The thing that friendship and chemistry does for a team is it compensates and makes up for the fact that the 2 players may have a different set of skills or understanding of how to play golf. Like how davis love (bomber and not a great putter) played with justin leonard (short hitter who can putt) for example. Also david toms (shorter accurate and better putting) and phil (bomber with little accuracy who struggles with putting and hitting greens).
I think the biggest problem with phil and tiger playing together is just that they approach the game in two completely different ways. Thats why they don't work together, it has nothing to do with them liking or not liking each other at all. It is completely based off the fact that tiger is a by the book kind of guy and phil is more of a fly by the seam of his pants and wing it kind of guy. Tiger does not wing it whatsoever when it comes to a round of golf and thats all that phil does.
Tiger and Phil are not matched for each other at all, wouldn't you be better off putting guys that were buddies together to you know actually have CHEMISTRY!? Just because jack and arnold played together doesn't mean lightning strikes twice. Anyway its good tiger found 2 others guys he can play with (Furyk and Stricker) and phil plays better with guys he can bring the best out of like AK, Mahan, and O'hair.

Point is, Tiger ought to be able to play with anybody they put in front of him, if he's a real professional.

I haven't really heard anybody accuse Sutton of being a serious brainiac--I'm talking about well before that Ryder Cup--and it did kinda look like the idea was to shake up the mix, come up with some wacky pairings and see what happened.

If you add 2ft on all sides to the hole, the hole becomes 4 1/2 feet in diameter. That's a LOT bigger.
