Why is it "uncool", "bad behavior" to shoo away some random creep that keeps coming up to you with a camera rolling, asking questions? They're just riding their bikes trying to mind their own business.
It gets a little old answering the same questions every time you have to go somewhere when reasons for riding it do not include being attention whores.
Ask yourself how you would react before you call them "jerks".
I hope that people can look past the attitudes/ behaviour of these people and discover the wonder that is a tallbike. They are great for family fun (excellent kid/parent project ! )as are many other freakbike designs. They are really about fun and literally looking at things from a different perspective. They make a simple ride to the store much more interesting !!
I build, ride and sell tallbikes, people assume that I am like these guys, that pisses me off. I don't care for the attention they attract either but I try to be civil anyway. It's not that big of a chore to be nice to others is it ? These jerks don't own the idea of tallbikes, once an idea is out it's for everyone, that's what freedom is. I can D.Y.I. with the best of 'em,but some people just can't or don't want to do that. Why shouldn't they still be able to join in the fun?
Tallbikes are fun, shitty attitudes aren't.You can't expect to control other peoples reaction to what you do,that's delusional. Clubs like this are everywhere now, they think they have some right to dictate to other people what they can and can't do with their tallbikes. To these folks selling a tallbike is some sort of sin. They don't seem to realize that they are as bad or worse than the imagined "enemy" they're rebelling against.
I'm 6'10 and I'm going to start my own bike club called the Manute Bol Bikers. You have to be at least 6'9 and you have to ride a small childs bicycle with training wheels. We're gonna kick some Black Label arse.
lame asses. to make those things, ride them around, and when someone is genuinely impressed and interested, to act all uppity. do they really not expect people to whip out camera phones when they roll around like that? funny, these people try to be an alternative to society, but here they're displaying the worst aspects of humans.
you see those tall bikes all over seattle and as much as i see them around, it never fails to be annoying.
fixie mafia bike punks fo'life, nickas. fuck burners.
they arent being rude. they are just following the rules . rule 514 black label hand book. no press, no press, no press. this is a secret bike club and do not want anyone else to know about it cause then we will become sellouts duh. fucking loser who wants to see you or that ugly bitches face
Yes, admittedly I can be a bit annoying, but I thought this would make a good summer "Report". The tandem bike was like watching a rolling death-wish, I admire the guts it takes to ride.
Although I've been called just about every nasty name in the book this is the first time anyone called me a Baudelaireian "flaneur". I'm moving up in the world.
I am reading now an essay from Walter Benjamin about Baudelaire. I remember that text when i saw your video. You are a kind of contemporary "flaneur".
Despite their pissy attitudes, I like how you stepped out of the "art world" to display something different, like the one you did with the boom box. You must see a lot on that bike.
We made those 45 years ago in Savage, MN population 2000 with really minimal welding skills. I'm sure we copped the idea. Black Label certainly has us beat in gratuitous rudeness. Perhaps you should carry a bag of the small roofing nails, or simply hope for a lighting storm. Handling is horrible due to high center of mass. Their time will come.
they have nice bikes but they suck as ppl. if any 1 wants to make a better video on the bridge hit me up,, i can wheelie the entire bridge!

There are cameras everywhere in NYC. If they don't want their faces on video, they should wear ski masks.

"You're annoying, go away!"
What???
Gee, they do this to get attention (and you know that's really what it's all about) and then when they get it, they get all stupid about it.
"Black Label"... as in Carling Black Label beer? :-)
