  • I like 6:00

  • isn't 5 minutes a lil to long to watch this

  • Besides "the Salt and Pepper show" a.k.a. "the Static show" this is my favorite show and I catch it every time it's on.

  • i thought it was a warhol flick.

  • God how I loved this "show" as a kid -lol- (didn't care so much for the audio tho) I used to wear my "war feathers" and color on my Big Chief tablet waiting for cartoons to come on. I really did like this test pattern tho, it was comforting-with the volume down of coarse? Every once in awhile the late night talk shows will flash it in homage-I think they are paying it respect? God bless em. I know Im weird but here it goes - I Love You old Indian Head Test Pattern-We miss you!

  • Excellent quality - can you throw one up with (No Audio) please?

  • This came on in my local area sometimes at 5:55 am and saturdays around 7:00 when WATE aired"Action Theater",then other shows like"Astro Boy" could be seen.

Those were the Analog days!Brainy, brainman Media

  • "Hey,man, what you're watchin'?"

"It's this movie about Indians, but it's really boring!"

    "That's not a movie,man. That's a test pattern!"

    "A test pattern?! Far out!"

  • @cowellwannabe71

Still one of my favorite Cheech&Chong bits, right up there with "Dave's not here!"

  • @MsPandaRosa Im not goin to school-and why the hell not young man-cuz I got an earache---AN EARACHE! An earache my eye! How would you like a butt ache!!!

  • What was the meaning of this thing anyway? Bulldada at it's finest.

  • @olflatop It held the stations signal open while everyone who worked there were at home for the night. TV affiliates didnt really start going 24/7 until the mid 80's-thats when cable television really started kicking ass.

  • for some reason, this gave me a slight feeling of nausea.

  • lol @ 2:38

  • loooooooooooooooooool

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • This show really jumped the shark at the end of it's fourth season.

  • Yes,jumpybeaver!back then, the station i think was just upgrading to a newer transmitter and retired the old RCA unit and with it the Test Pattern Generator,TK-1C monoscope, which projected the image to the transmitter. They were made in Harrison,NJ.Brainy

  • Does anyone have a tape from the 70's when WATE aired the test pattern?Let me know! Brainy

  • @brainman214 umm...the only people with "tape" then were broadcasters, the ultrarich/and or elite...and who could forget>>>The Nixon White House?

  • This was the first program on every morning in the 1960's, i watched it alot.

  • I love this. It was like a mandala to me in the late 50s and early 60s. Thank you. Did you see the Wikipedia article on this?

  • In my local area,WATE in Knoxville,Channel 6,used this test pattern in the early days. Now that Digital replaced Analog, they did not need to air this again when switching to digital. Thanks for this classic TV Icon of the past.Brainy

  • @brainman214 You mean they used this one in the color days too?

  • as far as i can remember, until they switched from NBC to ABC,they dropped the Indian Head for Color Bars except late night when Bob Williams would then leave the old analog TX on to show a 1956 RETMA Chart instead then colorbars!

  • @brainman214 Oh okay. Because I was kind of wondering if there was a color version of this.

  • @Jumpybeaver Yep-I remember it well! They ran this badboy all the way up to the early 80's. Sometimes it was in color too/but mostly they stuck with the good old black n white version. After that it got replaced with the National Anthem and fighter jets flying in formation over a waving American flag background-then it was just color bars with the annoying BEAEAEAEAEAEAEAE alll frickin night. I loved this test pattern-sounds gooffy I know but its kind of a fun child hood memory. Peace!

  • @TheStaticage01 Naw, it doesn't sound goofy at all.

  • Lol funny. Was it enjoyable to you?

  • I remembered back in the 60's, when I was a Very Little Boy, waking up at 4:30 A.M., waking up to this noise, and seeing this screen, TRYING to go back to bed like a Scared Little Boy would. So I know how you felt about this way back when.

  • Thank you Analog Television for raising me back in the 70's.

  • @Jiltedin2007 ME TOO!!! I love you Analog indian head test pattern.

  • @TheStaticage01 Those were the days. Huh?

  • parabens...

    mudou minha vida

    congratulations

  • RIP Analog television.

  • wow. 5 minutes of that.

  • @MountainMonsters2

You have to have at least that to get the full effect.

    DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE INDIAN.

  • @MountainMonsters2 5 mins is childs play! This thing was like a lullaby for many of us-it went from 11:30 pm to 7 in the morning. There were no 24/7 channels then. 5mins is just a sample. This thing is worth A FULL 8HRS.

  • This is what you'd see, after they show The American Flag while playing The Star Spangled Banner. And that would be the annoying sound that you'd hear endlessly, while this Test Pattern would be left on the Television Station.

  • Bless you. This was my "mandala" as a child.
