  • i've found throung messing around that if you pick the string on the octave of the note you are playing, you will get a super round and super warm note. it's obviously not very practical in most cases, but i think it adds some nice character to slower licks or some chords. you(who ever is reading this) should really try it

  • I hear Pat Martino uses a bass pick. His earlier albums had great definition, but later ones, like his wes montgomery tribute, the mix has his guitar so dark, that the presence is kinda destroyed...

But ya figure, if you're the guitar player, you hear more, cause it comes from you...so I think Pat (only on his later CD's) doesn't need as much definition as a regular listener. I saw (heard) him recently at Yoshi's, and this isn't an issue with him live at all. He's using a big Marshall amp now.

  • What so suddenly I am a hippie? Didn't realise that 'acmemoe' was the grand arbiter of ideological position sorry. Just because you don't understand the concept of musical tone doesn't mean you should take it out on everyone DUDE. Fuck off and learn something.

  • Are you an idiot? So... if you want a warm sound pick at the neck and if you want some attack pick near the bridge. What is wrong with you, this is about as simple as he could of made it and you still didn't understand? Thank you expert villiage, very helpful tip. xXx
