed it's competition? they ALWAYS DO, Take a look at the new Cruze commercials. And Toyota is still one of the BEST manufacturers along with HONDA taking the top spot. And their recalls WERE NOT IDENTIFIABLE, Look at all of GM and Chryslers recalls they have each year for an actual PROBLEM. Toyota just has a reputation to maintain.
sat in one..nice vehicle but not impressed. My 2003 Acura (with 98k miles) is still head and shoulders above in quality. The interior of the Cruze still feels cheap and the controls, buttons, and levers still lack the silkiness found in my Acura. I would suggest those interested in this vehicle look at a certified, pre-owned Acura or Honda; better deal, proven quality and reliability, and a kickass engine that doesn't quit!
i think that cruze and all chevrolet cars will bring a new pricing level to all cars vendors on market. those cars are not bad at all. but the pricing is just crazy. from VW i will get polo for basic cruze. basic polo without anything, this car got a ac full electric and more!
@avengful The Japanese will remain the best until something is actually done. And most UAW employees are ridiculously paid. Ford has gotten so good because they're using Japanese parts from it's subsidiary Mazda. And actually Lexus sales were up from last year, plus Toyota and Ford still sold the most. Any whom hopefully Toyota an correct this US issue, which they never faced in Japan.
@avengful EXACTLY, ''because they're made in the US'' they are trying to keep costs competitive yet build them in the US and hold their reputation, and still pay US wages. Plus US workers just don't take pride in their work, like back in the old days. Toyotas top rated vehicles are all out of Japan.
The all new Thai built Chevrolet CRUZE was launched today at snazzy media event at Central World in Bangkok today. The car looks cool and comes in a 1,6 and a 1,8 petrol version plus a 2,0 turbo diesel. "Enginered to Respond"
I think the styling of this car is a fail, for the segment...how should I put it..."its just trying too hard", specially those tail lights, WTF? Well that's for the exterior, I saw the interior, I think its excellent. I hear it feels sluggish compared to say the civic or mazda 3? though I cant imagine its 0 to 60 is any worst, maybe the driving feel? Reliability and GM after sales support, well time will tell. ooh BTW is it just me or the back seats leg room too cramped?
GM's vehicles are always larger than the competitiors. This would be considered as a mid size sedan 10 years ago. And we all know that bigger isn't necessarily better.
Well all i can say is that the Cavalier, and Cobalt were both an Epic Fail!!!
If this car is anything like them Screw ever buying a Chevy compact.
Chevy never really made safe cars so this maybe a good change.
The next gen focus will be much better thought. I don't know about Toyota to many cars with bad recalls. Now Honda maybe they need a new design crew. The civic and Accord are eye gougers.
The Ford Focus would be my choice for now. Until the Cruze is proven.
I just saw an ad for this car that said, it was like a Civic....Oh no, honey, it's nothing like a Civic. You can only wish it's like a Civic. The Civic is not the benchmark for this class, it's beyond the benchmark. If the Cruze wants to be like the Civic, Chevy will need to take some classes from Honda. Then, they'll be worth my time to atleast give it a chance.
@billp1980 the civic is an ugly piece of shit. Its not the benchmark.. The cobalt sells twice as many cars as honda does. I like honda but u gotta give GM some respect bro
@WVCobalt1 I do give GM credit for some of their vehicles. I own a 2010 Camaro and I love it. However, when it comes their sedans, they just aren't as good as Honda. The Cobalt sells more because they're cheaper. But, buyer beware. You get what you pay for.
it's really good looking car from inside and out . the price is good comparing with Jetta and other European and Japanese cars . the gas mileage is good . i don't understand why people think that is toyota corolla is better than cruze ? the cruze is much luxurious , more options , 6 speed automatic , sporty look . and much more.
okay let's talk about the prices here in my country dealers:
@28mohd I don't know where u live but here in Quebec, Corollas sell for 16000$ while he cruse is going for 15000$. In terms of reliability and durability i think i'll stick with the corolla.
What a bankrupt buggy! This is the cheap junk you get from a car company collecting welfare! They will sell millions of them because stupid people are everywhere.
@inserto1000 they will sell millions cause chevy is the NUMBER 1 COMPANY IN THE WORLD!!! You must drive some JAP piece of shit. Your just mad buddy cause Chevy has paid their loan with interest like a year ago. They have reclaimed the top spot and they will stay there. Fuck toyota, Honda, and everyone else. GM RULES!!!
@zjumps33 Sorry but your wrong. GM reclaimed that spot. Toyota had it for 3 months. And then they had all those recalls and people realized they were junk. You need to grow up and study things before you talk shit. Or maybe your one of those 21 year olds that think they know it all.. Grow up kid.. You call me a kid but Im sure Im older then your immature ass!
@WVCobalt1 Sure dont act mature keep calling by calling everyone a fucker or an ass or calling Japanese Japs. Show me where GM has reclaimed the spot. I cant seem to find GM being number 1 anymore. Nor do i see GM in the top 10 most reliable cars in 2010 according to Consumer Reports. Toyota is still in the top 10 with all those "recall" problems. 7 of the 10 are Japanese. So dont tell me Japanese cars are crap when professionals have rated them and you sir are no professional.
@zjumps33 Watch the news and you would know that GM is number 1 again. You cant say a car is reliable when its still new. Thats why I dont listen to consumer reports. And I dont hate Japanese cars. I owned 2 Nissans and an Accord. However, I still believe Chevy makes better cars now. They now make great cars that will last and arent overpriced like a Toyota or Honda. I drive a 06 Cobalt LS and it gets better gas mileage than a Civic or Corolla, it was $5k less, and its got more power.
@ocelotxp I can see where you're coming from but I enjoyed the vanilla rentals before I bought the SS. But as you say, the Turbo coupe is in a different league with interior and styling, not to mention that kickin' motor. Man I love my car!
@zjumps33 don't listen to that ignorant WVCobalt1, The only reason why Toyota had problems is because they're made more in the US, then most of GMs cheap unreliable junk. And their recall was unidentifiable. Look how many GM and Chrysler have every year for an actual problem hahah it kills me. Toyota is a great manufacturer I own GM products that was a mistake sitting in my garage. And yet my Toyota 4Runner has 330k on it and nothing done?
@WVCobalt1 Do you know how ignorant you sound? hahah The only reason why Toyota had recalls is because they are built more in the US then most of GMs vehicles. In terms of assembly and part content. And look at GMs reputation how many recalls they have every year that's an actual problem. Toyota issued a recall for UNIDENTIFIABLE acceleration. Which was a part made in the US.
@Zinizzle Its still jap parts. I had one recall on my Cobalt and a guy I work with has had like 5 recalls on his piece of shit Corolla. Do the math. Or do I need to loan you a calculator to figure that out. My Cobalt gets the same gas mileage as a corolla, looks better, and its faster too. Simple choice
@WVCobalt1 Cobalts are JUNK even GM knows that. I am ashamed on how shitty the new Cruze is. When you get into a Toyota there is not a piece out of place or fits incorrectly, yet GM is the king of RATTLES AND SQUEAKS. You sound like a dumb union worker on drugs. No wonder why the US can't build a damn vehicle. The proof is in the reputation and the consumers, enough said!
@WVCobalt1 hahah dumbass, GM paid off there Government bailout with an escrow account which was also given in the bailout. And you're a truly biased moron if you think American vehicles are more dependable then Japanese. And you keep driving you're cheap unreliable made in Mexico GM product.
@Zinizzle Whatever retard. Obviously you have no idea of what your talking about. And judging by your youtube channel you cant see whats going on cause you got your nose up your jap pice of shit car's ass. Get a life and quit trolling. And by the way, your username is gay too
@WVCobalt1 wtf is wrong with you dumbass? I am not biased, I've owned just about eevrything. And I have a toyota 4Runner sitting in my garage with 330k nothing done! and yet my Chevy has a blown head gasket at 95k get your head out of ur ass.
@Zinizzle I never said toyotas run bad. I know they last a long time. But you cant say chevy is junk just cause yours blew a gasket. All cars break bro. Mine runs great. Chevy has redesigned all their engines and vehicles and now their very dependable. And they cost less. Toyota keeps charging too much for their stuff. And consumers are now going back to GM. You cant deny that.
Yeah I just test drove this and it fucking sucks, get on the freeway and stomp the gas, literally go no where. It has a lot of road noise. you have to ratchet the driver seat to decline it, its ugly and only gets 22 mpg on the sticker, I get that in my 98' V6 accord. This thing sucks
I've had the chance to drive the 1.4 turbo LT with the 6 speed auto a couple months back (GM was offering test drives of their new vehicles) and it was very impressive...felt much more responsive than the Civic or Corolla ... interior was much nicer too...people can say what they want...drive one and you will be surprised...I just hope the quality holds up over the years.
This car is completely developed in Korea by Daewoo..
It's designed by Daewoo as GM claims but contrary to GM's claim that it's engineered in Germany, it's actually engineered in Korea too... Daewoo modified the Opel developed Delta I platform for the use in the Lacetti Premier back in 2008 and GM took this so called Global platform back to Germany, called it the Delta II and started using in other GM cars.. this car is Daewoo through and through... Sorry~
Read something else besides Wikipedia. J300 project is the code name for the GM "Cruze" models around the globe. That engineering project has been headquartered in Germany... Rüsselsheim to be more exact. It has been badged as the Daewoo in South Korea, where it was further designed into the Lacetti. Now, Rüsselsheim is the place where Opel is headquartered. So... Opel personnel design the cars and those cars get badged as different (GM) brands around the globe.
Ahhhh... talking out of your ass, talking out of your ass...
You are talking to a person who was actaully was involved in the next genration Lacetti (J300) project in Korea... which was eventually named Lacetti Premier
Where in the heck does Wiki mention that Cruze was developed entirely in Korea? lol
the story that you are selling is what GM is selling to you clueless Americans to give impression that this car is actually German... lol
@valkyrieXX Homie! Idig that your involvement (if you say so) was in Incheon, South Korea. That would be where the Daewoo is located. I get that and if you read my comment more thoroughly, I said that that is where the J300 project was further developed into the Lacetti. But, the fact of the matter is that GM's claim is right, because this fuckin project is or was headquartered in Rüsselsheim, Germany (the Opel facility). And, I am not an American, plus I could give a shit less about the Curse.
Just seen a Cruze commercial during Glee attacking the Ford Focus now, i'm like fucking seriously GM? that's really gonna make you look good bashing your competition and talking shit when you're the one who filed bankruptcy and fucked up FORD DIDNT....from my point that's not a good marketing pitch.
Am going to be buying one to use as a taxi. Little smaller than my current one by the looks of it..but I have a test drive Friday to Tuesday. Hope its as good as the reviews say
This car is truly a Frankenstein monster: built with help from Germany, Australia, South Korea, China, Russia and India. I can't wait to see how badly it falls flat on its face when they compare it to the Civic or Corolla.
@happy543210 It is designed in South Korea. The engine is of a German design, and will be built in America. In first hand experience, it is one of the strongest, most durable engine designs in the world. A little on the heavy side (Engine itself is a beast), but will give the Civic and Corolla a run for their money. I can't wait until the day when the Civic and Corolla fall flat on their face when they get compared to the Cruze.
@ChickenC0re "but will give the Civic and Corolla a run for their money." Probably for hte corolla but for the civic I HIGHLY doubt it. They are just going to release a new civic in 2012 which will AGAIN completely SMASH GM in their own game they are trying to play. They simply do not have as good of an engineering team as some of the other companies do. All they talk about is the interior but a turbo 1.4 isn't going to last for SHIT! wait for the recalls.
LOL at the guy's green wrist band. It is as if the dealer ran out salesman and decided to grab a guy from a theme park booth, dress him up, get him to read the quick reference guide, roll the camera and poofff... VIOLA! LOL
Take it from someone who has liked tight, well made German and Japanese cars for years now... the 'Cruze' is a winner! I rode in one while visiting relatives abroad, and it is well made, has good fit and finish, nice interior, and a nice, smooth refined ride! Kudos to Chevy!
Also great to know that there are mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers that will swallow any lie that GM tells them.
Oh yeah, GM has paid every penny of its $49 billion loan - well, all except for about $42 billion of it - and the $6.9 billion they actually paid off? They paid it with ANOTHER loan!
It sure wasn't from selling those tin can imports that they call cars or the clumsy guzzling unsafe SUVs (ANOTHER lie from the Great Mistake).
They were profitable - by outsourcing. This otherwise wouldn't surprise me, except they used MY money to do it! Not a very good way to put American workers back on the line, huh.
Oh, and that "new" Camaro (based on a 40-year old design)? It's made in CANADA. ONLY in Canada. MORE American workers back on the job!
Thanks for lying to me Barry, and Wiseacre or whatever-the-fuck his name is. He's a traitor too, just like Barry.
While i was in China my aunt had this car... you won't believe how quite it is, you can barely hear any noise, but the quality is what you find in american cars all plastic interior
Way to go, Government Motors! Can't build anything people want, so you outsource another Gook failure and slap a bow tie on it! How long will this POS last on US roads - 40K? 50K miles? Hey, look at the last time you went to Daewoo for a car. The Le Mans? LOL!
If this is what the bailout bought us I want my money back. GM can go to Pyongyang for all I care. Half of what they sell isn't even made here anyway.
@USAon3 the new platform was in-house engineered by GM as a replacement for the Cobalt... and it is much different from the previous models of the Cruze . I'm not a GM guy but ConsumerGuide Automotive has already rated it well above class average. I'll take their word over yours anytime. Anyways, we'll have a better reading once it is in the marketplace and gains more attention.
I dont fucking like your opinion MR.

Some facts on the CRUZE
1. 4,500 AMERICANS work in Ohio to build Cruze
2. 600,000 built so far for world demand
3. 100,000 in USA as of May 5
4. 1 of ONLY 10 cars worldwide to exceed NHTSA new 5 star rating
5. 2,100 recalled (steering wheel) with ZERO accidents as of May 5 ( I will spell it out, that is .0035 of 1%)
6. Vol Recall (error on side of caution)

Zinizzle 1 year ago
@avengful Do you know how many times GM bashed it's competition? they ALWAYS DO, Take a look at the new Cruze commercials. And Toyota is still one of the BEST manufacturers along with HONDA taking the top spot. And their recalls WERE NOT IDENTIFIABLE, Look at all of GM and Chryslers recalls they have each year for an actual PROBLEM. Toyota just has a reputation to maintain.

this car is missing only two things
1st is AWD
2nd is bit more sporty version with good engine with more power
DjSuperSou1 1 year ago
sat in one..nice vehicle but not impressed. My 2003 Acura (with 98k miles) is still head and shoulders above in quality. The interior of the Cruze still feels cheap and the controls, buttons, and levers still lack the silkiness found in my Acura. I would suggest those interested in this vehicle look at a certified, pre-owned Acura or Honda; better deal, proven quality and reliability, and a kickass engine that doesn't quit!
alessandro1281 1 year ago
@alessandro1281 dude your acura is one class ahead of cruze
i think that cruze and all chevrolet cars will bring a new pricing level to all cars vendors on market. those cars are not bad at all. but the pricing is just crazy. from VW i will get polo for basic cruze. basic polo without anything, this car got a ac full electric and more!
DjSuperSou1 1 year ago
@avengful The Japanese will remain the best until something is actually done. And most UAW employees are ridiculously paid. Ford has gotten so good because they're using Japanese parts from it's subsidiary Mazda. And actually Lexus sales were up from last year, plus Toyota and Ford still sold the most. Any whom hopefully Toyota an correct this US issue, which they never faced in Japan.
Zinizzle 1 year ago
actually the styling will sell it for some
4C7X 1 year ago
@avengful EXACTLY, ''because they're made in the US'' they are trying to keep costs competitive yet build them in the US and hold their reputation, and still pay US wages. Plus US workers just don't take pride in their work, like back in the old days. Toyotas top rated vehicles are all out of Japan.

Then, they'll be worth my time to atleast give it a chance.
billp1980 1 year ago
@billp1980 the civic is an ugly piece of shit. Its not the benchmark.. The cobalt sells twice as many cars as honda does. I like honda but u gotta give GM some respect bro
WVCobalt1 1 year ago

Toyota corolla : $21.300
Chevrolet Cruze : $15.600
both fully loaded .
good luck toyota's fans ;)

@inserto1000 they will sell millions cause chevy is the NUMBER 1 COMPANY IN THE WORLD!!! You must drive some JAP piece of shit. @WVCobalt1 wtf? Toyota is the number 1 car seller in the world. stop being a fan boy.
zjumps33 1 year ago
@zjumps33 Sorry but your wrong. GM reclaimed that spot. Toyota had it for 3 months. And then they had all those recalls and people realized they were junk. You need to grow up and study things before you talk shit. Or maybe your one of those 21 year olds that think they know it all.. Grow up kid.. You call me a kid but Im sure Im older then your immature ass!
WVCobalt1 1 year ago
@WVCobalt1 Sure dont act mature keep calling by calling everyone a fucker or an ass or calling Japanese Japs. Show me where GM has reclaimed the spot. I cant seem to find GM being number 1 anymore. Nor do i see GM in the top 10 most reliable cars in 2010 according to Consumer Reports. Toyota is still in the top 10 with all those "recall" problems. 7 of the 10 are Japanese. So dont tell me Japanese cars are crap when professionals have rated them and you sir are no professional.
zjumps33 1 year ago
@zjumps33 Watch the news and you would know that GM is number 1 again. You cant say a car is reliable when its still new. Thats why I dont listen to consumer reports. And I dont hate Japanese cars. I owned 2 Nissans and an Accord. However, I still believe Chevy makes better cars now. They now make great cars that will last and arent overpriced like a Toyota or Honda. I drive a 06 Cobalt LS and it gets better gas mileage than a Civic or Corolla, it was $5k less, and its got more power.
WVCobalt1 1 year ago
@WVCobalt1 The Cobalt is a piece of shit. Even GM knows this. That's why it's being replaced with the Cruze.

Zinizzle 1 year ago
@WVCobalt1 Do you know how ignorant you sound? hahah The only reason why Toyota had recalls is because they are built more in the US then most of GMs vehicles. In terms of assembly and part content. And look at GMs reputation how many recalls they have every year that's an actual problem. Toyota issued a recall for UNIDENTIFIABLE acceleration. Which was a part made in the US.
Zinizzle 1 year ago
@Zinizzle Its still jap parts. I had one recall on my Cobalt and a guy I work with has had like 5 recalls on his piece of shit Corolla. Do the math. Or do I need to loan you a calculator to figure that out. My Cobalt gets the same gas mileage as a corolla, looks better, and its faster too. Simple choice
WVCobalt1 1 year ago
@WVCobalt1 Cobalts are JUNK even GM knows that. I am ashamed on how shitty the new Cruze is. When you get into a Toyota there is not a piece out of place or fits incorrectly, yet GM is the king of RATTLES AND SQUEAKS. You sound like a dumb union worker on drugs. No wonder why the US can't build a damn vehicle. The proof is in the reputation and the consumers, enough said!

Zinizzle 1 year ago
@Zinizzle I never said toyotas run bad. I know they last a long time. But you cant say chevy is junk just cause yours blew a gasket. All cars break bro. Mine runs great. Essentially German in nature... Opel that is.
trunitemare 1 year ago
@trunitemare
WRONG
This car is completely developed in Korea by Daewoo..
It's designed by Daewoo as GM claims but contrary to GM's claim that it's engineered in Germany, it's actually engineered in Korea too... Daewoo modified the Opel developed Delta I platform for the use in the Lacetti Premier back in 2008 and GM took this so called Global platform back to Germany, called it the Delta II and started using in other GM cars.. this car is Daewoo through and through... Sorry~
valkyrieXX 1 year ago
@valkyrieXX Ahhh.... NO.
So... Opel personnel design the cars and those cars get badged as different (GM) brands around the globe.
trunitemare 1 year ago
@trunitemare
Ahhhh... talking out of your ass, talking out of your ass...
You are talking to a person who was actaully was involved in the next genration Lacetti (J300) project in Korea... which was eventually named Lacetti Premier
Where in the heck does Wiki mention that Cruze was developed entirely in Korea? lol
the story that you are selling is what GM is selling to you clueless Americans to give impression that this car is actually German... lol
valkyrieXX 1 year ago
@valkyrieXX Homie! Idig that your involvement (if you say so) was in Incheon, South Korea. That would be where the Daewoo is located. I get that and if you read my comment more thoroughly, I said that that is where the J300 project was further developed into the Lacetti. But, the fact of the matter is that GM's claim is right, because this fuckin project is or was headquartered in Rüsselsheim, Germany (the Opel facility). And, I am not an American, plus I could give a shit less about the Curse.

This car is truly a Frankenstein monster: built with help from Germany, Australia, South Korea, China, Russia and India. I can't wait to see how badly it falls flat on its face when they compare it to the Civic or Corolla.
happy543210 1 year ago
@happy543210 It is designed in South Korea. The engine is of a German design, and will be built in America. In first hand experience, it is one of the strongest, most durable engine designs in the world. A little on the heavy side (Engine itself is a beast), but will give the Civic and Corolla a run for their money. I can't wait until the day when the Civic and Corolla fall flat on their face when they get compared to the Cruze.

ChickenC0re 1 year ago
@ChickenC0re "but will give the Civic and Corolla a run for their money." Probably for hte corolla but for the civic I HIGHLY doubt it. They are just going to release a new civic in 2012 which will AGAIN completely SMASH GM in their own game they are trying to play. They simply do not have as good of an engineering team as some of the other companies do. All they talk about is the interior but a turbo 1.4 isn't going to last for SHIT! wait for the recalls.
