the game was a beta test, he got it because he was a game tester. . obviously, it was released after they killed elizabeth bathory, and beat the game and in order to beat it you had to kill her in real life. Simple as that. :]

The movie flubbed up in the end. The game showed itself in the end, in a magazine called game informer. I suppose the reviewers of the game survived to write about it, without being subjegated to an undetermined immediate death after playing it. It was a good movie, although I wished I hadn't seen the stupid magazine at the end. That ruined it for me.
