  • Many households contain other things that are dangerous, swimming pools, power tools, appliances, and cars. It's up to the parent to keep children, too young, away from such things.

  • Bob. Lock them up? Oh, Mr. Burgler, can I have a minute to unlock my gun?

  • Funny how people on fox just can't accept the slightest amount of dissent. The guy pointed out that irresponsible gun ownership can lead to fatal acccidents, which is clearly true, and they all jump on him with their irrelevant statistics and bs.

  • @thatsmyrail personally, I trust the former prosecutor on stuff like this then Beckell.

    Really, lock it up???

Hold on Mr. Burglar, let me unlock my gun...

  • Many of the children+gun statistics includes gang violence and often considers several gang members as children. I'm not sure if that includes the statistic that Beckel was referencing. Now how many of these guns are legally purchased/licensed? We already have the gun laws on the books.

  • Wow, bob raises a good point about how unsafe a gun in the house can be, and they all just jump on him. They don't even come up with a good excuse.

  • @DumbFish1 That's because gun accident statistics compared to other accidental deaths are so low that they're not worth bringing up.

1600 over ten years sounds huge because it's over TEN YEARS. They stack statistics to make them sound far more significant than they actually are. Look up deaths from, tobacco, drowning, falls, and anything else over ten years. Then you'll realize how statistically insignificant 1600 deaths over 10 years really is. • @DumbFish1 I forget what actual figures are, but the book Freakonomics addresses this point very well, but I'm sure when you compare the number of kids who have been killed by accidental discharges of firearms in homes, and the amount of accidental drownings in home swimming pools, or even bath tubs, over the last ten years, you would be horrified.
