  • only a brain dead moroon would dislike the music from the 50,s and 60,s 70,s 80,s. And call the garabge called music now if you can call it that better than the above I dont,t think so. The people who dislike the above dont,t know what class and elgance is and never will. And what a true and gifted artist is because they dont,t have the brain cell,s to do it with

  • jan 10, 2011..... pure enchantment, the Legends have captured my soul... Doo Wop -- the incredible blending of these voices - and to see them still hitting the high notes, doing the steps and as Jerry Butler said - it was the bass voice that set the music out on the street corners... I hope that the doo wop songs will call to all souls and just lift their hearts and be eternally as magical as it is and has been. Thank you YOU TUBE!!!

  • es una de mis canciones favoritas

  • Tony OWNS this song!!! Fan-freakin'-TASTIC!!!

  • I'm having a problem here, and it's not the music, it's fantastic!! He's to young to be an original member of the passions, and is Gallagher related to Johnny Maestro, or is that Maestro, god rest his sole? the first part of this equation, I'm referring to Tony P. and yes, he has a great set of tonsils, just to young

  • @bigbilldoh

who are you talking about ? Tony Was The Original Lead Of The Fascinators Jimmy Gallagher From The Passions Is On The Left Doing First Tenor. And Is Not Related To Johnny Maestro. I Think You May Have Some Groups Mixed Up..By The Way Tony Is 70 Years Old So There Goes Your Too Young Theory

    All My Bass To You

    Steve Horn

  • I agree with the Label...Norman Fox with

Dream Girl was another killer song on

the same label, it also went nowhere

  • No one can sing this song like Tony...Thanks for posting

  • Wonderful to hear this-

shouldv'e been a huge hit in the day. Wasn't promoted right- Capital was never a doo wop label-

imagine his excitement to get signed on a big label like that only to have this go nowhere

  • johnny gives this a big thumbs up!

  • Thanks for posting this song salazar 1940. Are these guys still performing together/? I remember seeing them on a PBS Doo Wop Special awhile back.

  • Yes, they perform all over Florida. I saw them in Oct. and again a few weeks ago. Jimmy Gallagher is not with them anymore, though.

  • Thanks for the info. Too bad Jimmy isn't with them. I bet they still put on a good show.

  • I dedicate this song to the love of my life! With all my love to you Tony!

  • I'm 17 and I love doo wop, is that so wrong lol. Listening to frank zappa got me into it.

  • Was it WPLJ that did it?

  • rock on guy's

  • Yes! This is my papa! (:

    He is doing very well!

  • I saw him last Fall in Florida twice. He still sounds GREAT!!

  • He's awesome. The Legends stole the show and my heart. <3

  • Are you dancing folks, 'cause i am...for sure . Hit it Tony!!!

  • I have Tommys CD, its a great CD, I love Tommy, he has a good voice, but it bothers me that he insists on top billing. You gotta remember he was 5 yrs old when Jimmy Gallagher and the Passions were singing Just to be with You. LOL

  • These guys should have stayed together,Jimmy left and was replaced by Tommy Mara (no hits, no record) who is good, but he's not a hit maker. Jimmy, Steve, Frank and Tony......always.

  • Actually Tony left,Tommy came,Tony returned,Jimmy left.

  • and does a cd count as a record? From the Heart by Tommy and the Saints is pretty good!

I saw the Legends a number of times, and they were always great together, too bad it worked out this way..

  • It just doesn't get any better than this

  • These guys are kicking behinds and taking names !!!!! Wow, Wow, Wow, can I get amen? This is pure doo wop at its finest. Makes me want to get up and do the swim , boog a loo, the horse, stroll, oh my goodness call the ambulance I cant stop!!!!!

  • They do & can kick ass, when it comes to the original stuff, keep it moving

  • Hey dad ..

    This is soooooo awsome

  • this will live on forever

  • Pero que belleza mas excelsa *-* Puedo conseguir esto en DVD???

  • Just proves I was right all along..! Doo-Wop Will never die!

  • Only Great !!! Thx for posting !

  • GOD BLESS DOO WOP !!!!!!!!!!

  • God has blessed 'Doo Wop' because much

of it is performed 'Acapella' which means literally

'from the Chapel' [but in a modern sense means without instruments].

The message found in many tunes is that of a pure simple love, uncontaminated and not perverted by our present selfish, narcissistic culture which has deviated from and taken a

    wrong turn from 'Do Wop'.

  • Wonderful song

    Thanks for posting

    Love & Hugs

    Rosemarie

  • The foundation for the crap we have to listen too today.

  • One of the best songs ever.. Doo wop will never die

  • I don't know how I missed this song growing up. It's really great. Great performance

  • Doo Wop is GREAT and'll never die !!!

  • heck lets just enjoy the music i love doowop but every era has its classics lets enjoy the music for its own sake

  • dowapman is talking out of his/her arse the beatles ran for over 10 years.

  • Come on folks.Stop your nonsens.Listen to old R&R. Thre´re to many politcal and racists problems around the world.Dont let it be also in music please.

  • Comment removed

  • not true.akcoins'. i played in some of those doo whop groups.and the Beatles.got there start copying.doo whop remember that.there is no other music then the doo whops.all music links.back to it.and rap is for people who cant sing.please

  • The Beatles were more into skiffle, blues, and rock and roll than doo wop. The link goes further back than doo wop. Sorry you can't appreciate the few rap song out there that are good.

  • The Beatles and Mc Cartney dominated the charts in the 60s , if you want to make a comparison than you have to make it with the artist who dominated the charts in the 50s Elvis not any single doo wap group His concerts had 3 to 80 yr olds as well SO WHAT It doesn't change the fact that the beatles sound is DEAD . Even Mc Cartney doesn't sound like the beatles unless he sings a beatles song. If the stones came over first no one would ever have heard of the beatles . Stones were always #1 in UK

  • Elvis was not doo wop. He was rock and roll, ie: The King. They just announced that George is getting a star on the walk of fame. Paul had a huge concert a few months ago on HBO. If you had McCartney, doing a concert, and 3 or 4 doo wop groups doing one, the McCartney concert would have far more people attending that the other. The British invasion had room for all the groups, not just the Stones. You are really just showing your ignorance by making the statement that the Beatles sound is dead.

  • I am truly sorry, when you used the word Skiffle I thought I was talking to someone who understood music, its roots and its sounds. Let me guess , you were a teenager when the bettles made it, didn't mean to get you so upset ----- Thank God for the Beatles ----- and l 'll let you get back to your Rap music . Oh and thank you for explaining to me that Elvis was rock & roll

  • I saw "The Legends" in Fort Myers, Florida last night...awesome!!!!

  • A MASTERPIECE !

  • een zeer mooi nummer prachtig live gezongen

  • I saw them last night I was 16 all over again!! go see them

    Eileen Cohen

  • awesome stuff =]

  • FREAKIN AWESOME. That's my comment.

  • right no need to compare doo wop to the beatles its all good

  • Amazing harmony and sound, thanks for posting, my first time to hear it!

  • Chill run down my spine and goose bumps all over. What has become of todays music? When did pure sweet lyrics like this stop caressing our very soul? Excellent sound! Long live Doo Wop!

  • when it started to become more and more about money.

  • your right. this music will always live on, and thanks to all who post on youtube, so we can all lisen, and for a while, go back to a quiter place and time! lonelystreet

  • Wow! Great Guys thanks for the memories!

  • These guys aren't even in the same category as the beatles. I've never heard this song before, but i really like it. The beatles were not only musicians, but they wrote 95% of their hits. These guys had great voices, but didn't have the talent of the beatles. I love doo wop,but there is just no comparing.

  • No reason to compare them to the Beatles. They are great in their own right. Back then, most groups did not play and write their own songs. They were hired for their vocal talent.

  • beatles couldnt hold any the 1950 groups jockstraps..the beatles covered their vocal weaknesses by their guitars..the british music is old skiffle music and whatever wasnt it was copies of old american originals..dont even compare beatles junk with american classic 50s oldies

  • I agree that 50's music is great, but for talent the groups can't compare to the Beatles.

The Beatles wrote most of their hits and played instruments. If you actually listened to their music you might change your mind. You appear to be stuck in the past.Even Rap has some good songs. Granted most of the stuff today is crap. You just have to be willing to listen with an open mind. The Beatles changed the face of music for the better. Don't be an old fart. Be open to new things.

  • yaeh thats why the beatles had a life span of 4 years and dion and the belmonts are still playing, johnny mastro, and many more. who listens to beatles today. I own a recording studio in N.Y. and have seen music change many many times . far more people listen to doo wap today than beatles.

  • The Beatles broke up, has nothing to do with their longevity. You watch a McCartney concert on tv and you will see people from 10 to 70 there. You watch a doo wop concert and the people are my age or older. Groups over the last 40 years said that the Beatles were a big influence on them. Everybody listens to the Beatles. Beatles changed the face of music, and still are through the bands that they have influenced. You must not get out of that recording studio to often.

  • the beatles had there own sound it died when they broke up. Who influenced them has nothing to do with their sound. The stones were influenced by the same early bands and there sound was totally different . They made an impact on music because they created a different sound, and at a time when the music was ready for a change. Every generation needs its own sound not that of there moms and dads. The bands today may have been influenced by them but that doesn't mean they sound like them.

  • What a treasure!!! Thank you!

  • doo wop for ever

  • This version is better than the original by the Fascinators. With Jimmy G, of the Passions, what can be bad. Great sound. Tony's voice is better than ever. Why can't this group record and appear together.

  • They do appear. I just saw them a month ago in Florida. Jimmy was not with them. He is going to work with the Passions again. Tony, who had retired, was back to replace Jimmy. So it is now Tony, Frank Mancuso, Steve Horn and Tommy Mara (who replaced Tony a while back).

  • Italian DOO WOP at its best!!!!

  • You may keep those 4 Beatles, I prefer these real talents!

  • Whats a beetle?lmao

  • one of the best songs ever..

    Adde

  • Just fantastic!!

  • Tony still has it. awesome performance

  • FANTASTIC!!!! GREAT!!!

  • east coast italian doo wop...pure heaven !!!!!

  • Gentlemen, this is a masterpiece !!!

  • It really doesn't get much better than this to sit back and watch these videos! I bought a 45 back in the mid 70s on Capital Label, Chapel Bells - Fasinators. I never in a million years ever dreamed that one day I would actually see Tony singing this in person! Not too mention along with Jimmy Gallagher & Frank! AMAZING!

  • Great song. Still want to see video of Tony singing "Who do you think you are".

  • still FANTASTIC!!! A MASTERPIECE!!!

  • Gosse bumps plus.... How Cool is this sound? Well done & thanks for the clip dwg

  • Great Doo-Wop!!!Takes me back to the Glory Days!

  • Rose Marie, did she ever think that her name would be associated with Doo-Wop, the greatest sounding music to one's ear?

  • I don't mind the names.This is a FANTASTIC video of some legendary singers.Let's add 10 stars!!

  • Why is everybody debating? Its deff. Tony Passalaqua, I know for sure, been in love with him forever.

  • Yes! It is Tony Passalaqua, I would definitely know, he's my Papa (Mom's dad).

  • Jimmy Gallagher can sound really nasal and flat now. Tommy Marra stinks

  • Amen to that...The Legends should get on their hands & knees to get Tony back...otherwise they should change there name to the Has Beens

  • This guys Is TONY PASQUERELLI he can still sing...Was with the fascinators...he is good

  • I agree, but Tony's last name is Passalaqua.Great song-he sounds better than he did when he was a kid.

  • I have the biggest crush on Tony...mmmm...

  • THANKS, WHAT A GREAT SOUND!

  • Just great thanks

  • Saw this show, I like it :)

  • Just went to see the Legends of DooWop in Boca Raton Florida. They were terrible! They sure miss Tony P.

This new Tony from the "new Crests" can't sing a lick. I was also surprised that Jimmy Gallagher , one of my favorite singers from my favorite doo wop group, the Passions, sounded really bad. I can blame the blarring acoustics but Kenny Vance and Johnny Mastro of the Brooklyn Bridge sounded terrific.

We all get older and lose a bit , I guess

I guess we all get older and lose

  • Its not Tony its Tommy Mara who is from "The Crests"....Tommy has a really good voice, but I'm still trying to figure out why their billed Tommy and the Legends of Doowop. He never, never, ever had a hit record, he wasn't but a very young child 2 or 4 when these guys were recording. Tommy has a great voice, maybe the mix of the group isn't his thing....he was good with his original group The Saints, then he bought the rights to The Crests, he's a local fellow who is loved here locally.

  • the best just the best.wow its better than the first record.thank you very much.

  • These guys stole my heart at this concert! I LOVE this song!!! Great performance from an incredible concert!!!

  • Hi Anita - Which one of the PBS concerts was this? And, did they do any other songs? Best regards, Joe

  • DooWop at 50. (Avail at Amazon Marketplace)"Guardian Angel" lead by gent who's singing bass on "Rosemarie" and "Just to Be With You" from the Passions' lead (I believe). The Legends aren't the biggest names with the biggest songs in this line up, but sheesh, they stood out which is quite impressive on this stage! Just love them! Doo Wop LIVES!!!!

  • Anita,

OMG this lineup is some of the true legends of New York Doo Wop. Jimmy Gallahger "The Passions", Tony Passalaqua "The Fascinators", Frank Mancuso "The Imaginations",and Steve Horn "The Five Sharks". I believe Tony has left the group to reform the "Fascinators". I love Jimmy and Frank, both huge talents, but Tony Passalaqua is my favorite. He could have had a huge career, Las Vegas style headliner.

  • Thanks so much! Great info! I know the music, but but not the names/groups. Well, that 'splains lots! They own the stage! Clearly "born in a truck" as they say. Thanks again!

  • Many thanks to you Anita and the other responses for this information. Now, if we could get this group for one of the New York City area oldies concerts.....

  • I can remember hearing Tony when I was growing up.When I heard this recording it gave me many great memories, as he is my Uncle Tony and I had the pleasure of hearing him and his bands through the years in Long Island and Florida.

  • Does anyone know where/when this video was made?

And, is Tony still with the group?

  • this video was made in 2005, Tony is now back with his original group the Facintors. he is now residing in Florida

  • I saw the group in November 08, and Tony was back with them. He sang this and Chapel Bells. Jimmy Gallagher, however, was not there. He is going to do some work with the Passions. The lineup I saw was Tony, Steve Horn, Frank Mancuso, and Tommy Mara.

  • UNBELIEVABLE THIS SONG. This is the first remake that is 10 times better than the original!Gentlemen this is a masterpiece which I like to see everyday a few times!

  • Tony Passalaqua, has a great voice, he sounds a lot like the late great Frankie Lane, who in his young days was unbeatable.

  • I just found a CD called Legends of DooWop...2000. 19 songs statrting with 'Rosemarie'. Are all these songs by the Legends of Doowop WITH Tony P. ?

  • That sounds like the CD I have, although mine does not have "2000" on it. Go on the Legends of Doo Wop web site. You can see the CD's they have for sale. Mine also has 19 songs, beginning with Rose Marie. Yes, they're all done by the Legends on that CD. My favorite is "Who do you think you Are" and also "Chapel Bells". They're also both sung by Tony. Fabulous CD

  • Thanks, frinbl! MUST be the same one!Out of stock, so they will let me know when they have it.

  • It is on the Legends Of Doo Wop CD

with Tony singing it. Am not sure where you can get it = maybe on Ebay. I got it at one of their concerts. MY FAVORITE CD!

  • Thanks! I'll look for it! If you find it, let me know!

  • I reviewed that. Doesn't have 'Rosemarie' on it.I liked a couple of the songs...those that are very upbeat.

  • the roomates do a great version check it out

  • Thanks...I'll ck'd them out!

  • Rosemarie is on the album called the classic sounds of the Roomates on ACE some other good tunes on the album

  • a great pleasure to hear a group from which a later show sounds better than the original 45. FANTASTIC !

  • I understand that Tony has reformed The Fascinators, can't wait to see him on stage again......Legends of Doowop v The Fascinators

I just love his "Oh Rosemarie"....can't wait to see Tony on stage again, a great voice. Great guy.

  • I was so disappointed when he left the Legends of Doo Wop;however, if he is re-forming the Fascinators, how exciting will that be! This is my favorite song that he sings and I think that he is one sexy man..from an oldie.

  • Ha, I'm with you on that one, got a chance to meet him in person....he's a real cutie, and a real nice fellow as are Jimmy/Steve and Frank. A Bronx, NY gal.

  • you must hear "paper boy"..tony was t
