This so wonderful to see "the man" again. I never knew George in these earlier days so needless to say I am floored. George was quick with the wit and always ready with word or of knowledge. I am proud to say I knew him enough to love him. Miss you George.
I played drums for Big George in the Spring and summer of 1982. Still remember touring through Saskatchewan with He and Jean and Darcy Gopaul and Patti.
I love Canadians. I heard of this guy from Bill Pratt, talking about beer and guitar and he dropped Big George Moody. This guy really can tear it up. Cheers all you.
I used to play some harmonica with Big George way back in the early '70s, in Lethbridge, Alberta, when he had a band called the Nighthawks. He played "Flight of the Bumble Bee," "Yankee Doodle Dandy" backwards, and just about anything else. Quite the picker he was...
I want to thank those of u who posted these videos of my grandfather i never got the chance to meet him i only newethat he was amazing, To sit an watch these videos it makes me feel as if i was there as well so thnak u once again... kayla moody
@TheKaylamoody I just happened upon this video. He's great! I'd like to learn more about him. It's these old timers that set the stage for all that's come along since. You should be VERY PROUD to have this man as your Grandpa. Do you play?
I too moved with brother Buck from Aroostook County, Maine to Bangor, Maine. That's where I first met Big George. At the time I was too young to go in bars so I'd sit in the car next to the side door of "Sleepy's Silver Dollar" so I could watch Big George and Bucky play. What an amazing talent Big George had, unlike anyone I've met since. It was so great to see him again, even if only in old videos. Thanks "ZombiePatriot" for posting them. H.O. Webber.
I moved from Aroostook County in Maine back in 1967 to Bangor, Maine where I meet Goerge. We had rented an apartment togather for about a year until I went into the Army. We played at Sleepy's Silver Dollar Tavern in Bangor along with Dick Curless. This video brought back some fond memories of some of the tunes we shared when life was free wheeling. I hope you had a safe passage where ever you are George. B. Webber.
Skrivis was a word he used along with bloofus and a few other words. He really was an amazing guitar player as everyone can tell listening to this. I played with George in the early 80's when it was Big George and the Nighthawks. Enjoyed playing with the band and enjoyed travelling around the country. Thanks George. I wish I would have learned more while you you still on this earth. Hello to all fellow musicians that played with George... Always remembered.. Love Patti Lynn KEW
Big George Moody was my friend and mentor. As good as this video is it doesn't touch all he could do. Thanks for posting this. It's really important that people know him. He influenced and inspired many many musicians, we all owe him Big. In my studio there's a picture of him on the wall and I play the Tele' he gave me daily. Everyone of my students know who he is, I see to it. Thanks again...
@squirrelray1 keep on telling legend...I was Big Georges last drummer. although it was short (almost a year)...it was a wonderful experience and he was a friend. I wish too there were more info on him. He does need to be remembered.
Thank you! Ive been trying to find video of Big George Moody for so long. He is my great uncle and my family will be so excited when I show them this.
I worked with Big George and the Country Function from Canada Day 1975 until Labour Day that year. He was an amazing talent. This summer while I was at the Stampede I gave them all the memorabilia I had for their display. They have his old ES315 on display. Check him out.

Looks like Big George was pulling off these impossible riffs long before Brad Paisley came along.....and on a Peavey T-60! Hats off to Big George!
