@Helonization Oddly enough I loaded D2 LOD back up over the weekend, just for a little nostalgia kick - and you're right. D3 is a completely different game, not even the spirit of D2 is there, at least just viewing all the beta playthroughs. Disappointing.

this game looks good however judging by this video it doesn't capture the same dark fantasy style like diablo 1 & 2 did. The music seems more action oriented than creepy and i don't see why the enemies would explode like that and not just get chopped and bashed into pieces. Although the rest of the game looks/sounds more 'diablo' than than diablo 3, its the little things that make the difference as to whether this game is worthy of being compared with diablo 1 and 2. Good action rpg though...
This game has the danger of being too similar to the games already made. TQ was special in the sense it allows players to fight mythological monsters, not a lot of games had done that b4, with the exception of Age of Mythology. But this game, donno, looks too similar to D3. Zombies, dead bodies rising...etc. Risky project

@Edge9404 Diablo > Titan Quest. Don't get me wrong, I really like titan quest, but when it comes down to it, it's attempting to minic diablos mechanics (diablo clone) like so many others. I'll post a few reasons why I personally feel Diablo is better in almost every aspect as my comment exceeds the 500 character limit.
@earhear . 1) Item mechanics.. Diablo > TQ. 2) End of game content - So So much better in Diablo 1 or 2 than in TQ. 3) Skills - Diablo 1 and TQ are pretty even, but Diablo 2 revolutionized skill trees with synergizing skills allowing near unlimited unique builds. 4) Overall balance and presentation Diablo (2 especially) absolutely crushes in this department.
My authenticator started not syncing up well to my account and quite frequently I couldn't even log on to my own account. I'd have to call up Blizzard, they'd reset my authenticator or whatever, and that would make it okay for a week or so. Too much hassle, and Blizzard is too greedy. I'll check out this and TP2. /rant
@devinescence Your error was becoming involed with WoW in the first place. I've only played the Diablo games, and I think they're great as well. If you still enjoy MMOs, I strongly suggest looking at GuildWars 2.
So I think Diablo 3 will be a great game. However, I really can't support Blizzard any more after WoW and Starcraft 2. WoW was a great game, and I spent WAY more time than I care to admit playing it, but they milked the crap out of it. People were spending real money to buy pets, mounts, authenticators, and who knows what else. Money to change your name, race, faction, server. Money per month. Money for the game. Money for each expansion. SC2 didn't even hold my interest very long.

My authenticator started not syncing up well to my account and quite frequently I couldn't even log on to my own account. I'd have to call up Blizzard, they'd reset my authenticator or whatever, and that would make it okay for a week or so. Too much hassle, and Blizzard is too greedy. I'll check out this and TP2. /rant

@devinescence Your error was becoming involed with WoW in the first place. I've only played the Diablo games, and I think they're great as well. If you still enjoy MMOs, I strongly suggest looking at GuildWars 2.

So I think Diablo 3 will be a great game. However, I really can't support Blizzard any more after WoW and Starcraft 2. WoW was a great game, and I spent WAY more time than I care to admit playing it, but they milked the crap out of it. People were spending real money to buy pets, mounts, authenticators, and who knows what else. Money to change your name, race, faction, server. Money per month. Money for the game. Money for each expansion. SC2 didn't even hold my interest very long.

@nazaxprime To be honest bud, the only reason I even replied to this video was because someone ignorantly claimed that a game with only online modes and no modding was immediately a game that would suck, and that's just not true regardless of who makes it. The things that make a game suck are poor gameplay choices, poor design flaws and bugs and none of that has anything to do with an online-only mode and modding. I'm no Blizzard mega-fanboy, but I have to give props where they are due.

@kungisans You're claiming that Grim Dawn will be a win compared to D3 simply because it has an offline mode, despite it not having modding just like D3. That is the only difference between D3 and Grim Dawn's core game functions. By your logic that makes every full-MMO a fail compared to any single player game ever made, which is clearly nonsense.

@TheM4upa It's sad that the ActivisionBlizzard doesn't see that ALOT of people don't have acess to the internet 24/7 and that people like to play games on the road/ship/plane and they are punishing paying costumers while pirates will ofcourse play get a cracked version and will enjoy it offline and someone will find a way to create private server for online play some day (see: WoW).
How hard is it to create a separate save slot for offline only players who don't give a shit about MMO Diablo.

Simply stating that having no modability and having only online modes gives a game a low replay value is simply a flawed argument, otherwise people would get to say the top level in an MMO like World of Warcraft and then never play the game again.

Your comparisons are flawed. MMO =/= standalone games.
If you consider games that requires you to be on an internet at all times is a source to have fun. Feel free. Simply because you have an internet connection doesn't mean others may have it to enjoy games that essentially needs you to be connected at all times.
Thus if you do not have an internet, then the game simply lost its replay value; due to the fact that you could not even play it.

We're comparing games with similar stances on the way they are played. MMOs typically are online only, have very little modding done to them aside from UI tweaks and addons, and are supported heavily by their developers. Diablo 3 will inevitably be the same. What you seem to be arguing now is that not everyone will be able to play D3 compared to Grim Dawn, and that's true, but that doesn't make the D3 game any less good.

Replay value is how much a game can be played over and over again after the first play-through, that has NOTHING to do with what you're arguing. You're arguing that the game isn't immediately available to everyone because it has internet requirements and that THAT somehow makes it a bad game. Having internet modes as a primary gameplay mode in fact will give the game MORE replay value!

By not having the internet, you wont play it at all, which means replay value for you isn't even an issue because you wont be playing it at all.
