@superchef78 Well theres "sub" genres of death metal including progessive/technical-(like this) your average death metal like vader, cannibal corpse etc. I love all of it equally BUT if i had 2 choose progessive/tech will always win because well death is amazing with other prog/tech like opeth, decapitated, suffocation etc.. Seriously theres so many good death metal bands that dont even get what they deserve as well i really hope when i start my own band we get some fans =)
@ChuckSchuldinerRIP0 "Since you obviously disrespect "Death" and you probably aren't aware that he even died" -- How is that disrespecting them (the band)? And I've been aware that he died for a while now. What makes you think I am/wouldn't be aware of that? To put what I'm saying into perspective, I have more respect for Death than any other death metal band, but I personally don't enjoy the chosen vocal style.
@superchef78 I exaggerated to prove my frustration with trolls, if trolls didn't have a conscious they wouldn't be alive. The only reason for me to argue with you was resolved, so I don't see any point. I respect you, I don't hate you.
Did you just listen to the vocals and completely miss the music? Good job sir. Death 'invented' the deathgrowl, as others have mentioned. If this is high pitch I suggest you get your hearing Chucked. Heh!
@nottobeseenguitarist I don't care. The vocals are high-pitched though. Most death metal is predominantly low-pitched (which seems to be the crux of the genre).
@superchef78 you dont get it though, there would be no such thing as death metal if it wasn't for death. and the vocals aren't high pitched, your deaf
@nottobeseenguitarist The irony of your post almost makes me chuckle. Learn to use grammar correctly. Please don't push the slippery slope argument about death metal, either (or at least some veiled and cleverly disguised equivalent). I'm almost certain that if Death had never existed, then at SOME point in time a sound equally redolent or similar would have been crafted by another band. There is little denying that evolution in musical genres tends to be gradual, rather than in large leaps.
you are a super douchebag, there is no equal to chuck. Death metal hasnt seen anyone as deadly as chuck since the day he died. rip. And judging by how much effort and pride you put into grammar you are without a doubt a huge doucher. if i knew who you were id hit you, and you would thank me for it later when you stopped being a little bitch, and became a man
@seanmac0 Of course there is no equal to Chuck. That is a tantamount to saying "There is no equal to George Fisher", etc. As far as the backhanded ad hominem remark, coupled with the statement about my grammar, grammar is not something I intentionally am correct at myself. It is something I consciously follow because I naturally (and luckily) have a more-than-firm grasp on the English language. If you are going to try to form an argument for or against something, you should use correct grammar.
@superchef78 You're obviously more insightful and intuitive and have "better grammar" then "seanmac0", but you don't need to be contemptuous towards someone who has a lower IQ then you, that shows your inflated-ego
@seanmac0 You give a good argument, "Without Death there would be no Death Metal" even though what "supercheg78" said is more logical "Even if Death didn't exist or became popular in the Extreme Metal genre, a band would have still become popular that would be the same as Death."
@superchef78 Well, I completely agree with you, if some sort of "advice" or "factual information", is brought forth in a very "sophisticated" manner, then it's "easier" to believe.
Well from how you were acting towards "seanmac0", yeah dude that's contemptuous. I read your both of your comments and his comments. You guys are both correct but in a different "manner", and you're "statement" is more logical then his. I'm actually agreeing with you the most.
@ChuckSchuldinerRIP0 I do admit my tone can sound contemptuous at times. On a side note, seanmac0 was incidentally the first to arouse any contemptible content to the discussion (from what I can see; but then again, I'm short-sighted) with his backhanded ad hominem remarks ("...stopped being a little bitch..."; "you are a super douchebag").
@ChuckSchuldinerRIP0 Also please note when I made the remark in regards to 'another band crafting a sound similar to Death's at some point in time" I was not doing so in an attempt to detract or otherwise ridicule Death's reputation as 'the creators' of the genre, I was merely using it to reinforce a plausible truth and not overstate (as many do) their important. They are an important band though, admittedly(and I do not believe any reasonable listener can deny that).
@superchef78 Depending on what type of personality one has, it's human nature to be contemptuous to someone else who is really pissing oneself off.
I'm very solemn, I don't just ignore people who are too close-minded, and I really need to stop reading YouTube comments. YouTube seems to be the "breeding ground" for bigotry, and intolerance.
I knew that you weren't "attacking" Death, even though I love Death, they didn't "create" Death Metal( I'm ignorant of Old School Death Metal).
@ChuckSchuldinerRIP0 I have a markedly ancient propensity to respond to comments that reap intolerance and "close-mindedness" in and of themselves, which is a double-edge sword. Even then, the anonymity proffered through the Internet seems to be a double-edged sword, one could argue.
@superchef78 I was that same way when I was 13, and younger, I'm being a hypocrite since I was once really ignorant, and intolerant of everything. It just annoys me when I see adults act how I was acting when I wasn't even a teenager. People over the age of 18, and calling other people cliche slurs as a form of comeback, and the bigotry of so called "metalheads" on YouTube is astounding. People don't even act like this in real life, they keep their intolerance, and ignorance to themselves.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-- i found out that i loved this band. when skating home from parties shitfaced. plus i live in mountains so trecherouse hills werent a problem while listening to DEATH the best death metal band of all time............
Symbolic, individual thought patterns, and the sound of persreverence is my favorite, the riffs are all in the right place and the lyrics have somthing to say with multiple meaning to different people. I only wish I could have asked him what he meant in every song.
Bobby Koelble was the best soloist death had. So underrated (probably because he's kept such a low-profile). Shannon Hamm was average in death, but I've listened to his playing in other bands he's been in and it was much better.
@thebigcheese1100 yea ima gonna start learning some death it doesnt sound that hard which is really creative in a way how some things are so easy yet nobody has wrote them
This is one of chucks best pieces of work, I fucking love the guitar holy hell do i ever feel emotion surge through my body during that solo epsiecally holy fuckign hell this song is fuckign awesome.
by far MY favorite death album and song, and yes death is chuck, chuck is death...he puts the best in his band, and death is the best because of the superior skills that chuck has...ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY DEATH...R.I.P. CHUCK!
I dont care about the rest of the band it changed to many times it was all Chuck that made Death, Death although Gene was BY FAR my fav drummer he ever had
Gene Hoglan, and Bobby Koelble on this album are definitely better musicians than Bill Andrews and Terry Butler who Chuck teamed up with on earlier albums.
Especially as far as drums are concerned, Bill Andrews is not really in the same league with Gene Hoglan.
@faggotmutilator666 Yes I am familiar with From Beyond, that is a cool album, but still not a fan of his drumming. I am not a drummer myself, but I know what I like to listen to, and Lombardo would have to be my favourite metal drummer, Hoglan is up there though.
@faggotmutilator666 AHH massacre , i used to marvel at the graphics on those L.P,s (!) .... I detest c.d,s. Who was the vocalist again ? a Rick Rozz ? Talk about serious grunting ,eh . But the point is excactly what you said , even the(in the lack of better word ),, offspins ,, of DEATH were great .
@pcrvg0808 Kam Lee was vocals with massacre "Heeeeeeeeyyyyyy" Rick Rozz was lead guitar in massacre and on deaths leprosy album. And both are awesome in their own right.Saw them in amsterdoodledam AWESOME !
@pcrvg0808 I dont actually remember i'd just finished a promotional tour with Benediction that night and I was kinda wasted after driving across germany and austria in 5 days.
@comedybenj dude, I agree! IMAO Leprosy and Individual Thought Patterns (which I consider the last album of "old" death) are most amazing albums recorded by this great band.
@03041976001 please go on. Bobby and Gene were also far superior from the losers that Chuck hired later (talkin about Christy and Hamm). Bobby's unorthodox Jazz playing is mind blowing. Especially here at 2:50+....
@03041976001 Andrews was okay for basic death metal. He was a really catchy drummer in Death, but of course Hoglan is way beyond him. I still think Death's best drummer was Sean Reinert.
I hate the fact that the beginning at 1:26 chorus is played only one during the song, I love that chorus so much I just stopped listening to it because it was too painful to me to listen to it only once
This album is a milestone in the history of Music. For me it is the competest death album. Brutal, technique and melodical and aggression...very close follows the sound of perseverance....
@enigmalinsanity i hear you on that one brutha!! Death is amazing...or was...good thing there is some good new bands still. Check out Revocation....those guys are amazing...or Daath is really good too. I've been listening to a lot of those bands recently...they are pretty sick!
Art in a highest form.
Thank you for the power, Mr. Schuldiner.

Why do they call this 'death metal' if the vocals are so high-pitched? Death metal is low-pitched growls, not high pitched shriek types like this.

R.I.P. Chuck
The1234doe 1 year ago
@The1234doe If that freaked you out, you need to listen to more music. Pretty basic riff.

@m1ghtysauc3 Well...I was caught off-guard when I first listened to the riff...but eventually I grew to love it.

I dont care about the rest of the band it changed to many times it was all Chuck that made Death, Death although Gene was BY FAR my fav drummer he ever had

I have always liked Chuck's vocal. Distorted yet somewhat clean.

how can you not like DEATH? Although this is my least personal favorite album it still crushes alot of shit today. 2:06
Lastmanonearth 1 year ago
@yourmom468 the scales are the same if you ear accuratly, i can play both and they are very similar
lupolugo96 1 year ago
Gene Hoglan, and Bobby Koelble on this album are definitely better musicians than Bill Andrews and Terry Butler who Chuck teamed up with on earlier albums.
Especially as far as drums are concerned, Bill Andrews is not really in the same league with Gene Hoglan.
03041976001 1 year ago 24
@03041976001 Bill Andrews was awesome on Massacre's "From Beyond" and "Inhuman Condition", though...
faggotmutilator666 1 year ago 5
@faggotmutilator666 Yes I am familiar with From Beyond, that is a cool album, but still not a fan of his drumming. I am not a drummer myself, but I know what I like to listen to, and Lombardo would have to be my favourite metal drummer, Hoglan is up there though.
03041976001 1 year ago
@faggotmutilator666 AHH massacre , i used to marvel at the graphics on those L.P,s (!) .... I detest c.d,s. Who was the vocalist again ? a Rick Rozz ? Talk about serious grunting ,eh . But the point is excactly what you said , even the(in the lack of better word ),, offspins ,, of DEATH were great .
pcrvg0808 1 year ago
@pcrvg0808 Kam Lee was vocals with massacre "Heeeeeeeeyyyyyy" Rick Rozz was lead guitar in massacre and on deaths leprosy album. And both are awesome in their own right.Saw them in amsterdoodledam AWESOME !

@faggotmutilator666 As far as I'm concerned, they were awsome on Spiritual Healing as well...

@fourtoeight Damn right, Spiritual healing is one of my favourite death albums and songs actually
BodomTranquilityWorm 11 months ago
@faggotmutilator666 early death was the best what are you on about? plus why is everybody hating on early death?!?!?!?!
comedybenj 10 months ago
@comedybenj dude, I agree! IMAO Leprosy and Individual Thought Patterns (which I consider the last album of "old" death) are most amazing albums recorded by this great band.
Greatings.
kumor667 10 months ago
@kumor667 actually the first three and spiritual healing was the end of old school death.

@03041976001 please go on. Bobby and Gene were also far superior from the losers that Chuck hired later (talkin about Christy and Hamm). Bobby's unorthodox Jazz playing is mind blowing. Especially here at 2:50+....
PoulChuck 1 year ago
@PoulChuck yes mate, I agree, it's a pity he didn't make more albums with Bobby and Gene!
03041976001 1 year ago
@03041976001 Andrews was okay for basic death metal. He was a really catchy drummer in Death, but of course Hoglan is way beyond him. I still think Death's best drummer was Sean Reinert.
rsman169 1 year ago
@rsman169 Sean Reinert was okay but Richard rules.
OldVoulf 1 year ago
@OldVoulf Richard is really an innovator I'll agree with that. He is pretty sloppy live sometimes though.
rsman169 1 year ago
@rsman169 both had their own style you cant compare they are what they are

I hate the fact that the beginning at 1:26 chorus is played only one during the song, I love that chorus so much I just stopped listening to it because it was too painful to me to listen to it only once

This album is a milestone in the history of Music. For me it is the competest death album. Brutal, technique and melodical and aggression...very close follows the sound of perseverance....
