i used to have a pet coon. we found him beside his mother on the side of a highway she was hit by a car and he was to young to survive on his own. we raised him for about 4 months untill he was big enughf to be on his own and released him about 3 miles from our house, 2 days later he was back.. he hung around untill the next winter.. we hope to see him agin some time. we called him bandit and he loved marshmellows..

@xXLoveAndDesireXx to legally keep them you have to have a permit. they are cute and cuddly until they get mature and other coons come into heat.. then they are mean as hell. i would only recomend raiseing one if the mother is dead. you dont want them to be dependent on humans.. try to feed them fish and clams so when you release them they go for wild food and are not knocking down trash cans

@damygeebo We rescued a raccoon about 8 years ago and my mom did the same thing, bottle fed her until she could walk and eventually we started letting her out at nights. She came back ever few days or so for a bite to eat, eventually stopped coming back. There was a family living in a butternut tree nearby their house for a few years after though. Very friendly and playful with their cats and people in general.
