  • Next time I'll make a 3 hour recording just for you !!

  • video goes to short.

  • It shows the speed at the beginning. 588mph.

  • Couldn't you get a speed read-out on the TomTom?

  • It was a Boeing 757 from Boston to Manchester and was filmed just before flying over Ireland.

  • What kind of plane was this?

  • did sombudy bust you?

  • What version is this GPS is on?

  • 588 mph

  • "no route planned" Soundslike Osama Air

  • hahahahahahahah dud thats so funy

  • Hi all, I work for TomTom in Netherlands. We have an in-flight mode to make devices LEGAL to use in aircraft which disables GPS. However it is scientific belief that GPS chips can in NO WAY damage or affect plane systems...It is complete nonsense and over-caution by the aircraft companies.

  • Why do you need to disable the GPS if it is simply a receiver? It does not transmit anything like cellular phones or satellite phones.

A GPS receiver is as harmful as your video camera.

  • Yup but how do i put this... American Airlines are run by very stupid people... and equally stupid european people copy these very stupid people :p. You are right the GPS receiver isn't harmful in any way as i commented.

  • Are you sure? genius!!

  • Totally sure,,, I was coming back from the USA and decided to see if it would work.... and it did.

  • Why don't you do some research before you post ignorant, misinformed comments such as this and your previous.

    Thanks.

  • It`s stupid cause bt rad. can damage the plane comunication sistems.

  • No it can't.

    Moronic comment.

  • Thanks sleek, I agree. The BT was switched off so there is no radiation whatsoever. This is why people like psvania just come over with a generalised view that anything electronic carried by a passenger will cause the plane to crash duhhhhh

  • It honestly wouldn't have mattered anyway. On any given flight there are multiple people who have forgotten or neglected to turn their phones or any other device with BT off.

I, too, have used my TomTom on a flight and I think my maximum speed that I saw coming back from Frankfurt to Dulles was ~540mph. I didn't have it on for more than 5 minutes at a time though.

  • @dandybear1

bluetooth wouldnt harm anything. Unless somehow you rigged a bomb to repond to bt command but thats different.

  • Hi there is no radiation as BT is switched off as per requirement !

  • haha lol

  • my tomtom never catch any satalites on the plane. not even inside a train, dunno why. :(

  • Hey !!! Nice idea !!! Lol...

  • lol, u should of put in a destination and hear the directions it gives, lol

  • It wouldnt let me do that as it kept on trying to find a road, and kept reloading itself over and over, so I just put it in normal view mode.

  • lol cool

  • Haha nice.
